Media blackout on ex-prosecutor’s bestselling book accusing Bush of murder.

Vincent Bugliosi is a respected former prosecutor who convicted Charles Manson in 1971. His newest bestselling book is “The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder,” making the case that Bush should be held “criminally responsible” for the deaths of U.S. soldiers in Iraq. The media, however, have responded with a virtual blackout:

07bugliosib190.jpg His publisher and publicist said they had expected that Mr. Bugliosi’s credentials would ensure coverage — he is, after all, fairly mainstream. His last book, a 1,612-page volume on the Kennedy assassination, “Reclaiming History,” which was published last year, sought to debunk the conspiracy theorists. It is being made into a 10-hour miniseries by HBO and the actor Tom Hanks.

Mr. Bugliosi said bookers for cable television, where he has made regular appearances to promote books, have ignored his latest offering. MSNBC and Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” were two outlets Mr. Bugliosi had thought would show interest, but neither did.

The New York Times reports that ABC Radio also refused to accept an ad for the book during the Don Imus show.

Yeah, the TRUTH is a LONELY commodity with the Bush WAR CRIMINALS and their SYCOPHANT "msm".

  2. hussein toasterhead Says:

Democracy Now had Bugliosi on a month ago.

Blackout/blackballed. Shades of McCarthyism 1950s style.

  4. barfly Says:

Wiht a title like that, its no wonder the Daily Show took a pass. Precious little humor to be found, there.

  5. SpoxLogic Says:

Take it viral. It's obvious the MSM is not interested in doing anything that will piss off the Administration.

This is what happens when a few entities own almost all the media in this country.

  6. barfly Says:

It's only murder when it involves a few people.

This is viewed by the corporate elite as more a strategic error.

  7. Fan of Man Says:

but bush (the a$$hole MURDERER) said he believes in free speech.... unless its against him.

This is the atmosphere Americans live in today. The sheeple don't even notice, and think we're the crazy ones for trying to make them pay attention.

You guys act like the President of the United States lying to gain support for an illegal invasion and the commission of war crimes and the theft of billions of tax dollars is news.

How can something as insignificant as the destruction of America trump what J-Lo is wearing or what Britney Spears is up to?

    Priorities, people, please.

That's why the administration has to keep spying on us all, to make sure we don't know about any books that describe their crimes.

  13. Tired of being lied to Says:

This would be the same left-wing, liberal controlled, media that Hannity, Rove, and that ilk all complain about? They are the ones blocking this book?

  14. Bob Says:

More proof that the 'liberal' media is a myth. Although, the title is lacking in subtlety, and everyone knows how Americans can't handle frank, truthful discussion. Also, if they give air time to this, they'd have to give equal time to 'St. bush the greatest thinking leader ever', and that's not even available in fiction.

  15. Paul W Says:

His newest bestselling book is “The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder,” making the case that Bush should be held “criminally responsible” for the deaths of U.S. soldiers in Iraq. The media, however, have responded with a virtual blackout.

Bush has killed more Americans than Osama bin Laden has. He's killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. His approval ratings are in the toilet. But as far as the media's concerned it's the left that are the nut jobs. What do you have to do in order to be considered sane in this country, strip naked and run around killing people with a hatchet?

  16. AlphaLiberal Says:

Wow. That really is something. I checked Wisconsin Public Radio which tends to be more fearless than most. But they have only covered his Kennedy Assassination book.

What explains this? Is it fear? Are we still in that post-9/11 self-censorship period where The Leader must not be criticized?

But you contrast this to the trash on any Democrat the nets will run with and it's a pretty disgusting example of corporate media bias.

  17. RUCerious Says:

Will there be a sequel? How about 'The Prosecution of George W. Bush for mass murder, genocide and embarassing the shit out of our country at the G-8 Summit'?

Let's see, straightforward uncritical reporting of not-so-Swift-Boater attacks on the war record of a three time Purple Heart recipient, check. Twenty-four hour coverage of an impeachment based on lying about a BJ, check. Ignore a work by a successful prosecutor and best selling author making the case for murder against a chief executive whose lies and/or incompetence resulted in a five plus year war and occupation that has killed or exiled over ten percent of the population of the target country, check.

There goes that librul media again.

I think all those tax breaks for the rich, and the deregulation of the corporate media monopolies (two of the real "success stories" of the Bush administration) have earned Bush a de facto pardon.

  22. AlphaLiberal Says:

From the article, this is a real gem of a quote from John Meacham, Newsweek editor:

“I think there’s a kind of Bush-bashing fatigue out there.”

How can there be "Bush-bashing fatigue" from our media? Bush-ass-kissing fatigue, I could see.

And, newsflash to the editor: It's your job to report the news, not say "Aww, I don't wanna."

  24. Freedom Rebel Says:

Mr. Bugliosi should have called the book "“The Prosecution of George W. Bush for MASS Murder." I think that would be stating it more accurately.

It is a sad reflection of the times we are in that even "The Daily Show" has no interest. When does genocide rate enough to make the news?

  28. gummitch Says:

Although I'm not surprised that Bugliosi's book has been traveling under the radar of the librulmedia, what I think is most interesting about the story is that the book has still managed to reach #14 on the NYT Bestseller list. It's also 94 on Amazon's list of books, which is respectable enough for a book that had gotten reviews. What all this tells me is that mainstream book reviews and radio/tv coverage is rapidly becoming entirely irrelevant. And, seriously, who reads book reviews anyway? (I say this as someone who wrote book reviews for more than a decade, back when it mattered.)

  29. lokidog Says:

Bugliosi should have written a book instead detailing how GW broke the Manson case wide open while he (Chimpy) was an undercover drug addict/alchoholic with the Family back at Spohn Ranch.

ABC would make it a movie and O'Rielly would have given him a full hour.

  30. barfly Says:

The Villagers are all circling the wagons around Bush, so their own asses aren't exposed.

They're scared of Pelosi, because they see in her a cunning political strategist, and a ruthless political player. Nixon in high-heels. The Villagers know if they go against Pelosi's already-stated agenda by politicizing the book, they'll be rewarded for their efforts with a Pelosi-led blackball of journalists (and media outlets) by the dem leadership. All their contacts in "the permanent republican majority" will do little good, if they are in the wasteland together.

    3) Tell those companies you express your own opinion with your wallet; stop buying their products until we all see the demise of the Fox "News" Channel as we know it.

Is it a great mystery why, at this point, a sensationalist bush-basher, with nothing new, is being rebuffed?.

  33. Zimzone Says:

When I read the Manson book, I saw the story through the 'eyes' of the Prosecutor. I thought the book was dry & humorless, but Bugliosi did a good job in portraying the facts.

I have not read this one yet.

As gummitch points out, the book is doing well, despite the apparent blackballing by the msm.

I thank the author for his contribution to the 'Bush Chronicles', and hope many people who look for truth read this.

  34. IgnoranceIsNotBliss Says:

I finished reading this book about two weeks ago and it is an excellent book. It's very well written and sourced and his arguments for prosecution are very compelling.

Heh, he even invited Rush Limbaugh to a two hour debate. But rejected the "wannabes" as he doesn't have time for them.

  35. DieNowForPeace Says:

Actually, there is a pretty sizable basis for it. That's why Bugliosi was able to write an entire book about the culpability of the Bush regime for murder.

It's only sensationalism if you're a loyal Bushie.

    _______

That's not what the author believes:

Interestingly enough, there have been billions of very harsh critical words written and said about George Bush, none of which he could possibly care less about. So the words are absolutely meaningless. But up until now, other than words, no one has done anything at all to George Bush. No impeachment, no investigation of him.

But this book here, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder, in it, I put together a case against George Bush that could result—it absolutely could result in his being prosecuted for first-degree murder in an American courtroom. I set forth the legal architecture against him, the overwhelming evidence of his guilt and the jurisdiction to prosecute him. And I say that if justice means anything at all in America, and if we’re not going to forget about these 4,000 young American soldiers who are in their cold graves right now as I am talking to you and who came back from George Bush’s war in a box or a jar of ashes, I say we have no choice but to bring murder charges against the son of privilege from Crawford, Texas.

TV programs don't review books much any more. And they especially don't want to cover divisive books. The typical author today is probably Rachel Ray.

  58. shoeless Says:

I heard Vincent Bugliosi on Air America. He claimed all he needs to convict Bush of murder are the memos of a meeting with Tony Blair, in which Bush put forward a plan to paint a US spy plane with UN colors and insignia in order to provoke Saddam Hussein, and claim Hussein shot down a UN jet. These memos prove that Bush knew Hussein was not a threat, and you cannot claim self defense in court if you provoked or planned to provoke the person you supposedly considered a threat.

  59. green Says:

I also read the book and Bugliosi makes a compelling case for the prosecution of GWB for first degree murder. It is a must read for anyone who cares about our country. From what I've heard there are some prosecutors out there and a republican congressman - and family members of dead soldiers - taking this very seriously.

Heard the author, Vincent Bugliosi, on a re run on Mike Malloy's show this past week end. Hearing this author, you walk aw2ay feeling justice will actually prevail.

And, not only is there a media black out, but Vincent Bugliosi had to go outside of the US in order to make the audio form of his book as NO ONE here would do it.

  65. Uosdwis Says:

Jon Stewart SAW 9/11 in person. That's why he won't have Vince on. Same for every other person in the NYC media, all 3 major anchors, etc. But Bugliosi shot down the 9/11 argument in the book: why does Bush get CREDIT for something he had to do. You get credit for making a difficult decision. The decision to invade Afghanistan was not hard. The decision to stand on ground zero and rally the workers was not hard. But because we are a nation of idiots, schooled by the MSM, this is where we are. 9/11 excuses everthing. Still, it just takes ONE US Attorney or District Attorney mad enough and politically brave enough to get this started, AFTER GEORGE LEAVES OFFICE. So give up on impeachment.

How come an intellectually dishonest hack like Jonah Goldberg can spend two months going from show to show talking about a book that is a work of complete nonsense, and an accomplished and respected legal mind with real gravitas like Vincent Bugliosi gets the stiff arm?

  73. curious Says:

So what else is new? The days of a free objective press have long since over. It is strictly corporate now. Bland news. With no follow up. Missing so much regarding everything. They cannot be bothered.

Mr.Bugliosi is spitting into the wind. The fact that he is right is nearly beside the point. These Republican criminals will walk away. Bush will go to his 28,000 acres in Paraguay with no extradition. Cheney will go to Dubai where Haliburton now resides. And the rest will go to K Street, or some think tank where no one thinks. And all will write books filled with self serving justification. Since black is now white and double speak is the norm. They will continue to lie.

And men like Bugliosi and Kucinich etc. will be thought of on cold nights as fond figures and heroes. The kind that tilt at windmills. And we will wish we had them back. When our mouths have been shut by the government and our rights are all gone.

  74. Mark701 Says:

Americans have trouble with cold hard facts. Any book that deals with the crimes of the Bush Administration must ask the question of why we didn't do anything about it. This is why this book is having trouble getting airtime, not because the media is afraid of it but because it will force us to acknowledge how, through our inaction, we enabled him to commit these crimes.
