Defense lawyer drops his pants to demonstrate his clients’ mistreatment at Guantánamo Bay.

David H. Remes, an American lawyer representing 15 Yemenis currently challenging their detention at Guantánamo Bay, recently made his seventh trip to Yemen to meet with his clients’ families and “to do what I can to promote the cause of these men.” During a recent press conference in Yemen, Remes promoted their cause by “demonstrating the mistreatment” and humiliation suffered by his clients at the U.S. detention facility in Cuba:

Way to take the focus off your clients, and put it on yourself, dingleberry.

  2. Badmoodman says:

The counselor was merely presenting his briefs to the court.

  3. Leftside Annie says:

Nah, Dr. Matt – he’s too old.

  4. deebaser says:

    Zooey,

I disagree. Outrageous stunts like this are probably the only way to get the media to pay ANY attention to his clients. Without this dumb stunt, there is no way his client’s cause would have even made the news cycle.

  5. Paul W says:

OK, I really didn’t need to see that.

    TP,
Are you sure the last name isn’t spelled “Reems”? ;>)

    Hollster that weapon, counselor!

I hope you’re right, deebaser. Things don’t always go the way these attorneys plan.

Agree with all the above… lol… especially

    Dr. Hussein Matt Says:

He’s going to be receiving calls from about a dozen different GOP senators tonight.

And Paul W- my thoughts exactly.

  9. Crusty Old Bastard says:

He wants to see evidence of mistreatment? I’ll show him my scars from last month’s crise of the Meds in the Medicare Motel. The guys in Gitmo get better treatment than I did at a local hospital. I guess they were protesting the rate reduction that didn’t pass. The only “high” point of the trip, pun intended, was the overdose of morphine. I had more hallilucinations in two days than a VW van load of 60’s Hippies on their way to Woodstock!

Er, I don’t think his mission was accomplished. Look closely at the blow up picture in the link. Closer…closer…there, right in the bulge—a pee dribble stain.

  21. dumbstruck says:

Does spankin’ the monkey count as torture at Gitmo?

  22. DieNowForPeace says:

Good god man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What man over the age of 30 still wears tightie-whities?????

  23. backup says:

I thought I was just drunk, but now I know, that in college, I often promoted human rights by dropping trou.

  24. Hussein McCain says:

I seriously rather you be waterboarded, too. jk

  25. backup says:

Mr. Remes should consider our mistreatment when we endure his ‘package check’.

If detainees suffered humiliation at Gitmo, I doubt it looked anything like this.

The Yemenis probably have a valid complaint at Gitmo, but Remes makes it look like a frat party I’d hate to miss.

  26. acv says:

I’m stunned – He looks like a boxers kind of guy.

  27. WaltTheMan says:

At least he did not need a cod piece!

  28. nycbassist says:

Okay… If I’m in Guantanamo, and this guy is my lawyer, I’m thinking that I’ll never see my family again.
