Nas to deliver 600,000 signature petition protesting Fox News’s attacks on African-Americans.
At 2 PM tomorrow, rap star Nas will deliver a petition — organized by Color of Change and Move On.org and signed by 600,000 people — to Fox News’s Manhattan headquarters, calling on the network to “stop its racist smears against the Obamas and other Black Americans.” Nas also takes the network to task in a new song, “Sly Fox,” which includes the lyrics, “I pledge allegiance to the fair and balanced truth/Not the biased truth/Not the liar’s truth/But the highest truth.” Last year, Brave New Films released a video exposing Fox’s attacks on black America. American democracy counts on an honest media to function properly. Foreigners should not be having undue influence in the information Americans need to make informed choices in participating in their democracy.
Either Rupert Murdoch should be removed from having a controlling interest in his media holdings in the US or preferably, the media holdings should be broken up and forced to divest.

As far as I know, US law bars foreigners from owning TV stations.

July 22nd, 2008 at 10:02 pmFor heavens sake!! This is Fox network. This is Rupert Murdoch. Since when have any of these right wing nut jobs done anything but promote hate? And why would you expect anything else? You can circulate a million petitions and they mean nothing to this organization.
They will give some non answer answer, and dump the complaints in the circular file. THEY DON’T CARE. They don’t work to inform, or to discuss any topic rationally. They promote hate. And they speak to a narrow, uneducated population that require someone to spew out their own hate for them. This is their base.
Murdoch was so hated in Australia, they actually printed newspaper articles thanking us for taking him. He is able to own so much, because Clinton signed a law that allowed conglomerates to own as much as they want. De-regulation that Reagan started. When Clinton signed the telecommunications act he opened the door. Now all of our news, entertainment, everything is in the hands of five or six sources. And those same sources want to own the internet. They are presently working on controlling that. So if you want to prevent it, stay in touch with Congress and prevent it. Because if they don’t hear from you, they will roll over.
The internet is one valuable source for news from everywhere. This is what these media outlets hate. Something they have not been able to control. There have been inroads. For instance Yahoo took it’s free speech forum off the net last year. And Rawstory is dancing arond the same thing. If congress allows sources to buy the internet, there will be no way to stop the media from disallowing the free exchange of news and information, and blogs for all of us.
The window for free speech is becoming more narrow all the time and the end of free internet, is the last of real, genuine free speech. Newspapers are out of touch. They are losing readership yearly. They don’t understand as yet it is because they have given up their objective reporting. No one wants to read newspapers so blatantly biased and too lazy to do their job. That is why they lose readers.

They resemble more like children that have not grown up! Then one radio personality goes on to discusses his personal life, who he knows and his SUV’s…CHOKE… After listening to his hateful, cruel dialogue against a man of a different color running for president…only shows me how sorry of a life this radio show host has. Basically he showed me that, look, I have all of this and I know these people and I am a loser, period. If this radio show wanted to format a serious, professional platform for their listeners…they would focus on getting off the hate train and listen to Obama’s message of bringing good to the country. There is so much fear within this network that they can’t even focus, nor figure out what Obama is defining. If something isn’t working out within this country for good, then wanting to fix it is only correct. Why would one want to not correct a problem????????? Hum, this network is publicly displaying pure suppression and racism, and IT STINKS. I’m for equality, fairness, not manipulating a good agenda.
