And by the way, envy is no reason to tax the rich. So what if a guy makes a zillion dollars before lunch….this is America isn’t it? It has no bearing on my life and my responsibility to myself and my family. It’s not the rich guy’s job to work his butt off his whole life so that he can hand over an ever increasing amount of money to me and others with less. Tell me why that’s fair….and don’t give me this “moral responsibility” garbage. If he wants buy a hundred foot yacht, or give it away to charity or, heck, even cut a bigger check than he owes on April 15th, that’s his decision to make. Where’s the outrage over Brad and Angelina’s 14 mansions around the world? They clearly don’t need that many homes. My view is that they can do whatever they want, but liberals are great at being hypocritical.

As an aside, what if Bill Gates had been taxed to the hilt? I’ll tell you what….more money for “Bridges to Nowhere” and less money to invest in new job-creating ventures and probably less money to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Politicians are hardly good stewards of capital. And welfare (of all kinds) is hardly an incentive for people to take care of themselves and/or learn from poor decisions that have landed them among the “have-nots.” Remember what your parents always told you…life isn’t fair. Deal with it.

And by the way, if that’s not enough to pay the bills of our bloated government, then we better figure out where to tighten the belt. Oh yeah, and for you liberals, if you think cutting back on defense spending is the first place to start, I might remind you of Bill Clinton’s “peace dividend” back in the 1990’s which didn’t quite work out the way you donks thought it would….gutting the military and our intel ranks certainly didn’t help matters considering the bombing of the Cole, the Kobar Towers and of course 9/11, did it?

Actually, I’m voting for Obama. Upright enough for ya? You’ll notice I didn’t say the candidate who lives the values, but whether he supports the moral and personal responsibility policies of the voters. I have very little hope for politicians regarding morality. However, if we only support candidates who have no transgressions, there will be no one for whom to vote.;)

Then, of course, there are those who are educated and will vote for McCain, even against their own financial interest, because Obama will back programs that go against their moral values and/or sense of personal responsibility.

If this is true, when put in context it sure explains her inactions. In my opinion this makes her complicit in much of what the bush cabal has perpetrated.

But, but, but… what about those poor families making only $200k/year? According to McCain, they aren’t rich. Since they make more, aren’t they entitled to more tax breaks?

Those making 200k certainly don’t need a tax cut. In fact a SLIGHT increase is in order until the deficit is sufficiently reduced some years from now. But 200k hardly makes one rich.

the US is increasing its dept at a rate of billions per month further bankrupting our children’s future.

Make that $1.59 BILLION per DAY. Fiscal conservatives my arse.

I’ve read in a few places now that Conyers may be able to force Pelosi to recuse herself from any Impeachment hearings or proceedings, indeed, to recuse herself from the very decision to have the hearings itself. The reason? She may be forced to TESTIFY as a MATERIAL WITNESS since in her capacity in congress, she was briefed on the NSA Warrantless Wiretapping BEFORE it hit the news, same goes for torture.

In a Washington Post op-ed of Jan. 15, 2006, Pelosi proudly advertised her uniquely long tenure on the Intelligence Committee and acknowledged that she was one of the privileged handful of lawmakers who were briefed. “This is how I came to be informed of President Bush’s authorization for the NSA to conduct certain types of surveillance.” She then proceeded to demonstrate the bowing and scraping characteristic of her subservient attitude toward the Executive Branch:

“But when the administration notifies Congress in this manner, it is not seeking approval. When big business doesn’t like something in the tax code, they can hire a lobbyist to get it changed. But nobody lobbies for working people. Instead of honoring that core American value – opportunity for all – we’ve had a system in Washington where our laws and regulations have carved out opportunities for the few.

That fact the Obama calls it his “TAX FAIRNESS PLAN” says it all. For the first time in many years it will actually be fair to the majority. What a refreshing idea.

We as middle class Americans have bore the burden for most of our lives. We are the ones that except the responsibility to our children (through funding schools), to the infastructure of our country, to support all the great programs that have helped so many in need and support of the military that defend our great country. It’s about time that the rich pay their share and except part of the responsibility.
