No idea what you mean by this, but that many ignorant white people used to refer to black people as ‘monkey’ is, indeed A HISTORICAL FACT. (You can even read about it- it’s in books.)

2) “…this is a great opportunity to realy try and transcend still existing racial biases…” and more lofty words of hope and promise.

3) They list the OTHER candidates they could also do. But haven’t. Shoulda woulda coulda.

4) Letter ends with an appology, “In earnest folks, we’re so sorry we offended anybody.”

However, Mr SockCompany ends with this PS:
“None of this is going to matter in November anyways. McCAIN IS GOING TO WIN and by January 2009 no one will remember the name Obama.”
I think is get it… you don’t think much of Obama do you? (That’s called bias.)

This proves that this “charming association between a candidate and a toy…” is an outright lie and the company’s target market was NOT the Obama folks, but for rascist white folk and Republicans.

In Chicago I work for a Flag and Button company that’s been doing political campaigns for more than thirty years. It would be poor business practice for us- or any other company to, say, pick ONE candidate only to merchandise to. That THIS company now says- way after the fact- that they maybe/might/could put out a McCain doll, etc. But… they didn’t.

But I sure do know they’re lying.

I get it now.

For all of you that are calling us conservative Utah republicans a bunch of crazy rascists, maybe you should get your facts straight. This doll was created by a member of the Utah Democratic Party. Get your shit right before prejudging an entire state.

Every single one of you that called Utah a rascist state is ignorant and rascist yourself for not taking 2 minutes to find out the truth about this story. Here’s a statement from the company:

Had a different Democratic candidate won the nomination, we were prepared to move forward with the cutest, fluffiest 12″ chestnut and golden-haired squirrel, with a short Farrah-like do in a brown pantsuit and call her Squirellary.

I think the site is in some way connected with a DailyKos member masquerading as a Democrat, posting Obama-monkey jokes. DailyKos has really deteriorated since they’ve allowed all these abusive members to ruin their site. Those abusive posters are rampant in the site, and it’s like they’re a great number of Republican operatives acting as ‘gangs’ in DailyKos ready to pounce on any anti-McCain diaries–they then ban the diarist.

Everytime I see something like this it tells me that we still have to work harder to end this racial poison in our society and isolate these racist people, if we really going to fully recover, and go forward as a united and caring society.
