Limbaugh: ‘I consider myself a defender of corporate America.’»

In a New York Times Magazine profile released online today, right-wing radio talker Rush Limbaugh declares himself “the intellectual engine of the conservative movement.” Described by reporter Zev Chafets as “less a theoretician than a popularizer” whose “concerns are economic,” Limbaugh proudly says, “I consider myself a defender of corporate America.” Limbaugh’s claim is supported by the aggressive manner in which he acts as a “pitchman” for products on his show:

limbaughweb.jpgSome simply run their usual ads. Others use Limbaugh as their pitchman, which costs them a premium and a long-term commitment. And lately he has created a new option. At a much higher rate he will weave a product into his monologue (To a caller who said he took two showers after voting for Clinton in Operation Chaos, Limbaugh responded: “If you had followed my advice and gotten a Rinnai tankless water heater, you wouldn’t have needed to take two showers. And I’ll tell you why. . . .”)

Barfly, I agree, his show is primo entertainment. Megadildos!

  15. paleolib Says:

And with this racist junkie as its “intellectual engine” the conservative movement (not to be confused witha bowel movement) can count on being out of power until long after this wretched hatemonger’s oxycontin-damaged heart pops like a zit. If it takes $400 million to ensure the acolytes of the right act like they live in a tree and talk like they just fell out of said tree then he is worth every penny.

  16. Marie Says:

The lying, corporate whore just got a $400M deal through 2016.

  17. RUCerious Says:

I can’t wait to hear his apopleptic rants after Obama assumes the presidency. Gold, pure gold…His Ana| cyst will swell up like a grapefruit.
He’ll probably need to take solace in some Caribbean youth.

  18. Hussein McCain Says:

Last week he declared that real men don’t go to college. Then he quickly made an exception for the ivy leaguers. I’m not making this stuff up, ladies and gentlemen.

  19. Marie Says:

Try to look at it as the price the elite will pay to have their message broadcast by a drug-addled, propagandist - I’d like to think they will regret their contract with the blowhard, but $400 million is chump-change to them.

  20. Marie Says:

  21. RUCerious Says:

Marie, you mean the kind with sprinkles? YEAH!

  22. dbadass Says:

  23. Red Pill Says:

One can never have enough showers after contact with filth like Limbaugh…

  24. joe cantwell Says:

so i got rid of it.

  25. RUCerious Says:

good return on their investment = thousand of morons whose hatred is stoked to boiling by the bloviations of the RushTurd.

  26. StratRat Says:

He is a whore. Nothing more, nothing less. As for his millions, I hope he chokes on them. He is a pied piper of delusional thinking and his listeners are some of the lowest of the Low Information Voters (LIV). That is nothing to be proud of. History will consider Limbaugh a loser and a shill for what is ailing this country.

  27. Tired of being lied to Says:

So he’ll do anything for a buck. And will do more of it for more bucks. The ultimate whore of radio.

And quite the role model for the conservative movement, I must say.

    not to mention limbaugh’s

    three ex-wives.

    they got a good return

    on their investment too!

    ?

    good luck.

That’s the funniest thing I’ve seen all week, can’t quit laughing.

  32. Dr. Hussein Matt Says:

So, drugbaugh admits that corporations are more important than Americans. How telling.

  33. misshusseinmolly Says:

Did I miss something? When did corporate America need defending? Or is this just a pathetic attempt by Limbaugh to justify his line of work?

Corporate America has been doing rather well, with tax breaks, corporate welfare, relaxed environmental laws, etc. Their biggest problem (fast approaching) is how they are going to continue raking it in now that the people they depend upon to buy their goods and services no longer have any money. Unfortunately, Rush won’t really be able to do anything about that.

  34. katy Says:

this is part of the first paragraph of a letter-to-editor i sent the other day - apropos to this topic:

… you most definitely will not find the TRUTH on the Fox network, TV or radio, or by listening to the drug-addled pompous blowhard Rush (who has almost single-handedly allowed and promoted more damage to this country than anyone, only because he started before the Bush administration could try to finish the job) and any of the other right-wing radio hate and fear mongering LIARS.

    4 more years, huh… ugh.

  35. Bob Says:

George Carlin talking about cigars being a ‘big black dick’ to suck reminded me of RL. Suck it, rush..

    _____________________________________________

Yes, an Obama presidency will be Limbaugh’s wet dream. I thought he might have a problem when the GOP grabbed the White House, both houses of Congress, and the Supreme Court. Poor Rush had to continue blaming the liberals for everything, hoping nobody will notice they had no real power. When the Dems get the power, he’ll go into fresh bloviation, but only his cult will be listening.

Um, no, Brainiac, we DON’T wonder why idiots like you call Progressives “Marxist”. We know it’s because you’re ignorant and ill-informed.

Coincidentally, much of the blame for that condition can be placed at the feet of El Rushbo.

However, now that bring it up… since fascism is essentially a merging of government and corporate interests, we trust that YOU don’t wonder why thinking people describe the current “Conservative Movement” as fascist.

No credence; it is pity. Part of what we try and do around here is to highlight some of the more troubling parts of the political landscape. Whether we like it or not, Limbaugh has a voice in America. His listeners have serious mental issues and we try to make them well by showing where Limbaugh is wrong. If you like Rush, good for you. Bad for your country, but good for you.

I can’t beleive you waste your precious time on this earth to listen to that viagra popping, little girl predator.

If torture works, why not institute it as part of the hiring process for government jobs? We could just waterboard everyone seeking any office and find out who is or isn’t a peculator, corrupt or otherwise unsuitable. We could strap both McCain and Obama to a board and find out all sorts of stuff, like whether Obama really is patriotic despite his lack of flap pins, or if McCain can actually rub two brain cells together once in awhile. Hell if they submitted to it, at least we’d know exactly how bad a candidate wanted the job.

Well, as I have said before, talk radio is the domain of the LIV’s. Most critical thinkers get their information from other sources and would never allow themsleves to be used as a bad joke (dittoheads) by a comedic personality who has trouble with his own hyporicy.

  88. McWars Says:

Gee, Tracy5, you sure know how to talk when no one else is in the room.

The managers that are conservatives, as you claim, usually attain their positions through high friends in high places. The rest do it through integrity and tangible achievement.

  89. gitrdone Says:

This is why liberal radio talkers can’t compete because they are more interested in informing the public, rather than entertaining them.

Limbaugh is living it up, smoking his cigar, laughing all the way to the bank while the devoted listeners cost of living keeps going up day after day….and yet, they still tune in everyday thinking they are part of a family. Well, um, no your not….you are not, you just make Limbaugh lot’s of money, but you will always be 2nd class citizens to this wealth elite that have you by the balls.

  91. IBTunion4obama Says:

defender of corporate America. Yeah, he’s a defender of the very people who are getting richer and receiving those nice Bush tax breaks, getting rich off of their employees who make near minimum wage. I wouldn’t give the guy 4 dollars to speak on my radio show.

  92. IBTunion4obama Says:

Oh yeah, the people that listen to his show are the baby-boomers who continue to run this country in the ground. The same people who voted for Bush, twice. (not all, but majority.)

  93. Rockytonker Says:

Defender of corporate America? Rush, there is no such thing.

There are no major American corporations. They are global, multinational corporations. Their shares are owned by people in many countries. They have no loyalty to America, nor to any other nation. Although they have been given a legal “personhood” (incorporate means to give a body to,) they have no heart, no mind, no soul and no conscience. They exist solely to protect the financial interests of the owners.

They will readily relocate their headquarters to a tax haven to avoid funding our government, then turn around and expect our military to “protect America’s (business) interests abroad.” They will export American jobs to a country with weaker protections for labor and the environment, and then want the Americans who’ve lost their jobs to lay life and limb on the line “to protect America’s (business) interests abroad.”

They are not American, and their defender is no patriot.

  94. republicanSScareme Says:

Russ Limbaugh is also a degenerate. Too bad everybody knows it but him.

  95. marlow Says:

    I consider Limpballs to be:
A terrorist who encourages riots and chaos and the death and destruction they may cause.
    A drug addict.
An availer of child prostitution, what with his viagra-fueled trips to the Dominican Republic, a dirt poor well-known stop on the world sex-tour itinerary.
    A coward.
    A traitor.
The worst example of what the flyblown scum of humanity can sink to and still remain alive.
A living, wheezing monument to the utter moral relativistic vacuum of the Republican Party.
Please Rush, throw a clot into your brain. Please.

  96. bettysdad Says:

When the allegedly “liberal” New York Times puts out a cover story about this steaming turd that allows him to continue to be seen in public, we have a lot of work to do.

BTW - Bosch tankless water heaters are the world standard. Better and far less expensive than Rinnai.
