On Sunday, the New York Times’ Bill Kristol devoted an entire column to proclaim his prediction that conservative strategist Mike Murphy would be joining the McCain campaign. “I expect that in the next couple of weeks we’ll learn that Murphy is coming on board as chief strategist,” he said. Today, Murphy announced he would not be joining the campaign:
“I do not expect to join the campaign,” Murphy said. “They’re my friends, and I wish them well.”
“No one discussed or offered Mike the strategist’s job,” a McCain advisor said yesterday. So much for the “Kristol Ball“:
The New York Times has been forced to clean up Kristol’s factual errors three times in just six months.

Do any of these 17th century Republicans ever get anything right? Wake me when it’s over…
July 8th, 2008 at 5:17 pmour strikes for the Kristol Ball.
But he’s not out is he? They never are.

July 8th, 2008 at 5:19 pmA reich-winger that is wrong? Pffffffft, get out of here!
July 8th, 2008 at 5:20 pmKristol really ought to have that diarrhea of the mouth looked at.
July 8th, 2008 at 5:22 pmNobody could have predicted that Bill Kristol could not have predicted anything.
July 8th, 2008 at 5:23 pmAgain, someone on the right side IS WRONG! Shame would normally require Kristol’s immediate resignation, but let’s face it, Kristol has no shame - and doesn’t appear to be on any kind of diet, which I suggest he do right away.
July 8th, 2008 at 5:27 pm“Oh Bill Kristol, are you ever right?”
July 8th, 2008 at 5:32 pm- Jon Stewart
I say we smash those Kristol balls between two sledgehammers. They don’t seem to be working.
July 8th, 2008 at 5:33 pmShouldn’t it just be “Kristol Bull?”
July 8th, 2008 at 5:37 pmI think it will be more reliable and easier to report only those things Kristol “gets right.”
July 8th, 2008 at 5:37 pmHas Kristol ever predicted anything correctly?
July 8th, 2008 at 5:38 pmSure would save a LOT of time.
July 8th, 2008 at 5:43 pmBill Kristol is the contrapositive Cassandra. He prophecies news that never happens
July 8th, 2008 at 5:45 pmBill loves war, hates the middle class and the poor, thinks Bush is too liberal, and offers his services to McCain. He’s just the right ticket for the straight hawk express.
July 8th, 2008 at 5:46 pmI predict Kristol will be wrong at least once more before November.
July 8th, 2008 at 5:56 pmBusted Kristol’s balls, er ah, ball.
July 8th, 2008 at 6:06 pmBe thankful. Kristol being correct about something is one of the signs of the apocalypse (not to be a downer but so is electing a sociopathetic mouth breather as president so it could still happen).
July 8th, 2008 at 6:09 pmLooks like Vampire “The Swami” Kristol’s Fox News crystal ball need a serious repair. Heckava job, NYT, for keeping this incompentant clown on the payroll.
July 8th, 2008 at 6:20 pmWe may end up eating crow on this one. In order to qualify for McPander Bear’s campaign one must establish a pattern of contradiction. So, of course, any prospective flunky must proclaim they “will not take a job on his campaign team” at some point.
Plus I don’t think McPander Bear’s campaign is looking to add to payroll. Either way there’s plenty of time for Mr. Murphy to become an unpaid consultant and make this particular prediction true.
July 8th, 2008 at 6:28 pmEh. Kristol, wrong?
Dog bites man.
Again.
July 8th, 2008 at 6:29 pmHas Kristol ever been right? I guess that’s not important to the NYTimes. Just as long as he’s conservative, that’s what’s important.
July 8th, 2008 at 6:35 pmWell, look at who he is an ‘expert’ commentator for; Faux NoNooz, so there ya go.
And his Weakly (sub)standard hasn’t gotten anything right since he started it with his NeoCon Daddy’s money and is now owned by Rupert.
July 8th, 2008 at 6:35 pmpete, I was thinking the same thing.
If McSame is interested in this guy, how can his word be trusted?
July 8th, 2008 at 6:36 pmYep. People who stick to an ideal, or pay attention to the words which come out of their own mouths and attempt to consistently express support for a given position based on its inherent strengths, would find McCain’s staff a hostile work place.
And God help ‘em if they are prone to examine past statements and critique the glaring contradictions in more recent statements.
July 8th, 2008 at 6:42 pmHo Hum, Killy Bristol wrong againandagainagainandagainagainandagainagainandagainagainandagain
July 8th, 2008 at 6:51 pmKristol loves Israel first, right?
I thought so…traitor!!!
July 8th, 2008 at 7:08 pmDon’t insult Republicans of the past. They used to be more intelligent than the current crop of neo-CONs.

July 8th, 2008 at 7:27 pmDo any of these 17th century Republicans ever get anything right? Wake me when it’s over…
Why is this news, anyway? Wouldn’t it be real news if Broken-Kristol-ball ever got something correct?
July 8th, 2008 at 7:28 pmThinkProgress,
May I humbly suggest, for a far more efficient use of your time, to keep a list of the things Kristol actually got right.
It will be a much, much shorter list. Easier for us to carry around and read, too.
We can safely assume that anything not on that list is what Kristol got wrong, including -but not limited to- the situation in Iraq, and the color of the sky.
July 8th, 2008 at 7:41 pmThe warmonger chickenhawk, bloody Bill Kristol, just makes stuff up. He has been wrong for so long I do not understand why anyone ever pays any attention to him. Why does he get any space other than on the FAUX NOIZ channel where he is speaking to their viewers what they want to hear.
July 8th, 2008 at 9:08 pmThe same old republican problem rears its ugly head….billy kristol has no balls and ann coulter has an adam’s apple…they are both misfits lost in the ocean of reality.
July 8th, 2008 at 10:24 pmThen again, Kristol’s job is not to be right -or correct- about anything.
His real job is to sell the neocon agenda and to get the sheep to toe the line. He does a good job at that, which is why he is rewarded with air time to spew his nonsense.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:15 amKristol ball? Kristol ball? How about kristol bore? I can’t understand why anyone still listens to this stiff. I think he talks and writes for his own ego. No one takes him seriously. He’s a Neo-Nitwit, and the Neo-Nitwit are done, toast, over and out.
