McCain website highlights his good judgment on Iraq… beginning from Aug. 2003.
The McCain campaign website has a new interactive timeline which attempts to prove how and when John McCain was right about Iraq. Interestingly, the timeline begins in August 2003:
The Wonk Room’s Matt Duss writes, “So while McCain is certainly not modest about trying to claim credit for the 2007 troop surge — which his site graciously refers to as ‘The McCain Surge’ — he is somewhat more modest about providing examples of his leadership, wisdom, and judgment about Iraq from before August 2003.”

McCain’s campaign is reaching to the very bottom of political hack when it attempts to lay claim to not only having the idea for a surge (OK, let’s give him that), but then to actually name the damn thing after himself?!
What a complete fool this makes him out to be, and worse yet, his pandering to that element of voter that would believe this crap, makes the U.S. look like a bunch of fools. Who the hell they got workin’ over at the McCain HQ? What a bunch of morons.

Demonstrating that experience is truly no substitute for judgment, John McCain like President Bush was sadly wrong at almost every turn in promoting the invasion and occupation of Iraq. From his predictions of a short war and claims U.S. troops would be greeted as liberators to his announcements of mission accomplished, his ongoing confusion over friend and foe in Iraq and so much more, McCain’s is an unbroken legacy of error.

Yes of course there were too few troops, the generals knew that long before the invasion. But apparently McCain only realized that after the insurgency started and it became clear that his rosy predictions of a quick easy victory was way off.
McCains only solution in Iraq is the military . More violence -> More troops. Less violence -> Troops stay a 100 years. But the military is not a solution. The surge didnt solve anything.
And what if this extremely unpopular security-treaty is forced down the throat of the Iraqis and all hell breaks loose again? Will McCain simply rewind and replay his broken record routine “more troops.. more troops.. more troops”? If so where the hell is he gonna get more troops??

June 17th, 2008 at 12:34 amhmmm – those words next to mccain’s head look a little strange – i thought that the whole point of going in there and ‘making progress’ was to dispose of a cruel dictator who had nukes….or to liberate the people….or encourage democracy….or establish a government of the people…i guess the “FIGHTING ISLAMIST EXTREMISTS!!!” is the consequence of deciding what is good for another country you know absolutely nothing about.

The Republic convention should be a real humdinger. After officially proclaiming Grampy McCorpse their candidates, the party honchos will go into hiding to plan the 2012 campaign. I find it amusing that he is just a throwaway and doesn’t even know it.
June 17th, 2008 at 2:02 amLet’s get this straight — THE SURGE DID NOT WORK AT ALL. During the buildup of the surge (when violence should have been going down if it had anything to do with the surge), Jan 2007-August 2007, was the BLOODIER THAN ANY YEAR IN THE CONFLICT.
When Muqtada Al Sadr declared a VOLUNTARY cease fire, the violence magically stopped. Well, guess what, Sadr is re-constituting a new army with one goal of kicking out the US from THEIR country. Things will probably be getting worse. How often do you ever hear about the cease fire? Yeah, must have been McCain’s doing.
It looks to me, that they have a much better chance of reducing violence on their own. All we do is instigate the violence while helping other terrorist organizations recruit.

That would trump McCain’s so called expertise. If he did that, it would pull the rug out from under John McCain and leave him with not a single issue where he can make even plausible false claims.
