McCain’s awkward Lieberman problem.

McCain’s awkward Lieberman problem.

hug.gifThe Wall Street Journal’s Laura Meckler notes that “Sen. John McCain says he’s outraged that presidential rival Barack Obama opposed the Senate confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito and Chief Justice John Roberts.” But McCain “seemed a lot less interested in criticizing his close friend” Joe Lieberman for opposing Alito. Lieberman explained his vote by saying, “It was a close call.” Lieberman voted yes on Roberts.

    That is one creepy picture.

I hope McCain chooses Lieberman for VP.

    But…but…but…THAT’S DIFFERENT!!!!

I note that in McCain’s criticism of the types of judges Obama would appoint, McMaverick™ uses as an example to recent death-penalty decision. McSame fails to mention that, of the five justices in the majority on that opinion, McSame voted to confirm four of them. The fifth was confirmed before Grampy was a Senator.

My Gawd, this man does alot of man on man embracing. And not the quick homophobic pat on the back testosterone laced man hug, either.

  6. NOLIESPLEASE says:

Republican Party….DO AS WE SAY NOT AS WE DO….for the good of the country.

This presidential run by McShame is a farce at best and the MSM is trying to make him look competative. This country was not only destroyed by Bush, MSM had a big hand to play in ellimination of the middle class.

  7. ralph the wonder llama says:

As I recall, Holy Joe opposed a filibuster that would have kept Alito off the high court, then turned around and voted against him, knowing full well that Alito would be confirmed and his vote was an empty gesture, that the filibuster had been the only way to defeat the nomination.

It’s a small consolation that LIEberman’s political hypocrisy has now come around to nip at the heels of his BFF John McSame. But Alito is still on the SCOTUS.

  8. Game of Life says:

Wait another hour and mcchimpy will say he never said that.

  9. larkohio says:

I am thrilled that Obama voted against these conservative clowns.

You guys had better quit pointing out McSame’s hypocracy.

You’re going to piss the old coot off.

Maybe Arizona and Connecticut will legalize gay marriage, so they Joey and Johnny can get married.

    Joey (hearts) Johnny…

The reality is that when you fling around a tar-filled brush, you usually get some of it on you. And this often happens with today’s typical political strategy of 1) find something about your opponent that could sound negative with the correct spin on it, 2) convince the media and the voters that it’s a critical issue and a needed litmus test, and 3) hype the heck out of it.

Not only can you get hoist on your own petard, but you can cripple your party in future elections when you do this. Republicans found this out when they decided to make Bill Clinton’s getting out of going to Vietnam an issue in 1992 — they found themselves having to defend Dubya’s service record in 2000.

Wooo, that picture is….well, so Larry Craig like….creeps me out.

Grampy McSame says – My friends back in the day we would all pick on those darn liberals, didn’t matter that we did the same thing, not at all, those liberals discovered fire and then that was that, then the wheel, then more skins for their beds, us regressives didn’t like that, no sir, we like things just like they are, so we would find things they did that we didn’t like and we would do it to and say it was bad for them to do it, yes sir reeee, they told us that we regressives were doomed to extinction, but we showed them, we are like lizards, snakes and cockroaches, you can’t get rid of us…I hope that’s warm oatmeal I just sat in.

Ok, gramps we get it, IOKIARDI

I think obama was wrong anyway, the judges aren’t atleast as politically driven as some.

  16. GeeDubs says:

The judges aren’t at least as politically driven as some? What do you call the Scalia’s dissent about habeas corpus? What do you think about the ‘judges’ basically telling everyone to buy a handgun and start shooting? What planet are you from? The dissent with Guantanamo (basically wanting to gut the Fourth Amendment) and the ruling with the Second Amendment means that Scalia, Roberts and THEIR ilk are willing to shut off portions of the Constitution not to their liking. That’s pretty ‘political’ to me.

    rozerze:
That last one seems super open ended. Might you be more specific?

  18. MapleStreet says:

And as pointed out a few days ago on TP, Roberts didn’t do what he said.

Shouldn’t we congratulate Obama for seeing the wolf in the sheep’s clothing before anyone else ?

  19. WaltinTexas says:

Hypocrisy and illogical double standards are reich-wing traits. This should surprise no one.

  20. GeeDubs says:

What I find interesting is that reich-wing traits such as you describe are surprising only in the breadth of their chutzpah. Like Hugh Hewitt (ewww…I’m trying to keep from heaving) telling George Steponyourpopulice that he hadn’t said the thing about the football game being the last one we’ll see because we’ll be bombed with the ascension of Obama. Arianna tried to call him on it.
