House Judiciary Committee prepares to subpoena Mukasey.

Yesterday, a House Judiciary subcommittee voted 5-2 to authorize a subpoena to Attorney General Michael Mukasey. The subpoena regards “records concerning the Valerie Plame Wilson investigation, allegations of selective prosecution, the New Hampshire phone jamming scandal, and the replacement of Minnesota’s U.S. Attorney.” House Judiciary Committee chairman John Conyers (D-MI) also sent a letter to Mukasey telling him to stop stonewalling a GAO investigation into the politicization of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division.

    Clean up on post 1….

  2. ralph the wonder llama says:

Sharon, there’s no cleaning that up. When rogerse soils his trousers, the skid mark is baked on in.

  3. jamie says:

Oh good!!! Someone is writing a letter! I’ll bet that it will be stern! I’m so glad to see some action! Love how those Dems are fighting back!

#3 Good one…Guess his mama won’t help either, she’s still upset she didn’t use birth control…LOL.Blessings

    Look’s like we have a matched pair of troll’s, how quaint..that’s ,20 cent’s for their side this morning…Big buck’s..Ha!

    rogerse:

You really do hate America don’t you? In the last 24 hours I’ve seen nothing from you but a desire to destroy our American Values and an absolute contempt for our principles of coequal branches of government and checks and balances.

If Mukasey cannot be subpoenaed by Congress, then who exactly has oversight (i.e. checks and balances) over him? Certainly not Bush and Cheney because he’s doing exactly what they want him to do. If you have a criminal President and a criminal Vice President, or even allegedly criminal (I’m giving you a gift there, we are waaaay beyond alleged now), and the AG is also a criminal or an enabler/protector of criminals, how then rogerse, in your infinite wisdom, would you suggest our government goes about stopping criminality in the Executive Branch? The only way this can happen is with coequal branches of govt that applies checks on each other’s power.

Congress most certainly does have the authority and power to subpoena the AG, and if he doesn’t show up, they have the power and authority and the right and the fu(king DUTY to call the Sargeant-At-Arms, have Mukasey (among others) arrested, and brought before Congress in handcuffs.

  8. liberal traitor says:

didn’t say it would happen numbnuts. I said it was their right, within their authority, and their DUTY to do so. Whether or not they will is another story and I am not happy about it. You shouldn’t be either, but since you hate America and our way of life (i.e. a nation of laws, not men) you are revelling in it.

You have no idea what makes America great. You are a virus, a small part of the overall infection that will destroy us all.

  9. And Yet... says:

So the HJC subpoenas Mukasey- he comes in and does what exactly. He stonewalls the (for the most part) inept & disorganized HJC & exhibits both disdain & condescension for the Dems’ questioning, as Addington did.

Why would Mukasey care? He’ll honor the subpoena. Mike Mukasey’ll be there like Addington was. There are no consequences for the content of his testimony, one way or another.

  10. liberal traitor says:

btw, this posting one sentence per post thing, contributing absolutely nothing, and it’s pretty much the same shite every time, makes it abundantly obvious that you are in fact a paid troll.

  11. Great Frybread King says:

I bet that’s a very stern letter. Glad to see the Dems aren’t taking any crap.

  12. liberal traitor says:

    And Yet…

    Agreed.

they need to add some teeth, some bite if you will. As much as I enjoyed Bill Delahunt’s bark yesterday with re: Addington, it would be nice to actually see any of these criminals suffer some consequences…problem is the (now ironically titled) Justice Department is just as corrupted as everything else. Perhaps by getting Mukasey to testify they might get him caught in his own words here or there and in some way force his hand, gaining some leverage on the JD…we shall see.

  13. Witch1 says:

The troll love’s the hot air, it blow’s her dress up…good one troll…Got anything worth .10 cent’s to add or just more of the same.

  14. And Yet... says:

Sorry for the total negativity @ 12 regarding Mukasey’s HJC appearnce. With the FISA crapfest plus the Addington/Yoo show yesterday, I just get completely fed up sometimes.

  15. Bob says:

Wake up the Sgt at Arms, sweep out the cell, and just start jailing them. How many can it hold? That would be a hoot. Tell ‘em all that they had their chance, plenty of chances, and this is their own doing. For most people subpoenas are not an option, not an invitation. Maybe if you jail the head of DO(B)J on contempt (and obstruction), others would be more willing to testify.

Well, hot air does feel good.

rogerse has obviously never gotten oral sex if he still thinks a blow-dryer feels like a blowjob.

  17. RUCerious says:

Throw his FU(KING ass in jail if he refuses.

INHERENT CONTEMPT is your last recourse, Congress. Don’t be afraid to exercise it.

—Well I suppose, whereas so many are farting in your general direction

  19. citizen_pain says:

And if you don’t comply with the subpoena, well, then, I’ll… I’ll… I’ll tell your momma!
    Please.

  20. IgnoranceIsNotBliss says:

It’s way past time that Congress justify’s paying the Sargent-at-Arms and use him for what he’s being paid to do if the necessity should arise.

  21. po says:

Yawn . . . why aren’t the Dems in the House just campaigning to keep their seats come fall. Oh wait, they think sending out subpoenas and holding hearings televised on C-span equates to “oversight”. In their twisted little minds they are campaigning. Too bad they haven’t figured out how to do anything else.

Before someone starts singing “they don’t have the votes”, please don’t waste your time – we know that’s a crock.

  22. Leftside Annie says:

Jebus. I’m so everflarking SICK of these criminals using our Constitution to wipe their assses. And I’m even more sick of the blathering eejits who defend them – roggie-doggie, your knees must be *very* sore – along with your bum.

  23. Buckie Boy says:

    I don’t know – I don’t remember – I will look into that – Executive Privilege – Can’t recall – I didn’t do it – I wasn’t there – Someone else was in charge – etc. etc. etc.

    Jail him till he talks.

  24. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

OMG, who would have thought that Congress would have to subpoena the Attorney General to testify before them. I’m betting that Mukasey does what everyone else has done, thumb his nose in Congress’ face.

I think that our AG would be the perfect test for Inherent Contempt. What do you think folks, wouldn’t that be amazing, seeing the AG arrested and put into handcuffs?

Ok, then please explain to us how they do have the votes.
