An examination of campaign contributions by individuals from the oil and gas industry by the Center for Responsive Politics reveals that of the current candidates, McCain has been the largest recipient of their largesse. So far, they have given him more than $404,000 for his presidential campaign. This figure is significantly higher than their contributions to Clinton ($309,363) and Obama ($222,309). In fact, nearly 70 percent of the industry’s donations in the 2008 White House race have gone to McCain and other Republicans.

The Pentagon is the single biggest customer Oil has, wars raise Oil prices nicely and war gives Oil exculusive rights to other peoples oil. Oil likes war and knows who to go to get one or two started for them. Oil was $35 back in the boreing old days – and I think it is safe to say that $150 per barrel made up for Oil’s investments in Bush, Cheney – so you can’t really blame Oil for rooting for MCain, and they have Much deeper pockets than they did 7 years ago, especialy with no windfall tax these days.

McCain appears to be ditching his principles in favor of policies more palatable to oil interests. A whopping 74 percent of McCain’s lifetime campaign contributions from the oil and gas industry has come since he announced for president.

It’s unclear if McCain ever had any principles, he was after all, a player in the Keating savings & loan scandal. But now that he can taste the White House, McCain has abandoned any pretext of principles or integrity.

i FIND it hypocritical that conservatives assail liberals and progressives from taking money from “special interests” in which they mean unions, teachers, trial lawyers, etc. but keep silent when it comes to themselves taking money from Big Oil and other corporations.

Surely, Frank Moore (running for president) would never pander to anyone.
