A federal judge said yesterday that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act established by Congress “was the ‘exclusive’ means for the president to eavesdrop on Americans.”
The thing I can’t wrap my mind around is why the repukes are pushing this so hard NOW, when it’s highly likely there will be a Dem in the Oval Office come January. Can anyone enlighten me?

Thus my confusion….If they have other nefarious plans, why give a crap about any soon-to-be irrelevant legislation? If they don’t, why are they pushing it now?

The double standard in the media is sickening.
McCain’s just bought a Boeing jet for themselves and the press is salivating over it because they can get a ride now and then.
Why isn’t anyone tlaking about Cindy McCain and her son actively lobbying against Mothers Against Drunk Drivers? What do you think the Bible Belt would think of that?

I think I just answered my own question — the press knows what they would think, so they keep it quiet.

The BBC is reporting that the carbon credit market, set up under the Kyoto protocol, is being misused:

Arguably, this defeats the whole point of the CDM scheme, set up under the Kyoto climate change protocol, as these projects are getting money for nothing.

The findings reinforce doubts that the CDM is leading to real emission cuts, which is not good news for the effort to combat climate change.

And in one case a company is earning truly staggering sums of money from the carbon credits it is receiving – perhaps as much as $500m (£250m) over a period of 10 years – for a project it says it would have carried out without the incentive of the CDM.

Unfortunately, my presence was required by one of my clients at a defense contractor’s office complex yesterday to consult on some fire sprinkler changes that were needed. This company, one most of you have undoubtedly heard of, had televisions in some corridors and every office I passed. Every single tv was tuned to Fox News. I don’t know why I was surprised, but I was really stunned by the corporate brainwashing going on there. My client told me this company just landed a HUGE contract for some laser bomb thingies or something. I left feeling like I needed a shower.
