This week, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will meet her North Korean counterpart for the U.S.’s “first substantive high-level meeting” with the country since 2000. The New York Times writes that “the North Korea meeting may well amount to last rites for the ‘axis of evil,’ the one that President Bush said in 2002 was ‘arming to threaten the peace of the world.’” The White House, however, fully embraced the term just 24 hours earlier:
However, pressed by a reporter whether Bush still believed that they were part of the “axis of evil,” Perino said North Korea and Iran were still part of it.
“I think that until they give up their nuclear weapons programs completely and verifiably, I think that we would keep them in the same category,” she said.
Under the Bush Regime:
Peace = War

NYT says ‘axis of evil’ term is dying…
– - The NYT was actually referring to McCain, Graham and Lieberman.
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:25 amHow many times in the past month or so, has the WH and Dubya not been on the same page. Guess that goes for McDepends and his advisors as well.

You have obviously been boycotting the NYT and any other media outlet that doesn’t have Fox in its name for your whole life, daryll. And it has not served you very well. You are still as big a dummy as you were after the fourth year that you got held back in kindergarten.
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:31 amI don’t care how much you protest, Daryll, they are not putting coloring pages in the New York Times for you.

Daryll, I’d like to buy a bag ‘o whatever you’re smoking; it’s apparently so chronic that it really distorts your perception of realty. Yer parents were siblings, weren’t they?

July 22nd, 2008 at 11:40 amI’ve never seen this type of journalistic bias from the WT.

July 22nd, 2008 at 11:42 am“I think that until they give up their nuclear weapons programs completely and verifiably, I think that we would keep them in the same category,” she said.
Can anyone really blame them for making sure they can defend themselves? By vilifying them the administration perpetuates the myth that they should be feared and mistrusted.

July 22nd, 2008 at 11:38 am
_____
Really.
The Washington Times has long been considered one of the most biased conservative newspapers in the country. So much so that when current Executive Editor John Solomon took the job in January, reporters were unsure whether he was “one of them” or whether he’d pass the paper’s “ideological litmus test.” Although under Solomon’s leadership the paper has made some changes to its style guide that have softened some of the bias, it’s still pretty darn conservative:

July 22nd, 2008 at 11:50 amDaryll,
So this is your ‘fair and balanced’ paper?
And you say that the NYT is liberal? What about Kristol-meth and Rove and a few more of your he-roes that are regular contributors? Are they too ‘liberal’ for you?
You do have a wit, strange but still can be witty.
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:50 amSeems like the UK is distancing itself from the “axis of torture.”
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:51 amIt’s not even a gay thread and yet Daryll has managed to derail it with his whining about the Times. Parody or paid troll, he is very effective at his “job.”
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:51 amThe bush administration was spawned by diebold and populated by the unqualified cronies of a half-wit war criminal.
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:51 amWho they label what, holds no water what-so-ever.
The entire planet has heard coda-sleeza say that they didn’t want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud.
At that moment she lost all hope of maintaining any credibility or of gaining any respect.
Daryll, I would guess that you have never found any case of anyone “demonizing left wingnuts” — simply because, in your twisted biased view, “left wingnuts” deserve to be demonized. Therefore, to you, it’s simply honest reporting.
By the way, YOU GUYS are “wingnuts”. We’re MOONBATS. Get your terminology straight.
Jeez.
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:54 amDaryll, did you know that David Brock used to work for the Washington Times and they all knew he was gay, but they looked the other way, as long as he stayed in the closet? Also, Brock said there were other closeted gay right-wing Republicans working for the Washington Times when he was there.

This isn’t a Gay thread Daryll, go to your closet and flog yourself for awhile, that will appease your Magical Invisible Faerie in the Sky.
July 22nd, 2008 at 12:09 pmI wonder if you were to poll the rest of the world, would we find the US on their list of “Axis of Evil”, per the definitions we have used?
Just wondering …….

July 22nd, 2008 at 12:13 pmDaryll, did you know that Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the owner of the Washington Times, denies that Jesus was the son of God, and that he, himself is the Messiah?

Truth = Lies
Drones of Death, mobile biological weapons labs, Yellowcake uranium… And how many US soldiers died for his lies about Monica?
July 22nd, 2008 at 12:25 pmDandruff needs to be selsun blued by TP admin.
July 22nd, 2008 at 12:28 pm“Let Saddam rebuild his regime” to the point that our troops rolled into Baghdad ahead of schedule, huh?
“Inflate economy under tech bubble”, huh? That “inflated economy went from a Dow at 3500 to 12,000, and the bursting of the tech bubble drew it all the way down to 10,5000. That “inflated economy” covered all of the expenses of teh federal government and then some, to the point that we could begin paying down the National Debt.
“”Truth=Lies”? Kind of like “any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires — a wiretap requires a court order. Nothing has changed, by the way. When we’re talking about chasing down terrorists, we’re talking about getting a court order before we do so.”?
Or “if there is a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is. And if the person has violated law, the person will be taken care of.”
Well, maybe that last one isn’t a lie. Bush certainly took care of Scooter Libby, didn’t he?
July 22nd, 2008 at 12:30 pmOnce the facts are out of the bag, the trolls tend to slip back under the bridge. Makes ignoring them seem overrated: Drown them in facts instead of leaving them to swim alone (w/o a pass) in our sky blue swimming pool.
July 22nd, 2008 at 12:36 pmThree trolls stinking up the thread. What happened TP did you lay off all the moderators?
