I saw a leagal scholar the other day on MSNBC can’t remember who it was or what show, (most likely Countdown) saying that the Congress is in real danger of altering the Constitution and permanently ceding power to the Executive branch simply because they have done nothing to check the outlandish abuses of power that this administration has claimed for itself.

They are running out of time and if they don’t do something the next president will be able to claim the same powers forever more as a matter of precedent.

Don’t be too sure of that — I believe that’s exactly what Gerald Ford did with Richard Nixon.

A caller asked Thom Hartmann that very same question today. He also referenced Ford/Nixon. I cannot state to whether T.H. is right or wrong, but he vociferously stated that Bush canpardon someone for anything they may be accused of at a later date.

Did anyone really expect him to come? The Bush Administration has thumbed their nose at the Constitution, Congress, and Federal Law long enough. Hold him in Contempt of Congress, then send a Federal Marshal to arrest and if necessary bring him before Congress in chains and cuffs. Will Congress have the b__s to do something?

It’s all giving me a headache. Bushco is messing over the middle class and the Dems aren’t doing anything about it. Aren’t they supposed to represent the middle class?

I’m so discouraged.

I really think Cheney went to them and said, “Remember Paul Wellstone? Remember the anthrax we sent Tom Daschle, Patrick Leahy and other newscasters that could screw us over. Remember 9/11? We will do it to you if you piss us off. We will drop a nuke on your home state if you screw us over. Now go back to Congress and STFU or you’ll pay”.

And that’s why they are doing nothing…..
