Rove skips out on Judiciary Committee hearing.

Today, Karl Rove was set to appear under subpoena before the House Judiciary Committee to discuss the politicization of the Justice Department. Yesterday, Rove’s lawyer wrote a letter declaring Rove would not testify, citing executive privilege:

Mr Rove will respectfully decline to appear on July 10 on the grounds that as a close advisor to the President, whose testimony is sought in connection with his official duties in that capacity, he is immune from compelled Congressional testimony.

After Rove proved to be a no-show today, the panel voted 7-1 to rule that Rove’s claims of immunity under executive privilege are invalid.

Well, that’s a lie right off the bat. There’s no respect anywhere in his refusal to honor a subpoena.

    Arrest the MFer.

The panel needs to get off their butts and do their job.

    Enough of the shenanigans already.

  4. Bob says:

They couldn’t see this coming and vote immunity invalid before he was scheduled to appear?

The important question is what will this lame committee do next? Go get the fat pig and arrest him, now!!!

OK, Dems, time to send a nasty letter…no, make that a Registered letter.

  9. nanlichi says:

I say let’s cut him a deal. He can get away with the Executive Privilege canard if we get to jam an apple in his mouth, shove a big spit up his ass, roast him over coals and serve him at the RNC convention.

And if he doesn’t accept the deal, arrest the pus gut pig and throw him in jail. It might feel like apples and spits, but they would just be cellmates saying hi.

I think the only thing the majority of Americans care about is American Idol or Wheel of Fortune.

It appears that the latest RNC trend is toward the Concern Troll. Maybe they think that their talent base is better suited to handle the less rigorous demands of such a tactic.

It appears that they are wrong about that.

This issue unfortunately needs to drag out until the next Administration is in office. There can be no chance of a presidential pardon for this, the most aggregious, divisive unelected pig to have ever routed through the WH. He deserves to be hung for all the treasonous antics he has involved himself in from outing an undercover CIA agent to trying to destroy our multi party system in his failed attempt at permanent Republican rule. He would be thrilled with being brought up on charges while Bush is still there to protect him. It’s kind of a loyalty badge for these pathetic Repub whores. Let him smuggly spew his venom over at FAUX News for now. This pig’s time will surely come.

Even the Republicans want nothing to do with King George’s tribe.

My question to all your readers: What are you going to do to stop these people from making money on this corruption?

Feith and Gonzales can’t get a job. Let’s keep up the good work. Now let’s make sure Rove doesn’t make money going to the Texas Realtor’s Conference. Realtors are protesting. We should object too.

The ThinkFast thread is generally considered an open thread, where you may discuss any topic you like as long as you’re not spamming.

You may also submit a tip for a thread, if you prefer. There’s a block for this purpose on the right side of the screen. Making your tip clear and concise, and including meaningful links will increase your chances of being considered.

The rest of the threads are for specific topics. If the topic isn’t to your liking, please just stay out of the thread instead of attempting to derail it.

It’s true that most of us don’t care about Rove nearly as much as we care about how much current and former Bushco people continue to thumb their nose at the entire legislative branch of government. And that’s what we’re discussing here.

  21. A Patriot Acting says:

I might think that it is best to allow these crimes to remain un-prosecuted until Obama takes office, if I thought that Obama would follow through and go after the crooks. Maybe if we hold his feet to the fire he will agree to investigate all crimes committed by the Bush Crime Family.

The problem with prosecuting these crimes now is that Bush will then be able to pardon everyone. I don’t think he can pardon people from crimes they have not been convicted of.

  31. larkohio says:

Karl is evil. He is also smart. Can’t stand him.

  32. misshusseinmolly says:

    From American Heritage Dictionary:
    con·tempt (k?n-t?mpt’) n.
    1. The feeling or attitude of regarding someone or something as inferior, base, or worthless; scorn.
    2. The state of being despised or dishonored; disgrace.
    3. Open disrespect or willful disobedience of the authority of a court of law or legislative body.

If anybody or anything qualifies as “contempt”, it’s the general disdain Rove has for Congress — actually the general disdain the entire Bush administration has for Congress.

So what’s it gonna take for Congress to call it what it is? What are they waiting for? It’s gotten to the point where a regular contempt citation would just prolong what truly needs to be done. Cite inherent contempt, round up these scofflaws, and haul them into Congress in handcuffs. Now.

  49. Leftside Annie says:

Stockholm syndrome is a psychological response sometimes seen in an abducted hostage, in which the hostage shows signs of loyalty to the hostage-taker, regardless of the danger (or at least risk) in which the hostage has been placed.

The syndrome is named after the Norrmalmstorg robbery of Kreditbanken at Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm, Sweden, in which the bank robbers held bank employees hostage from August 23 to August 28 in 1973. In this case, the victims became emotionally attached to their victimizers, and even defended their captors after they were freed from their six-day ordeal.

Don’t be too sure of that — I believe that’s exactly what Gerald Ford did with Richard Nixon.

But your point is well taken. Going after these criminals would be a lot easier once Bushco is out of power and both houses of Congress have true, functioning majorities of Democrats.

Unfortunately, I suspect President Obama will be all about “unity” and “moving forward” once he gets into the White House, and no one will ever pay for these crimes.
