Pentagon inspector general resigns.
This afternoon, the Pentagon announced the resignation of the department’s inspector general (IG) Claude Kicklighter. Labor Department IG Gordon Heddell will be replacing him, making Heddell the third person to hold that position since 2005. Kicklighter was in charge of transforming the Coalition Provisional Authority in its final days into the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Known as a loyalist to both Donald Rumsfeld and Paul Wolfowitz, Kicklighter refused to investigate accusations that Halliburton/KBR employee Jamie Leigh Jones had been gang-raped by her coworkers.

July 2nd, 2008 at 8:59 pmSo this is the Republican who, as the Pentagon’s Inspector General, not only blew off all the rape cases involving Halliburton/KBR, but also turned a blind Republican eye to our soldiers being electrocuted over in Iraq and Afghanistan due to faulty KBR electrical wiring in shower stalls?
The first electrocutions occurred several years ago, with the latest one happening on January 2nd of this year…and this corrupt Kicklighter did nothing to stop our soldiers from dying from faulty KBR wiring during these years?
I served in the U.S.A.F. thirty years ago and not once did I ever worry about getting electrocuted while taking a shower in the barracks.
Is this what the Republican Party has come to today, where one of their ideological crony pals, as the Pentagon Inspector General, can sit idly by for years, while our soldiers are being electrocuted due to faulty wiring having been installed by one of the Republican’s crony corporations?
This goes beyond shameful, and has entered the realm of criminal insanity.

As much as I will criticise the military, I find it deplorable that the construction of their facilities didn’t even come close to meeting basic electrical code. I can understand that the enemy is shooting at them. I can understand some accidental deaths as they perform dangerous duty.
But to attach a live wire to a drain in a shower. Who could have forseen the effect ?

The prospect of a new Attourney General and actual, honest investigations that Will result in arreasts and convictions looms larger and larger every day. The wheels of justice grind sloly, but they do grind exceedingly fine.
