4. The laws place a disproportionate burden on minorities, the aged and poor. Many people do not have birth certificates. There can be significant problems in obtaining one, especially when you are outside the state in which you were born. Not everyone has a passport or drivers license. Even states providing a state ID require a birth certificate or passport before providing the card. Think about the cost of a birth certificate or passport. It is an indirect poll tax. These laws do not need to be rushed into execution. They can be phased in to permit people to gather the documents and to assess the actual impact.

These are Republicans rushing the laws onto the books in a presidential election year. They need to be stopped.

Has anyone, ANYONE, ever known someone denied voting at their local precent because a devious person stole “their identity”?
I mean, you are grouped into demographics according to your zipcode and school district. Then, you “identify” yourself by stating your name and address, sign a card, and then your are crossed off a list, which prevents anyone else using your name.
I mean, come on. With all this voter fraud, this has got to be widespread, right? Illegal aliens stealing massive amount of identities to vote.
(of course, the above paragraph is a snark, because it HAS NEVER BEEN AN ISSUE!)
