My post at #88 is now incorrect due to TPs inablility to remove comments and leave the numbering intact. So now it looks like I'm calling Gregor Samsa stupid.

Which I am not. My apologies.

I like Chuck Hagel a lot and I admire him for standing up for his own personal principles instead of falling into the leming pack of the GOP, but to call himself an Eisenhower Republican??

Chuck, baby, let's bring it into this century!!!!!!!!!!!

The problem is that the solar systems going on line now are intended to challenge $50 per barrel oil. That creates a major environmental problem for oil executives as they may have to move to smaller, less palaceous homes.

Right-wingers are all about national security in this election. All about fear and defense; all about national security and submission to foreign influences.

Then WHY aren't right-wingers agitating for nationalized energy? THAT's the national-security issue, isn't it?

They's certainly get a jump on the Demmycrats -- none of whom are advocating or proposing such a thing.

The gummint handles Our War On Terr -- why not have'em handle the CAUSE?? The gummint handles National Defense -- why not have'em handle THE CAUSE?

OOP -- pardon me. Some powers handle some crap better'n other powers handle other crap. It ain't up to us nobodies to decide which is which.

barfly,

There is some environmental impact from solar power plants as well, as is the case with any man-made structure.

They need to clear the land, put up a fence around it, build roads to get in and out of the plant, put the towers and the cables to get the electricity generated out, water usage, sewage, etc.

Having said that, I would hope the overall impact on the environment from a these plants is a lot lower than, say, coal power plants, or offshore oil platforms.

And I'm sorry, but what environmental risks does a solar-to-steam generating plant pose? Water usage issues?

TheRight Says:

Poor person goes hungry…blame big oil.
Hillary does not get the nomination…blame big oil.
Obama tell another lie…blame big oil.

Nope. Blame Bush:

“Faced with a surge in the number of proposed solar power plants, the federal government has placed a moratorium on new solar projects on public land until it studies their environmental impact, which is expected to take about two years. The Bureau of Land Management says an extensive environmental study is needed to determine how large solar plants might affect millions of acres it oversees in six Western states.”

So, we must drill now, in sensitive areas - but solar farms, which could be producing energy in two years time, must be studied for two years, first.

Wasn't Bush a former oil man?

Obama tell another lie…blame big oil.

Nope. Blame Bush:

“Faced with a surge in the number of proposed solar power plants, the federal government has placed a moratorium on new solar projects on public land until it studies their environmental impact, which is expected to take about two years. The Bureau of Land Management says an extensive environmental study is needed to determine how large solar plants might affect millions of acres it oversees in six Western states.”

So, we must drill now, in sensitive areas – but solar farms, which could be producing energy in two years time, must be studied for two years, first.

Wasn’t Bush a former oil man?

TheRight Says:

Since when are the 80 million government workers accountable to the people? Does the government care about your wallet? Not when they approve the $200 million bridge to nowhere.

Demorats are accontable to unions and trial lawyers and NOT the people.

The greedy public employee unions in Vallejo, CA, forced the city to file for bankrupcy protection. Public employee unions don’t care about your wallet.

I agree that big government is not the answer, thats why I don't support the Republicans anymore. When I see that the Bush administration is spying on peoples phone records, when they don't need a warrant to arrest a criminal and hold them indefinitely, thats when I got fed up.

The democrats are not perfect either. But at least they are actively trying to protect the constitution by the abuses of the current Bush administration.

Now when I see you defending oil companies 100%, I see a tool of this big republican government. Here you are saying that drilling for more oil is the answer when in reality this is not the direction we should be going...continuing our addiction to cheap dirty fossil fuels when there is so many other alternatives that the Republicans constantly avoid addressing. You think coal, nuclear energy and more drilling is the answer to current gas prices?? Hey buddy, I have news for you...these projects take forever to come online and won't solve gas prices over night, but you know what will push the prices down RIGHT NOW? LESS CONSUMPTION. It's supply and demand. Hmm, I wonder why the Republican talking heads don't support this stratedgy? Oh yea...because they want Americans to keep feeding the oil barrons their record profits.

If you think oil companies are your friends....then like I said, I have a bridge I would like to sell you, interested? LOL.

If you are a real conservative, then you would start thinking for yourself, turn of Hannity and Fox noise!
