Last week, the Pentagon reported that improvements in security in Iraq have been “substantial over the past nine months.” But an Iraqi contractor does not see such improvement. Spencer Ackerman reports that GardaWorld, a private intelligence firm doing business in Iraq, finds that since October, levels of violence are largely unchanged throughout Iraq:

General Betrayus needs to get his facts straight.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:10 pmYeah, and the Dems. just approved, and Busch just signed, another 162 Billion for this folly.

June 30th, 2008 at 1:13 pmThe contractors firm is hardly strong, or reliable enough to contradict the pentagon, sorry.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:14 pmYou notice that the news came from a contractor and not the MSM Oh what a surprise…
Maybe we need to sign them up to get unbiased and accurate information about Iraq since the government is still blocking the unpleasant news coming from there.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:14 pmThe goal is not to win.
The goal is to continue the fight.
Perpetual “war” = perpetual profit.
They can scare enough cowards like rogers and lockbox and s_mart (worse than k_mart?) easily enough and get them to believe America is too weak to defeat terrorists without BECOMING terrorists to keep support for their money-train.
REAL Americans, however, are catching on to the BS and their support is dwindling, as the cowards are publicly ridiculed and ostracized for being such pansies (like we do here everyday).
Keep on pointing out their cowardice and ignorance-based fear. Make sure that people know that the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave consists of much more than a bunch of gullible, frightened little sheep.
I WILL NOT BE COWED INTO SUPPORTING TYRANNY!
Will you?
June 30th, 2008 at 1:16 pmCheney: So?
June 30th, 2008 at 1:20 pmAt this point in time, Neocons & profit driven corporations are the World’s biggest terrorists.
Hell, even our own government has been lying to us daily to protect these terrorists.
Look up terrorists under ‘NeoCons’…

You know a lot about the company? Maybe you’d care to substantiate your claim.
A security firm representing private companies in Iraq is far more objective in reporting than the US Government, which has a vested interest in convincing the public that security has improved on its watch.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:21 pmWe’re going to ban you….yet again.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:21 pmWhy is it, bushie supporters will try to descredit anyone that actually tells it like it is in Iraq ? If even one soldier dies in Iraq we are not making progress. Progress is when ALL AMERICAN SOLDIERS are home.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:22 pmRepublicans and their fear tactics.
Good thing it only works on cowards.
Terrorism only works on the terrified.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:22 pmA contractor firm has nothing to gain telling what they witness, this administration as well as faux liars on the other hand.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:23 pmOh, crap. And here I was, all set to believe the corporate media again.
This Eye-rack bidness is sure confoozin’.
June 30th, 2008 at 1:27 pmGosh, people seem to think that (Gasp!) the Administration might just be less than honest with the American people, their ultimate bosses. Lets think about that for a minute. The Administration might be less than truthful with the world, and an unknown contractor might just give the world the facts. Well, that’s it for me, contractor’s following that quaint old American tradition of Being Honest When It Counts! If Perino or Any Administration official told me I was on Fire I’d find a mirror and look to be sure. Then I’d tear up the bill they sent me for their lying!
June 30th, 2008 at 1:31 pmImpeach Perino, Cheney and Bush and Save the Constitution!
Contractors are responsible to the people holding their contracts.
The current regime is responsible to no one.
Who would you believe?

Are you suggesting these numbers are not reliable? Are you suggesting that GardaWorld just made them up?
Looking at the latest report from the Pentagon, I see no contradiction between the Pentagon and GardaWorld when it comes to the numbers themselves — just the way the numbers are packaged.

The Pentagon’s charts show a buildup of violence until the surge, and then violence levels off to about what it was in 2005, with no further significant drops. The text of the Pentagon report still touts “The security environment in Iraq continues to improve, with all major violence indicators
reduced between 40 to 80% from pre-surge levels.”
GardaWorld’s point is that since that post-surge drop in violence, there has been no significant improvement in the past nine months.
Same data — different packaging.
Now, if you have evidence that the GardaWorld numbers are incorrect, or that the Pentagon has numbers showing significant drop in the violence over the last nine months, by all means, provide us with the link. Just dismissing a contractor as “unreliable” cuts no ice.

This braindead troll, provide a link? You mean as in, having to work & research as opposed to just typing random babble?
Surely you jest…
June 30th, 2008 at 1:44 pmIf I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a hundred times: I do not believe a word that comes out of this administrations mouth about anything.
June 30th, 2008 at 2:17 pmThe only way we’ll know that Iraq is ready to govern & protect itself is when they come together long enough to kick U.S out of their country.
