During a segment this weekend, Fox News’ Brett Baier said that “the high price of gas may be costing your kids some of their education. We’ll explain here.” At the same time, though, the word education was misspelled on-screen as “eductaion.” Watch it:
Spelling now joins geography on the list of subjects in which Fox News needs a lesson. (HT: News Hounds)

Send them to school.

July 21st, 2008 at 1:44 pmHomeschooling at its finest.
July 21st, 2008 at 1:45 pmI'm the last person to be mocking someone else's typos...but good god! This is what happens when you give monkeys typewriters.
July 21st, 2008 at 1:47 pmThis just in...
Angry at what they call "liberal bias in dictionaries", conservatives have started a new website called Conservtionary to counter the distortions in the "liberal spelling websites".
July 21st, 2008 at 1:47 pmFoxSnooze -- fare, balensed and unafrayed.
July 21st, 2008 at 1:48 pmAt the same time, though, the word education was misspelled on-screen as “eductaion.”
Priceless!
Of course that's the legacy of cutting education to the bone. Too bad these clowns will never make the connection.

At least I use spell check...

July 21st, 2008 at 1:49 pmIf an (R) did it, label the (R) a (D), terrorist fist jab, he's a muslim, he's a commie, he's a socialist, does he hate America, he doesn't support the troops, war on christmas, liberals hate the troops, surrender, Freedom fries, O'LIElly, Spawn Insanity, Mann Colter....You have got to be a total fool to believe anything on Faux Noise....Far from Balanced.
July 21st, 2008 at 1:50 pmIt will only be a matter of time before Faux resorts to:
Former President George W. Bush (D)
July 21st, 2008 at 1:52 pmOh, Rupert, aren't you as disappointed as the rest of us?
July 21st, 2008 at 1:52 pmI find this more than a little ironic, because ThinkProgress has had more than their share of typos, especially late last week.
July 21st, 2008 at 1:53 pmAnd today when welcoming our Olympians to the White House President Bush changed them from athletes to "athaletes". My child even pointed out that that's not how you say that word.
July 21st, 2008 at 1:54 pmgummitch:
True enough.
However:
1# TP didn't mispell the word "EDUCATION" (which is High Larry Us all by itself)
#2 TP didn't mispell the word "EDUCATION" while talking about Education.
It's funny, not news. Oh well.
July 21st, 2008 at 1:55 pmFox News’ Brett Baier said that “the high price of gas may be costing your kids some of their eductaion. But, don't worry, if they are uneductated, they can get a job here at Fox News."
July 21st, 2008 at 1:55 pmIt's apparent that anyone with a brain wouldn't work for Fox News.
July 21st, 2008 at 1:56 pmAnd in an irony overload, I just MISSPELLED the word MISSPELL twice while talking about MISSPELLINGS.
Ugh, I need more coffee.
July 21st, 2008 at 1:56 pmFew people know that McCain is Fox News' proof reader...
July 21st, 2008 at 1:57 pmZimzone,
Other way around. Fox News' proofreader is on McCain's speechwriting team.
No wonder he has so much trouble with public speaking, he can't read the speech put in front of him for all the typos.
July 21st, 2008 at 1:58 pmWill high gas prices cost your kids their eductaion?
Looks like it's already too late for kids at FauxNews.
July 21st, 2008 at 1:59 pmA neocon from Bu$h's admin once said:
"We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."
Well, I guess since Fox News is the GOP's propoganda wing, they are now making their own geographic and spelling reality. And while we're studying that new Fox reality, they'll make more reality, which we will also study...
See folks, it's really that simple.
July 21st, 2008 at 1:59 pmCorrect spelling, like truth, has a notoriously liberal bias.
July 21st, 2008 at 2:03 pmIn all afirness, that looks like a transposition typo.
Nonetheless, it's pretty darn sloppy for a multimillion dollar company.
Cheers,
July 21st, 2008 at 2:04 pmAs amusing as this is, I truly don't think it's that the people over at Fox News don't know how to spell "education" -- I think it's more that they rush to get their stuff on the air that they don't take the time to proofread for simple typing errors.
Which doesn't surprise me -- since they don't employ fact-checkers, why should they bother with proofreading? Their audience will always lap up whatever's being served without challenge.
July 21st, 2008 at 2:04 pmSadly, not a single loyal reich-wing Faux viewer realized there was a mistake.
July 21st, 2008 at 2:05 pmI gess Focks noos is huked on fonix....
July 21st, 2008 at 2:06 pmShayne, I guess it's a good thing the athaletes aren't nukular!

July 21st, 2008 at 2:18 pmI wonder if Focks Noos will ever host another speleeng bea?
July 21st, 2008 at 2:18 pmJust more evidence that FAUX is neither educational nor informative (as if more evidence was truly needed)........
July 21st, 2008 at 2:18 pmThen why did you comment?
July 21st, 2008 at 2:21 pmOf course it's a typo. That's not the point. The point is that Fox is such an unprofessional organization they actually broadcast stories they don't bother to fact, or even spell check.
July 21st, 2008 at 2:24 pmFox News’ Brett Baier said that “the high price of gas may be costing your kids some of their education. We’ll explain here.”
- - Hey, that's the fifth-edited version. The original Chyron read:
July 21st, 2008 at 2:28 pm“the hi prys of gas May bee accosting you're Keds sum of they're edumacation. Wheel eggsplain hear."
shrub should have invested in "no news networks left behind..."
July 21st, 2008 at 2:29 pmFox News = University of Gumby
July 21st, 2008 at 2:40 pmFox Most Read (as of now):
Stab-Rape
Katie Holmes new haircut
Danica Patrick altercation with other race driver
Grandma defends daughter, asks help to find missing toddler
B-52 crashes off Guam
French tourist beats Daughter
Freshwater Stingray
Iranian adulterers to be stoned to death
Jessica Simpson booed
Baby stealing with woman charged with homicide
Double slaying 911 tape
Conjoined birds
Grooms mother stabbed
Girl disappears
20K earring found in trash
Paulson Braces Public For tough Times
So…..7 stories about violence (fighting, stabbing, raping, beating, murder, stoning), 2 abductions, 2 unusual animals, 3 female celebrities, 1 plane crash, 1 “I’ll be darned” kind of story and 1 story on the Chairman of the Federal Reserve saying that the US financial situation is going to get worse.
As far as I can tell that’s pretty much the typical distribution of interest on any FOX News ‘Most Read’ list on any day.
July 21st, 2008 at 2:49 pmNOLIESPLEASE Says:
It’s apparent that anyone with a brain wouldn’t work for Fox News.
And it's apparent that anyone with a brain wouldn't WATCH Faux either.
July 21st, 2008 at 2:50 pmFox isn't really pretending to be a news channel, they meant to call themself Fox Nose but spelled it incorrectly.
July 21st, 2008 at 2:52 pmI know this is meant to be funny, but it kind of marginalizes the more important news TP provides... at least to me.
Maybe if there was a "That's Funny" banner to be used on stuff like this instead of "Think Fast". lol
July 21st, 2008 at 2:53 pmFaux snooze sez: "wee donnut nead no stinkin' edukayshun"
snark
July 21st, 2008 at 2:55 pmmargerine: Maybe if there was a “That’s Funny” banner to be used on stuff like this instead of “Think Fast”. lol...
I agree. Maybe "Don't Think Too Hard" or "I Don't Think So" or "ThinkSlow" --just to maintain the labeling scheme.
July 21st, 2008 at 3:07 pmHi Jim...
July 21st, 2008 at 3:25 pmAll I can say is: Bwahahahahahaha!!!!!!
July 21st, 2008 at 3:28 pmISN'T THERE AN "M" IN EDUMACATION?
July 21st, 2008 at 3:38 pmLOL Republicans are SUCH an easy target
July 21st, 2008 at 4:03 pmNo surprises there. Education is not a requirement to work for Fox.
July 21st, 2008 at 5:44 pmJust goes to show you...What they speak isn't perfect... and this is a fine example...in writing.
July 21st, 2008 at 7:16 pm#47, rastaman, Dude, you got it bro, just a simple typo! %)
July 21st, 2008 at 7:45 pmI wonder if we should also be putting food on our families...
July 21st, 2008 at 8:21 pmJohn Kerry is gonna run away now. Unlike the real John Kerry, this dude is a huge pussy.
July 22nd, 2008 at 1:00 amThe republican fake news network is shameful. It almost seems as if they do this kind of thing on purpose, since so many listeners are abadoning them and MSNBC is gaining so much marketshare, they need someone to pay attention to them.
July 22nd, 2008 at 8:55 amWhere do you go for news?
July 22nd, 2008 at 9:00 am1. perezhilton.com
2. The Onion
3. nowhere
4. FoxNews
That's priceless.
July 22nd, 2008 at 9:08 amThose darn conservatives are right so much, it's about time we found one of their screw ups!
