Will Lou Dobbs be the next governor of New Jersey?

The Newark Star-Ledger reports today that “several well-connected Republicans” in New Jersey have heard buzz that “CNN’s Lou Dobbs is thinking of running for governor of New Jersey.” Dobbs, who has reportedly “inquired about the steps necessary to start a campaign,” refused to deny that he is considering a run, only saying, “I’m just not going to comment.” A gubernatorial run by Dobbs would likely not be without controversy. The non-profit Hispanic Institute recently announced “a Latino boycott of CNN” largely because of Dobbs’s coverage of immigration issues.

Anything to get his bigoted ass off TV would be a FSMsend.

  2. Leftside Annie says:

Oh, Jebus – I hope not. He can be governor of the Lunatic Fringe – wherever that is.

  3. Castelcomerkid says:

I know that New Jersey, like anyother state, has within its borders many people who are somewhat mentally unstable and capable of doing anything at any given moment, I refuse to believe that there are so many of them that would actually consider electing the likes of Dobbs to any office including dogcatcher.

  4. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

I thought he was currently governor of the State of Denial.

  5. RUCerious says:

PLC, isn’t he Dictator for Life of the BigotedOldFatGuy Nation?

  6. Buckie Boy says:

Oh goody, another Repukian Bigot running for office, who’d of thought.

    Vote Stupid, Vote Dobbs

  7. Peter C says:

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could get to the point that ‘fame’ was not seen as one of the chief qualifications for high office.

  8. raynman says:

I wonder if he’ll build a wall between New Jersey and Riker’s Island?

  9. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

    RUCerious,

I stand corrected. It’s hard to remember these clones and their positions.

hold on a minute. not just his coverage on immigration issues, As a Hispanic, I’d like it mentioned that is was more like this:
from The Hispanic Institute and Rafael Vela:

“We’re taking this step after years of CNN management’s failure to rein in Mr. Dobbs’ irresponsible assertions about immigrants and their impact on our country and its institutions,” Gus West, THI board chair, said in making the announcement. He added that THI will work with other national Hispanic organizations to broaden support for the proposed boycott.
distortion of facts surrounding U.S. immigration issues, especially in commentaries and reports on “Lou Dobbs Tonight.”

West noted that THI called for censure of Dobbs two years ago, following three years of inflammatory on-air rhetoric about undocumented immigrants. “The lack of any meaningful response from CNN’s management, or any abatement of Mr. Dobbs’ offensive tirades, makes it clear to us that the company supports his misleading and often inaccurate positions,” he said.

“We will mobilize this important market segment to make our strong convictions heard,” West said, adding that THI is not alone in its criticism of Dobbs. In “Fear & Loathing in Prime Time: Immigration Myths and Cable News,” an extensive new study published May 21, the Washington-based Media Matters Action Network reported that cable news program hosts Dobbs, Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck of CNN Headline News “serve up a steady diet of fear, anger and resentment on the topic of illegal immigration.”

However, Dobbs was singled out by the Media Matters study as “one of the most obsessed with the topic.” The study added that the “Lou Dobbs Tonight” program “might be more properly called ‘Lou Dobbs Crusades Against Illegal Immigration Tonight.’”

Yep…Here in California we have Ahnold, Minnesota had Jesse Ventura, etc…What is it that makes normal citizens think an actor has any ability to govern a state? I boggles the mind.

don’t forget Ronald Regan and Sonny Bono

Good luck with that, Dobbs, you ssquare-headed knob-end!

  16. robbez_92107 says:

He’d better not hope to get any of the Scary Brown People vote.

  17. upside99 says:

Dobbs is the finest example of a one-trick pony that ever wasted good air.

If he gets elected, look out for candidates like the rusher, billo, Nazis beck and savage weiner, and maybe even coultergeist, running for “pubic” office.

Actually, Witch1 – I’d much prefer to fergit that assclown.

Dobb’s is such a phoney–he was on Wall Street for years and made a huge pile of money for himself, divorced his first wife, married a hispanic woman and started another family. He lives on a gentleman’s farm and his kid’s are champion equestrians–for him to say “he’s for the people and the america first crowd” he sure as hell had no problem in driving the economic agenda that got us into the mess we are in today.

He makes my skin crawl–I used to watch him but he has become insufferable and painful to watch. I’ve often wondered how many illegals he employees to run his stables and his farm.

CNN should dump him–he had a face lift in January or February and had his teeth redone and it still doesn’t help him–all the while telling viewer’s that he had his tonsils out.

  20. regular_joe says:

Will Lou Dobbs be the next governor of New Jersey?

Nope. Dobbs will bolt as soon as he discovers that the governor gig pays less than what he makes at CNN.

Less money plus having to keep all those bigoted comments to himself will prove to be a deal killer.

  21. A Patriot Acting says:

Speaking as a proud New Yorker I say let him at it. For all I care he can build a huge fence around New Jersey and seal it off from the rest of the country. As long as he promises to quit his day job.

  22. ninique says:

I think it’s safe to say that Bush is the Bushy ray gun being that a real ray gun has been created, although not in use for Iraq. It supposedly is can be used for crowd control. the moment the blast of electromagnetic energy hits you, it causes you to stop what you’re doing and want to run away. (I kid you not, about this.) they wanted to send it to Iraq because you supposedly don’t die from it. how ever, when they demonstrated it, the people posed as anti-war protesters. funny, eh? quite odd, isn’t it. And could you believe it? they rather keep it here. I wonder why…

  23. ninique says:

the people even held up peace signs. for some straaaange reason, it was not authorized to be used in Iraq, even though it doesn’t kill.

  24. ninique says:

I don’t remember the name of it but someone here sent out the utube. so there you have it. Bushy ray gun!

  25. Peter C says:

I’m also tired of the children of famous politicians who seem to have instant ‘electibility’. Tom Kean Jr. and Georgie-boy himself are pitiful examples of that.

We need to reinforce the concept that voting is a civic RESPONSIBILITY which brings with it a duty to be well-informed. Instead, the media is working overtime to reinforce the idea that elections should chiefly concern the ‘popularity’ of the candidates instead of their qualifications or position on vital issues.

  26. FuzzyToedDog says:

Go Dobbs! Would everyone like him more if he was complaining about poor WHITE people invading us from Canada? If the Mexicans would get off their collective butts and fix their own country (revolution)they would be better off. Instead they have sat by and let drug lords and corrupt govt. officials take everything from them. What will Canada say if our country gets so fu(ked up that Americans start fleeing to their country? They’ll be calling us illegal immigrants and want us out.

  27. jcro says:

Good lord! As a resident of the Garden State, I really hope this isn’t true!

  28. trollsbwild says:

    Dobbs is considering this?

    BBBWWAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  29. dbschell says:

Hope NJ voters have the good sense to realize that Dobbs is not a man of the
future. He will bring more problems to a state that already has too many.
ANd besides, NJ needs someone with brains and there he is clearly lacking.

  30. Immigration2008DotCom says:

Whose interests does Dobbs-bashing serve? No, really: list some of those who’d profit if he went off the air.

  31. tanglewood says:

    30) We have the influx of illegal aliens in this country because of the large corporations who value profit over employees. The US Chamber of Commerce is one of the biggest beneficiaries of having illegals–because they can get rid of american workers cheap labor.

Why don’t you think before you pose such nonsense?

  32. tanglewood says:

should read “because they get rid of american workers for cheap labor.” Sorry.
