Today, Steven Limbaugh Jr., cousin of right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh, was confirmed to the U.S. District Court for the District of Eastern Missouri. President Bush nominated Steven Limbaugh to the position in December. As ThinkProgress has noted, the Bush administration has close ties to Rush Limbaugh, granting him access to Tony Snow, Condoleezza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld, Karl Rove, and Vice President Cheney. Last fall, Limbaugh was treated to his own private confab with Bush. (HT: Crooks and Liars)
God God, what’s next, will Coultergeist get appointed to be UNDER the bench?
June 11th, 2008 at 7:38 pmAh, more Bush Cronyism…ain’t this grand?
June 11th, 2008 at 7:39 pmRush is pond scum, but let’s avoid guilt by association–so what’s the skinny on Stevie?
June 11th, 2008 at 7:43 pmIt pays to be of service to the boy-king.
June 11th, 2008 at 7:46 pmIf only Rushie’s felony Oxy posession charges can be brought there…..
June 11th, 2008 at 7:56 pmFrom the wiki bio:
[T]he former Marsha M. Limbaugh? What, does he live with his ex? or did he marry a relative?
June 11th, 2008 at 8:01 pmThe headlines will be full of these types of appointments for the remainder of the Bush term.
June 11th, 2008 at 8:03 pmRush’s cousin was a Missouri Ciruit Court Judge from 1987 to 1992, then was on the Missouri Supreme Court from 1992 to this appointment to the Federal bench.
Rush started his national radio show in New York in 1988, so it seems the cousin was a judge, before Rush became a national asshat.
Just being fair.
June 11th, 2008 at 8:16 pmFrom the wiki bio:
He currently lives in Cape Girardeau with his wife, the former Marsha M. Limbaugh.
[T]he former Marsha M. Limbaugh? What, does he live with his ex? or did he marry a relative?
You Funny: Psst . . . It’s the old-fashioned way of stating her maiden name.
June 11th, 2008 at 8:19 pmWhat’s next…Gretchen Carlson as the Secretary of Education?
Rush being named the Drug Czar?
Steve Doocy being made ambassador to France?
John Gibson heading up a summit on race and media relations?
June 11th, 2008 at 8:44 pmWas he confirmed in the US Senate and if so…what the hell!!!!
June 11th, 2008 at 8:55 pmWe can’t blame the guy for having an asshat for a brother. He may be just as big a jerk as Rush, but I wouldn’t condemn him out of hand; we don’t get to choose our families.
June 11th, 2008 at 9:15 pmNonissue. Aside from the unfortunate name association the Missouri attorney branch of the Limbaugh family seem to have little in common with the big racist junkie. His uncle was a longtime federal judge as well and seems to have been respected by the bar.
June 11th, 2008 at 9:17 pmI seem to recall reading that Lush is “estranged” from much of his family.
June 11th, 2008 at 9:48 pmWhy are a Republican president’s Republican nominees for judgeships being confirmed unanimously by a DEMOCRATIC Senate? When the roles were reversed in the 1990s, the Republicans purposely slowed the process to create as many vacancies as possible for a new Republican president. Even now the Republican minority in the Senate obstructs and delays as much business as it can, including nominations for the bench.
If Senate Democrats acted like they were in the majority, acted like their Republican colleagues are dealing in bad faith, and acted like there is a president of the other party who in fact is not entitled to the office he holds, and is in fact on the way out of it, maybe cousins of Rush Limbaugh wouldn’t be receiving unanimous Senate confirmation.
June 11th, 2008 at 9:51 pmI don’t see the vote yet at govtrack.us., dying to see who voted for him.
June 11th, 2008 at 10:01 pmwee haaa!
this might get “misery” another step closer to designating
christianity the official state religion!
(snark, for sure)
June 11th, 2008 at 10:13 pmThe Dems approved it. They are worse. As bad as the Repugs are the Dems are worse because they could stop all this and don’t.
June 11th, 2008 at 10:24 pmI can’t seem to wrap my brain around “JUDGE Limbaugh”…:o/
June 11th, 2008 at 11:38 pmIf this weren’t so sickening I’d laugh. I’ll just vomit and get it over with.
June 11th, 2008 at 11:58 pmJust when you thought it couldn’t get any worse…

June 12th, 2008 at 12:21 amBlogwhoring…so sorry.
You’re gonna love this!
Why are YOU voting Republican?
June 12th, 2008 at 12:29 amThat’s sorta the point; her maiden name was Limbaugh? Comprehend much?
June 12th, 2008 at 12:54 amAs has been said, he was a judge long before anyone knew the name.
Everything suggests that he’s professional and qualified, the only issue being that he’s saddled with an unfortunate name.
I despise both Bush and Rush, but I would hesitate to get too worked up over this one.
June 12th, 2008 at 2:21 am# 27: I don’t care that the judge who was confirmed is named Limbaugh. I care that Democratic Senators are voting yes on ANY Republican judges. After the way the Republicans have abused the process, they are not entitled to the presumption of good faith and they don’t merit fair play. The Democrats in the Senate ought to refuse confirmation of any Republican nominees unless the Republicans in the Senate and the current White House occupant begin dealing in good faith.
