Fox News host: 15 year-old detainee ‘maybe deserved’ harsh treatment.

Today, lawyers for Canadian national Omar Khadr, a Guantanamo detainee, released an interrogation video from 2003, showing Khadr weeping and begging for better medical treatment. Discussing the video today on Fox News, host Trace Gallagher declared Khadr had killed an American solider — Khadr is accused of throwing a grenade — and so “maybe he deserves” to be tortured. Watch it:

According to reports, Khadr — who was just 15 years old when captured — was tortured while held by the U.S. in Bagram, Afghanistan, where “he was repeatedly brought into interrogation rooms on stretchers, in great pain” and “pain medication was withheld, apparently to induce cooperation.”

I shudder to think, no less say (it would get censored) what these right wing fascist pigs deserve.

I’m thinking an old Clint Eastwood movie, Hang ‘Em High maybe…

  2. Badmoodman says:

Torture a 15-year old kid and they’ll say ANYTHING you wanna hear to make you stop. Yeah, that’s some solid investigative techniques there, Col. Jessup.

  3. bogtrotters says:

Yeah, and those wedding parties we’ve been taking out in Afghanistan were just beggin’ for it, too!

  4. robbez_92107 says:

Yet – call General Betrayus a shill for the Administration and these same talking heads get their panties in a bunch.

  5. hanshiro says:

Yeah, sure…the evidence was provided by the US government, right? The same US government that instigated illegal detention without proof, put Feith in charge of Geneva oversight and uses “secret” evidence and denies Habeas Corpus to accused detainees. Even leaves innocent detainees sitting in Gitmo

But hey, I’m sure the bush administration isn’t lying…why would they?

  6. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Is intentionally withholding medication to an injured prisoner in order to induce cooperation a war crime?

  7. Shayne says:

Make you proud to be an American doesn’t it.

  8. MapleStreet says:

OK. I’m totally in agreement with the WH on this one.

And likewise, if one of our soldiers throws a grenade and is later picked up wounded, the enemy is perfectly justified in denying care (remember how McCain said he got good medical care in N Vietnam ?) and torturing them.

And I’m sure that we will tell the enemy that they are justified in this.

  9. Keith says:

    hanshiro,
Right. It’s not only guilty until proven innocent—-but after we know they are innocent, they are still kept at Gitmo. Because we don’t want the world to know how we torture innocent people?

  10. dasm says:

    MapleStreet Says:

OK. I’m totally in agreement with the WH on this one.

Agreement in torturing teenagers when no charges have been laid & nothing has been proved? And if it were you in that 15-yr-old’s place, I’m sure you’d still be in agreement… This line of thought is what we hear from right-wingnuts all the time: innocent until proven guilty for their own kind, but guilty immediately with no trial for the rest.

  11. Keith says:

I believe Maple was being sarcastic.

  12. Wayne A. Schneider says:

I hope Maple was being sarcastic. And, if so, he has a point. All these advocates of “interrogation techniques” that amount to torture by, oh, I don’t know, everybody else’s definition, keep forgetting that they will be used on our captured (or kidnapped) servicemen. And we can’t call it a “war crime” then.

  13. Keith says:

On CNN, some unnamed person in front of a Heritage Foundation sign said “look they offered him a hamburger—they didn’t torture him at all!”.

  14. Jeff G says:

Fox News needs to go off the air for their inhumane, tasteless, and immoral “reporting”.

  15. Above the Clouds says:

Just how far have we fallen? To think Clinton’s big impeachable “outrage” was lying about consensual sex–and George Bush’s White House is torturing kids?

  16. Snowball says:

This is just evidence that Fox News has about as good of judgment as a pubescent 15 year old. Too bad a cable station can’t drink itself to death with a beer bong. If they could, I’d supply the keg.

  17. THale2 says:

so I guess if our guys are tortured will they say they deserve it…this is the whole point of the Geneva Conventions

  18. dan_allnews says:

Wow. You know, if you have such an aversion to the rules of war, maybe you should try to avoid war altogether. And if you’re planning a massive invasion of a foreign country, and expecting no one to try to defend their homes, property, and kin, maybe it would be wiser to just make some other plans.

  19. Evergreen2U says:

Why stop at teenagers? In the spirit of a modest proposal: let’s torture the babies and children…that’ll make someone talk. Hell I’ld confess anything to make you stop torturing my children…even if I hadn’t done a thing. Which makes torture next to useless in addition to being totally inhumane.

Bush,Cheney & Co all belong in the same cell with Michael Vick. I hope someday they will be held accountable in a court of law for their treasonous and inhumane actions.

  20. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Why does the right wing continue to defend torture? Just because they want to quibble over whether or not a particular technique is torture is irrelevant. The only people in the world saying that our “enhanced interrogation techniques” are not torture are the people who want to use them. Everyone else agrees their use violates international law. So why are they still trying to defend using them?

John McCain proved that torture doesn’t work. He gave his torturers false information and they stopped torturing him, which is all he wanted at the time.

Torture does not work. (Unless your only goal is to satisfy someone’s blood lust to cause another human being physical and mental pain.)

  21. RandomChaos says:

    Just one question
    Where are the Trolls?

  22. Mangala says:

  23. Keith says:

On CNN, some unnamed person in front of a Heritage Foundation sign said “look they offered him a hamburger—they didn’t torture him at all!”.

Much later, CNN ran the clip again and identified him as Charles Stimson, former Ass. Defense Sec.

  24. neopro says:

why doesn’t trace gallagher get his ass kicked by random people when he walks down the street? the same question can be asked for all faux news anchores. with all the inhumane and evil crap that these pundits spew, how is it that these ghouls aren’t assaulted on sight?

  25. Marie says:

    Another proud day for Americans.

  26. barfly says:

Sorry to go OT, but this is important (from Raw Story):

Hundreds of super-rich American tax cheats have, in effect, turned themselves in to the IRS after a bank computer technician in the tiny European country of Liechtenstein came forward with the names of US citizens who had set up secret accounts there, according to Washington lawyers investigating the scheme.

Heinrich Kieber, a bank computer technician in Liechtenstein came forward with the names of US…

He has been branded a thief by the government of Liechtenstein for violating the country’s bank secrecy laws.
    (hand out)
The bank clerk, Heinrich Kieber, has been branded a thief by the government of Liechtenstein for violating the country’s bank secrecy laws.

He is now in hiding but scheduled to testify to the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations Thursday via a video statement from a secret location, according to Congressional investigators.

  27. IBTunion4obama says:

He was denied medical care? Unbelievable, this sounds like the American health care system.

Next time Cheney needs a new battery for his pacemaker, ooops no medical care. (Chuckle)

  28. Marie says:

Barfly, I just read that, too.
Amazing. The guy is in trouble, but he is probably going to take down a few tax cheats.

  29. barfly says:

The guy is in trouble, but he is probably going to take down a few tax cheats.

    A few hundred

How will the candidates frame this issue?

  30. barfly says:

McCain, no doubt, will talk about the tax code being to blame. But what will Obama’s take on it be?

  31. neopro says:

fox news is more disgusting than “2 girls, 1 cup”

  32. blue state bob says:

When will this f___ing nightmare ever end??

  33. curmudgeon says:

How long do you suppose Gallagher would last if someone accused him of being a terrorist (for a hefty finder’s fee, of course)and then his captors, assuming that he was guilty, waterboarded him until he confessed.

Suppose he would accept the consequences without complaint?

  34. xtro says:

If this guy was ripped apart by starving dovermans it would be too nice a thing for him.

  35. Vincennes says:

Who the hell is Trace Gallagher and why is he on TV?

  36. Max-1 says:

    .

What Trace Gallagher is suggesting by his line of supposed reasoned questioning is to suggest, that on some basic core fundamental level, beating a child is an acceptable idea to entertain and possibly… believe in.

    The real question should be:
    WHAT PRINCIPLE ALLOWS AN ADULT
TO TREAT A CHILD LIKE AN ANIMAL?

    .

  37. Chocolate Jesus says:

boy, the nerve of those people, daring to fight our soldiers back…dont they realize the only decent thing to do is run around with targets on their back and wave unloaded weapons around screaming “death to america”?

    zeesh…some people

  38. pbg says:

    A line is crossed here.
Trace Gallagher is espousing torture, not as a regrettable but effective tool–he’s talking about torture as a punishment..

That’s not even barbarity–that’s America as a bunch of savages. This is torture as revenge.

    “Deserved’?

What this proves is that, if you put people in a teevee studio and allow them to say anything they want with no accountability, sooner or later they turn into monsters.

  39. CarlChilders says:

Ha ha… little muslim terrorist wannabe got what he deserved. No sympathy here.

  40. yanarix says:

Anyone who thinks that we will fail without torturing people is a coward.

  41. MapleStreet says:

10,11,12 – As Wayne said, I was being sarcastic and making the point that if it is OK for us, then we would have no grounds for objection when the “enemy” (whoever that may be) did the same to us, or for that matter our high-schoolers.

One place I’m really disappointed is that McCain who has been said to have been tortured, took part in interviews where he lauded his medical care and even made propoganda videos in N Vietnam (albeit probably under threat of more torture). I can’t see why he wouldn’t remain steadfast on prohibitions against torture and condemn especially torture of a teenager. And be vocal of the low level of information that is obtained.

  42. Leftside Annie says:

I am so very deeply ashamed of America. God help us all.

Founding Fathers, I’m so very, very sorry that you all gave your lives for this sorryass POS excuse for a nation…

  43. jimijazz says:

It just proves once again that the people at Guantanamo are being used as examples by the govt. and the far-right. A practice and control tactic that dates back to the Mayan civilizations.

  44. nomad says:

this little piece of crap killed american soldiers, he can rot in hell like Allah and the rest of them

  45. Leftside Annie says:

Hey, Nomad – is it ok with you if they torture our soldiers?

Because that’s the ugly can of worms you Pukes have opened here with your torture.

    Friggin’ MORON.

  46. otherzaphod says:

“this little piece of crap killed american soldiers, he can rot in hell like Allah and the rest of them”

#1: NO Nomad, this little piece of crap is ACCUSED of klling american soldiers (i thought it was 1, but regardless) and YOU DID NOT SEE HIM DO IT! Nor did his torturers. He deserves a fair trial… or at LEAST a charge. Gallagher does not care if the kid did or not.

#2: lmao ‘Allah’ means god, maybe u meant Mohammed… I am assuming u r a right wing nut, and prob a religious nut/possible bigot too… So plz realize u just said the kid will rot in hell with… God. An oxymoron at best. But i know what u meant. So…

#3: 15 yr old kids don’t throw grenades at soldiers for fun, or to be evil. There is a lot going on here, and is it possible that the kid was MADE to do it, making him the victim as well? Also, does this 15yrold have vital info that will ’save american lives’? prob not, right?

#4: If u think its ok to torture or abuse minors even when they ARE guilty, u are a sick dude. Our soldiers have done some sick shit to people over the years. I know this because, besides talking to peeps with 1st hand knowledge (having done it), they are HUMAN BEINGS, same as the iraqis, osama, etc. and are capable of both great good AND great evil.

MAYBE, just MAYBE we should take the high moral ground, do what Jesus would do, however u wanna put it, and not torture people at all. I’d rather die in a fiery blast with love of/pride in my country than be saved by some1 who tortures children. Let’s not forget why these people throw grenades at us…. Torturing children won’t solve THAT one….
