Did Rev Wright lose his congregation for his blatantly racist opinions? What about Obama calling his grandmothers a typical white person because she fears blacks. Pacman Jones belongs behind bars. It is disgusting that he is allowed to play professional sports and be in a position that children may emulate him. If you don’t like Imus then change the dial.

If standards of conduct are to be upheld then they should be the smae for both black and white. Fight Back

By NO MEANS do I want to defend a racist.

But here’s what bothers me about this. Imus is not a stupid man. It’s a little hard for me to believe that he’d be stupid enough to make the same mistake twice in rapid succession after many years of experience in the public eye… Are we sure he’s not just pointing out that black people get arrested more often (unfairly) in situations like bar/club fights?

Second, even if he is blatantly racist, we can not have free speech unless we are willing to defend the rights of people we disagree with, no matter how vile we consider them. If Imus is not free to speak his mind, then neither are you or I.

As for Imus, I could have given him the benefit of the doubt after the first incident. Not anymore. His “now we know” comment was completely out of line.

It’s not as if Imus needed to ask to know what Jones’ skin color is; he was clearly trying to make a point -which is that a black person getting arrested is to be expected.

That’s not really it…
They’re incarcerated because top of the line defense attorneys cost beaucoup bucks. Poor, mis-educated people without attorneys are easy pickings for prosecutors who use them to prop up their conviction rates.

That was the lesson of OJ and why white people hated the verdict. White people learned what black people already knew. If you’re rich…in America you can literally get away with murder EVEN IF YOU’RE BLACK!

I don’t know why everyone is up in arms over this. Imus was just referring to the fact that overwhelmingly the high dollar crimes…you know like stealing people’s pension funds are committed by white people. He was simply saying that since it was relatively-speaking a minor crime…it must have been committed by a black guy. And since white guys almost never get arrested for stealing millions, the fact that the guy was arrested made sense once you realize…well, yeah…the guy’s black.

I had no intention of singling out hockey players. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I’m trying a new troll-baiting tactic. The only point I’m trying to make is that young men do stupid things and it’s ridiculous to focus on any single group within the community of professional athletes. Pro athletes are a unique group that operate under different rules. And they have a much higher arrest and incarceration rate than anyone approaching their income tax bracket. Country, race or sport, the numbers are similar.

Plus, some of the best times of my life were just outside Boston. My Dad’s half of the family is still in New England. But, I find New York based “entertainment” boring and irrelevant. Once again, I’m sorry, no offense or judgment was intended. Celtics Rule!
