Enough already about supposedly disenfranchised MI and FL voters. Yes, the state officials were stupid, and so were the national officials. HOWEVER, it's up to the party how they select a nominee. The national party has decided staes shoudl have delegates, and the states determine how to award those delegates. If the state wants to have an election, cool. If they want a caucus, fine. If they wish to decide it by rock-papers-sissors, well, that's up to them.

Sorry, but individuals have no specific right to vote in a PARTY'S PRIMARY.

And FWIW, I'm a MI voter.

Once again, one must admit, when RightOfAttila Says: "You’re very quick to blame Republicans for one woman’s inability to vote but at the same time you cut down by half the vote of two entire states (FL and MI)," he might be right. Clearly, if the 97-year-old woman had, for example, violated the orders and broken the conventions of her party, conducting an extensive state-wide election outside their rules, we would nave no reason to bemoan the loss of her vote.

She'll probly be dead before November, anyway, right, ROA?

Sorry, Shayne. All the decent trolls had to get jobs in convenience stores because the RNC couldn't afford to pay them anymore.

Now, now, you have to read the whole post. Para 3 of my post said:

...However, I have to correct myself. There is one clear case of intentional voter fraud in the United States that has been fully documented. That is the case of a certain female right wing radio host, Ann Coulter. Somehow that case was not prosecuted.

But really, thanks for adding the bradblog link. Great site that I actually read on a daily basis.

Democrats should use this story to convince senior citizens that the Republican Party does not have their best interests in mind. That, plus Bush's failed social security privatization schemes and the medicare drug program which benefited drug companies first should give Democrats a lot to gain back senior citizens who may disagree with social issues like abortion or gay rights but should now see the GOP as an enemy of seniors.

But the Democrats often fail to use opportunities like this one on a grand scale. Think Kerry 2004.

Ann Coulter has bigger problems than voter fraud, I understand that she has been masquerading as a member of the homo sapiens species.

That's clearly fraudulent.

Where was all the indignation against the parties of MI and FL when they made these changes that could have cost them 100% of Democratic votes if the rules had been adhered to. Not until Hillary lost was this even an issue. Why don't you go call RHF.

It is quintessential that any action taken by the government to limit the access of an essential civil liberty of its citizens must be done for a valid and good reason. The Supreme Court has become ruled by conservative puppets who have used the power of their decisions to extend a one party system in the United States. Preventing voter fraud is a legitimate concern and goal for any voting system. However, there must be a reckoning as to the threat to the system and the collateral damage to the voting rights of innocent citizens. The Supreme Court exaggerated the threat and down played the impact on legitimate voters.

1. There has been no evidence of voter fraud at polling places in the United States for many decades. The Republican led and highly politicized DoJ pulled out all stops in order to go after and disclose voter fraud. No cases of actual voter fraud were discovered. Indeed, DoJ only found a handful of cases that presented an issue of voter registration fraud (albeit in extremely technical sense) and in only one case where the person actually voted. (A person who had been convicted of a felony who turned himself in when he realized he should not have voted.)

2. All legitimate voting experts have agreed that voter fraud at the polling place has not been a significant problem in the United States.

3. The Republican party has discussed and developed a strategy to tighten voting requirements because it will impact those groups that the Republicans believe will be more inclined to vote Democratic. Indeed, the Republican party is the only party that has had to sign an agreement with the Justice Department because of its illegal voter suppression tactics. Voter caging, jamming phone lines and other illegal tactics have involved the Republican party. Their intent is clear. However, I have to correct myself. There is one clear case of intentional voter fraud in the United States that has been fully documented. That is the case of a certain female right wing radio host, Ann Coulter. Somehow that case was not prosecuted.

4. The laws place a disproportionate burden on minorities, the aged and poor. Many people do not have birth certificates. There can be significant problems in obtaining one, especially when you are outside the state in which you were born. Not everyone has a passport or drivers license. Even states providing a state ID require a birth certificate or passport before providing the card. Think about the cost of a birth certificate or passport. It is an indirect poll tax. These laws do not need to be rushed into execution. They can be phased in to permit people to gather the documents and to assess the actual impact.

These are Republicans rushing the laws onto the books in a presidential election year. They need to be stopped.

You're very quick to blame Republicans for one woman's inability to vote but at the same time you cut down by half the vote of two entire states (FL and MI).

Awwww man, it appears I missed the republicans hate btruthful's venus party.
What was it?

Blah Blah Blah Obamaheads Blah Blah Blah disenfranchised voters Blah Blah Blah Stupid c*nt Blah Blah Blah I wont be voting Blah Blah Blah ROTFL! ROTFL! ROTFL!

Back on topic.
Has anyone, ANYONE, ever known someone denied voting at their local precent because a devious person stole "their identity"?
I mean, you are grouped into demographics according to your zipcode and school district. Then, you "identify" yourself by stating your name and address, sign a card, and then your are crossed off a list, which prevents anyone else using your name.
I mean, come on. With all this voter fraud, this has got to be widespread, right? Illegal aliens stealing massive amount of identities to vote.
(of course, the above paragraph is a snark, because it HAS NEVER BEEN AN ISSUE!)
