Reading your question as it is written, there is NO strategic purpose for Iran to attack the US. Iran saw what happened to Iraq and what happened with North Korea. Most of Iran’s neighbors have nukes… it only makes sense for Iran to want to at least appear strong. Weak nations get invaded by the US.

That’s easy. Because one of the missiles didn’t fire. Pretty embarrassing to show off photos of a missile test when only three out of four fired.

Apparently, this ham-handed effort by Iran, was to make it seem that their missiles are 100% effective instead of 75%.

Still…who wants to court 3/4ths of a disaster.
