Bush to G8: ‘Goodbye from the world’s biggest polluter.’

gbtree.jpgAs he prepared to leave Japan on the last day of the G8 summit, President Bush “signed off with a defiant farewell over his refusal to accept global climate change targets at his last G8 summit”:

…He told his fellow leaders: “Goodbye from the world’s biggest polluter.

President Bush made the private joke in the summit’s closing session, senior sources said yesterday. His remarks were taken as a two-fingered salute from the President from Texas who is wedded to the oil industry.

The right couldn’t be happier about the President’s destructive “private jokes.” The conservative Gateway Pundit writes, “Horray! Bush Gives Global Warming Religionists the Finger.” (HT: FireDogLake)

Update After Bush delivered his "private joke" about his poor environmental record, he "punched the air while grinning widely, as the rest of those present including Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy looked on in shock," the Telegraph reports.

I am so tired of a president who regularly embarrasses the entire country. He is like the drunken uncle at a wedding, you just want him to shut up and go away.

  5. DieNowForPeace says:

Bush is no different than Chris Farley’s character in Black Sheep.

    -a bumbling, embarrassing dipshit.

  6. opus says:

What a boob. You can always rely on Dubbya to insult at least one world leader, but now he’s even outdone himself.

  7. paleolib says:

When you elect a Texas a$$hole to represent your country you can’t act surprised when he acts and talks like an a$$hole. Hopefully the comatose electorate remembers that when contemplating voting for a barely animated corpse who “jokes” about killing Iranians.

  8. belac says:

except Chris Farley was actually funny, not ‘f’ you- that’s funny’

  9. katy says:

    what’s a “two-fingered salute”?

that would be the “peace sign”, the V-for-victory sign… not?

    a double-fisted-middle-finger salute, is more like it…

It’s not only that. I give Bush lots of room because any thinking person would have known well before 2000 that Bush was a failure and a loser. He’s a jabbering idiot who simply cannot help himself – remember the picture of him shoving food in his mouth and speaking? It’s what he is.

I am scared of the reaction of the right side. They really love the way W flips off the world. Maybe its another way for Low Information Voters (LIV) to feel good about themselves; vicariously living through Bush’s world. Maybe it gives the irrelevant right side a battle to fight, or a cause to champion. Whatever it is, it is destructive and juvenile. Well, I guess it is the GOP, isn’t it?

    katy Says:
    what’s a “two-fingered salute”?

Katy, in Europe, holding up two fingers (middle and index) is considered the equivalent to our ‘flipping the bird”.

  12. ralph the wonder llama says:

That Dumbya is a class act.

The class is third, but class all the same.

    what’s a “two-fingered salute”?

The article is from a British paper. The two-fingers is their equivalent of the bird, delivered in the reverse of the peace or V-sign.

  14. Leftside Annie says:

    Oh. My. God.

Why hasn’t the world risen up and flattened this stupid arrogant SOB???

So, after Georgie said “goodbye from the world’s biggest polluter”, did he give Silvio Berlusconi a wedgie and cop a feel from Angela Merkel?

Tell me he at least slipped a whoopie cushion on Gordon Brown’s chair?

  19. shoeless says:

Funny thing is, I remember lots of people back in 2000 saying, “Bush or Gore, who cares. It doesn’t really matter who the president is.”

  20. Leftside Annie says:

Bush is the type of MF-ing idiot who would use a Sharpie to draw a mustache on the Mona Lisa – and then brag about it.

    Assh*le.

Bush to G8: ‘Goodbye from the world’s biggest polluter.’

    – - Michelle Obama may want to revise her statement of finally being proud to be an American.

  22. DwH says:

He is an as*hole, and so are his supporters. There, I’ve said it.

    I give this sh*thead a one-fingered salute.

  23. aquarius2 says:

This man is a total embarrassment to the nation. Does he not know or care about the significance of statements as seen by the rest of the world? Oh wait, no he doesn’t because he treats everyone, including the citizens of this country, as idiots. It is a wonder that Bush has never looked in the mirror to see one of the most ignorant and stupid men to walk this earth.

  29. And the beat goes on says:

And why shouldn’t he? The US Senate and House have allowed him to break the laws and crap all over the constitution with impunity. They have not made him accountable for any of his lawless actions. They hold hearing after hearing and issue strongly worded letters. I’d say they have pretty much told him he can do whatever he wantsand let the chips fall where they may. Yeah, he should be embarrassed to even showing his chimpy face in public but so should every American who has allowed this behavior to continue for almost 8 years. You know, if he feels he’s been given a referendum he’s probably right.

  30. A Patriot Acting says:

Well this just proves that Tommy Franks was wrong. Doug feith is the second stupidest mother f#cking guy on the planet. You would think by now that some patriotic secret service agent would have boxed this assclown’s ear by now.

  32. Peter C says:

We are not his constituents; we naver have been. Bush’s constituents have always only been the ‘haves’ and the ‘bave mores’. Such people are always the least interested in curbing consumption or regulating the emmissions of industry. They have the resources to keep their personal environment pristine and they consider collective action to benefit public wellbeing as merely confiscatory.

  33. A Patriot Acting says:

He’ll probably leave an unflushed turd in the Oval Office bathroom when he leaves in January.

  34. DaTruth says:

What a disgrace these last 8yrs under idiot’s rule have been! The dumb turkey has no shame nor respect. I never thought the day would come that I would feel ASHAMED of being an American! The 30-something precent that support this idiot are the ‘havemores’ pigs.

    Katy:

    It’s not an upside-down V, it’s a back of the hand out V as opposed to . . .

The peace sign, and Churchill’s V for Victory sign. Those are the first and middle finger up with the palm toward the viewer.

In the movie Hot Fuzz, in case anyone saw it, they use that gesture twice.

  41. upside99 says:

At least there is one true statement that Dubya has made in his almost 8-year reign of terror.

  42. tom says:

The anagram is “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge”, I believe. At any rate, please clean up your previous post and resubmit it. I would like to know more about the origin of the “two-fingered salute”.

  43. tom says:

Oh, and by the way, GDumbya could have used many, many different words at the end of the phrase “goodbye from the world’s biggest _______”. Several come to mind but good taste prevents me from including them in this posting.

  44. 5th Estate says:

One more try: The Two fingered salute:

Katy, in Europe, holding up two fingers (middle and index) is considered the equivalent to our ‘flipping the bird”.

Nope. It’s British though of course a lot of continental Europeans have come to learn what it means, which is “go forth and multiply”-off! (happy now, censors?).
Popular history has it that the gesture originated as a taunt by Welsh longbow-men to their enemies, showing that they still had their “bow fingers” to draw the string and loose the arrow.
The longbow made of yew and most expertly used by the Welsh in particular was the most lethal infantry weapon in European combat (until gunpowder was introduced). Supposedly a captured longbowman would have his bow fingers cut-off (if he were kept alive for some reason), hence the importance of the fingers as a taunt.

Exactly how the gesture came about is actually more obscure, but the meaning is precise and it is distinctly British.

The term “village idiot” should be reserved for run-of-the-mille imbeciles. I think that Texas will be getting its “state idiot” back on January 20th.

No, Reagan gutted the mental health system. Poor people with mental illness now end up homeless. So, Bush would be out on the street.

  54. MapleStreet says:

I know that Bush and McSame have been compared a lot. Would I be going too far to suggest that the wildly belligerant and insulting humor being a “joke” is another similarity ????

  55. Evil Spaniard says:

Probably this sort of imbecility passes for a friendly joke somewhere in the Texass backwoods, but believe me, it does not fare well with all the other countries, specially the ones in Europe. Oh, I get that giving the finger to the “elitist” Europeans is humorous down there, too, but well, what goes around comes around. The world moves forward, no matter if the Republicans have temper tantrums or not.

Three cheers for George W. Bush for saying what needs to be said. The environment-wackos have way too much power. All I have to say to them is: Global Warming Schmobal Warming.

15 years ago they were talking about Global Cooling.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

  61. Smokey says:

It’s interesting none of you smart guys (including the writer of this blurb and Andrew Grice), seem to know that George W. Bush is not from Texas. A small detail, I suppose, but a good one to get correct.
