Fiorina: ‘It may be Barack Obama who is running for Bush III.’»

Last night on Bloomberg TV, McCain economic adviser Carly Fiorina repeated the laughable claim first offered by McCain economic adviser Douglas Holtz-Eakin that Sen. Barack Obama — not John McCain — would be a third Bush term. Fiorina said:

I think if you look at the record, it may be Barack Obama who is running for Bush III. But it certainly is not John McCain.

Watch it:

Even conservative pundit Bob Novak found this argument to be “the silliest thing I have ever heard.” McCain – who voted with Bush 100 percent of the time in 2008 and 95 percent of the time in 2007 – is “totally in agreement” with the president on the “most important issues of the day.” As McCain’s chief surrogate Lindsey Graham has said, McCain’s policies would “absolutely” be an “extension” and “enhancement” of Bush’s.

Transcript:

I find it quite interesting that Barack Obama would claim that John McCain’s economic plan is the same as a Republican plan for the last 30 or 40 years. It’s just not true. And in fact, I find it particularly interesting because it was Barack Obama who voted for the pork-laden agricultural subsidy bill that President Bush went ahead and signed into law. John McCain voted against it.

And it was Barack Obama who voted for the Bush-Cheney energy bill, which gave a lot of giveaways to big oil. John McCain voted against it. So I think if you look at the record, it may be Barack Obama who is running for Bush III. But it certainly is not John McCain.

How far we’ve come. Since when is being called Bush (or associated in any way with him) an insult in Republican circles?

All I can say is: They were all for Bush, before they were against him.

What a major, collective, massive flip-flop!

  2. tnrc75 Says:

Democrats really, really, when that is posed, ask why the Republican speaker is so sharply distancing themself from their party’s President. They need to be reminded that he is theirs. Every.Goddamn.Time.

  3. spencers mom Says:

How Rovian… the more absurd the charge, the more the American lapdogs will eat it up.

We HAVE to take back the White House this fall, or else!

    PEACE

  4. Gregor Samsa Says:

And I though that Pres Bush was responsible for the “roaring” economy of the last 8 years.

Weren’t we told time and again by “pundits” of the right that the “fundamental underpinnings” (whatever the hell that is) of the American economy were strong?

Turns out that on this one, just like with Iraq’s WMD and many other things, the Bush kool-aid drinkers were wrong. Imagine that.

Bush is the worst president. No question about that now when even his own party can’t run away fast enough from him and his sorry record.

  5. Game of Life Says:

what a freakin joke chimpy and mcchimpy are.

Yep, and I jumped over a rainbow and I know the dish ran away with the spoon, I saw it, really.

    repugs lack common knowledge

  6. dasm Says:

And they expect anyone to believe this crap? Republicans = stupid fact twisters. They have truly become pathetic.

  7. ralph the wonder llama Says:

No, no, this is good news.

    It means they’ve got nothin’.

  8. JosephP Says:

This is a very Rovian tactic—loudly and adamantly accuse your opponent of doing exactly what you yourself are doing. This tactic is used regardless of how absurd the charge may be or how much more it may apply to yourself. By doing this, any attempt to point out the obvious fact that the accusation better fits the accuser is minimized, because it appears to be merely a counter-charge.

It is sad that McCain has diverged so greatly from being a straight talker to embracing the playbook of George W. Bush’s sleazemeister.

  9. jay_severin_has_a_small_pen1s Says:

There’s no way I’m voting for Obama then!

  10. Badmoodman Says:

Would the 61-year old librarian have been booted from the McCain townhall meeting the other night if her sign read:

    Obama = Bush

  11. Freedom Rebel Says:

No matter how they try to spin it or rephrase it

    Bush = McMini-me

McCain will always be a Bush clone.

  12. Paul W Says:

You gotta wonder if these people even listen to what they’re saying. Most of the time I think they’re just reading from a script of talking points without ever bothering to check if they’re making any sense.

what’s the matter with the msm when they take mcchimpy to heart. they sound like pre-program idiots. here is the bs we get from the msm. the msm lub mcchimpy. Is that a reason to be partial and lie for the old crazy coot?

Even Sen. Obama’s seniors seem more spunky than mcchimpy’s crowd.

  14. Game of Life Says:

hey jay with your small noodle.

  15. Alecto Says:

“I know you are, but what am I”

    Na Na a poo poo.

  16. lokidog Says:

How Rovian… the more absurd the charge, the more the American lapdogs will eat it up.

    Absolutely.

Rove 101: Accuse the opposition of exactly what you are guilty of.

  17. Jim Wolf359 Says:

This from a FORMER CEO who got tossed after nearly running Hewlett Packard into the ground. What an Idiot! The McInsane Campaign is getting desperate.

My bad. Had my post sittin’ while on the phone. I should have checked.

    You said it much better.

  19. John Kerry Says:

    NOT so laughable at all!!

BAsed on Obama Carter’s recent flip flops on EVERYTHING it’s looking like he’s going to the right on MANY issues so calling him BUSH 3 is actually right on the button!

    You libs have been conned!

  20. Jim Wolf359 Says:

Poor JK, drinking too much of the Kool-Aid again. You really need to lay of that shit, man. Not good for you troll.

  21. Marie Says:

Maybe McCain will choose her for VP — she is such a b!tch — and she doesn’t have her talking points straight either.
Yesterday she advocated birth control coverage under insurance plans — she forgot McCain opposes that.
I don’t think they liked her too much at HP either.

  22. upside99 Says:

    Marie,

I DO hope she is the choice. Anyone that ever worked for H-P, Compaq or DEC would NEVER vote for that be-otch. She had the worst rep in the H-P HQ, never would ask for input, always winged it and ripped anyone who disagreed with her.

  23. Brain From Planet Arous Says:

The only thing I see lockstep with Bush by Obama is his Police State capitulation on the FISA bill giving immunity to the law breaking telecoms. Of course, his AIPAC-sucking is familiar, but overall, on domestic issues, I don’t see Obama as similar to Bush or McNuts.

I hope the poster John Kerry is not correct, but Obama is getting more and more suspicious every day. The other choice, McNuts is horrible,

  24. ForTruth Says:

I’m fairly sure HP doesn’t miss the b|tch.

  25. DallasNE Says:

She is a fine one to be talking. HP floundered while she was CEO and it took off right after she was fired. Her credibility is absolutely zero. She probably thinks she would be named Secretary of the Treasury in a McCain administration. Now, that should spook the markets!

  26. chamay0 Says:

I am so tired of this old song. Obama is not, will not and have no intention of running for Bushes Third Term. The difference between Obama and McCain is is so obvious that it is stupid. McCain is old and only want to keep the same old policies rolling (his only goal is to win, not giving a damn about the people). People are so lazy. They want to know the truth but not search for it. They wait for the media to tell them what is right and what is wrong. Enough! Pick who you believe in, not who any one tells you to believe in and learn the real facts. Otherwise, do what most people do, sit at home eating popcorn saying, “oh, he lost. I really liked his ideas.” We can (only every 4 years) make a difference. Take a stance or shut up.

  27. ralph the wonder llama Says:

Troll John Kerry, you used to be so much more fun. What’s up, dude?

    Let us help.

  28. republicanSScareme Says:

If I was Carly Fiorina I would run for the nearest industrial strength enema.

  29. aarrgghh Says:

i’m not actually a surrogate, but i play one on tv. and four out of five surrogates agree: bush sucks!

  30. ucsbclassics53 Says:

    NOT so laughable at all!!

BAsed on Obama Carter’s recent flip flops on EVERYTHING it’s looking like he’s going to the right on MANY issues so calling him BUSH 3 is actually right on the button!

    You libs have been conned!

Gee, how original…did you get Obama Carter from the GOP talking points memo? First we have barack ocarter and now this…damn get some originality…

McCain flip-flops all the time, but IOKIYAR…

  31. Uosdwis Says:

You know, that’s all we have to do: say the opposite of what is the generally accepted common wisdom about John McCain. “He wants to raise taxes on you. He is soft on terrorism and crime. He wants abortions for everyone. He wants to get out of Iraq and Afghanistan. He wants universal healthcare. He wants us to reduce greenhouse gases. He wants to move to solar and wind power. He was not a POW. He was not even IN Vietnam, or the Navy.” Hey, it should work with dumbass voters who are falling for the “Obama wants to stay in Iraq” line.

  32. Evil Spaniard Says:

There goes the Bush Legacy! Not even McPander wants to be associated with such a loser.

  33. ccrider27 Says:

Ok, let’s see. I used to be an Obama supporter until about 10 days ago. Since that time he has:

    - adopted the Bush position on FISA

    - expanded the Bush position on faith based organizations

    - praised the Bush appointed Supreme Court justices on gun control and the death penalty

    - condemned MoveOn.org

    - defended his patriotism, by casting doubt on the patriotism of ‘the so-called counter-culture of the Sixties’ - sounding like Jeanne Kirkpatrick’s 1984 RNC speech

    - condemned Wesley Clark’s remarks in a knee jerk reaction to the corporate press

Why…I believe we might have something here.

Why do you think he and Hillary were the only ones to get any face time during the Democratic debates?

There is no Republican-Democrat any more. That’s just what it says on the curtain. Pull it back and you have the Corporate Party. And it doesn”t matter who you vote for.

  34. Bozo The Neoclown Says:

Fiorina drove HP into the ground until she got booted under a vote of no confidence. Now, she’s doing the same thing with the McLame campaign. Way to go, sister, keep up the good work.

  35. Art Says:

I guess that means that at least 24% of the electorate is going to vote for Obama.

  36. techsong Says:

Carly is either very stupid or reading the Karl Rove playbook Chapter on “Suggest the ridiculous”. She is truly counting on very stupid listeners.

  37. DaTruth Says:

Fuori fuori fuori Fiorina! She’s one of the ‘have mores’ who, after 8yrs of tax cuts and having more, has lost her mind. What a dumb-ass ho!
