McCain's probably right about this, for once. If American's go back and remember, it was Bush who was President and it was Attorney General Ashcroft who was warned about 'Osama on airplanes into American buildings'. We've got to realize that it was the Republicans who failed to keep us safe.

Speaking of "misery index", there was a new index from the headlines of just a few days ago. A wopping 14% of Americans think our country is on the right track. Yes, you heard correctly. This is the lowest percent ever recorded for that question.

Could it be that the 22% of people who were so miserable then are the ones who think we're on the right track now? Maybe they were miserable because President Carter pointed out that we had an energy crisis (we know better now, don't we?), and we had residual inflation which started during Nixon's term (thank God we got THAT problem solved). At least in 70s it took a FOREIGN dictatorship to hold American citizens hostage.

Hey barackocarter, you mental pismire:

Using the same criteria as was used during the Carter Administration to determine the "misery index" where would one place the number today. Is it possibly a THREE DIGIT number?

You have to factor in the more than 4100 DEAD, thousands more permanently maimed mentally and/or physically in a war into which the nation was lied . $4.00+ /gal gasoline, skyrocketing food prices, 47 million+ without health insurance, even more under insured, more than half the bankruptcies due to medical bills, massive fraud resulting from semi privatizing of Medicare, failure to address climate warming, New Orleans still devastated, a useless FDA allowing contaminated food to reach the retail market, eviscerating of the U.S. Constitution, hacked voting machines, stock market tanking, serial lying sociopaths as president and vice president, the greatest maldistribution of wealth since the Gilded Age, rampant voter suppression That's just for starters...

"Honestly, could you state the democratic plan to deal with terror? I have no idea what it is other than to criticize the republicans."

We saw the Democratic strategy in action during the Clinton administration in which we actually DID foil several attempts at terrorist attacks. Where was bush when President Clinton's advisers tried to inform him of national security concerns? On vacation and unavailable. They weren't interested, for some reason. Meanwhile several of them actually commented in 1992 (in the PNAC treatise, which you can still find on the web) that the only way they could effectively colonize the middle-east would be to have "another Pearl Harbor" to sell public opinion on the idea. Somehow they even managed to be in office when that actually happened. GREAT strategy!

By the way, there was ONE MAJOR terrorist attack on U.S. soil during the Clinton administration. It happened in Oklahoma City and the terrorist was a liberal-bashing Republican. Another example of history being biased against conservative opinion.

The guy made a highly inflamatory and inappropriate statement in public.

Anyone going to bet if McCain is going to get rid of him (what he would do if he really meant to disavow the guy's comments)

-or-

keep him (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).

Sorry, looks like I exaggerated. My apologies. I suppose I should have said any *meaningful*, or certainly any *major* legislation. The expansion bills are cute though. I’m sure some voters might be impressed with that distinguished list of accomplishments.</em>

So troll, what "meaningful" or "major" legislation did Bush have under his belt when he took office?

Mr.NiceGuy Says:
This “Bush is bad” stuff is fine, but it won’t get Obama elected. Sorry. Eventually the voters will be wondering exactly what Obama has accomplished and will judge his record accordingly.

no i think that most people are looking foward to what he CAN accomplish that will be in the best interests of all americans - and it seems that he wants to do it through diplomacy and common sense - concepts completely foreign to this current admin and their supporters.

This “Bush is bad” stuff is fine, but it won’t get Obama elected. Sorry. Eventually the voters will be wondering exactly what Obama has accomplished and will judge his record accordingly.

Mr. NiceGuy~
All this 'record' stuff is fine, but EVERY presidential election is, in some respects, a referendum on the previous admin. and Obama will not only attract voters who like him for him, he will also be helped by the vast numbers of Evangelical Christians who choose to sit this one out... I can see that there is no convincing you.
Sorry, it almost seems as if you just came here to parrot all the Republican talking points under the guise of a 'concerned' independent... shocking!

It is like Google for EVERY PENNY of Tax Money Spent by our Government. It exists because of the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006. Obama did it!

Badger
Sorry, looks like I exaggerated. My apologies. I suppose I should have said any *meaningful*, or certainly any *major* legislation. The expansion bills are cute though. I'm sure some voters might be impressed with that distinguished list of accomplishments.

It's pretty obvious that MisterNiceFella hasn't read any of Obama's books, nor studied his work in the Illinois state senate, nor investigated the work he did in Chicago as a community organizer.
Better credentials than an ExPOW who has a web of ties to the corporate oligarchy.
