Beck Links Abbas To ‘Radical Islam,’ Falsely Claims Palestinians Are ‘Being Run Now By Hezbollah’»

This morning on CNN, anchor Kiren Chetry discussed Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-IL) current trip to the Middle East with fellow CNN host Glenn Beck. Asked for his thoughts on the trip, Beck said there is never going to be “peace in the Middle East until you wipe out radical Islam.”

When asked if Obama’s meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas “was a bad idea,” Beck said that “it is” because — seeming to lump Abbas in with “radical Islam” — “you cannot bring people together with an extremist ideology”:

CHETRY: So you think that it was a bad move for [Obama] to meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas?

BECK: I think it is. […] But if you’re sitting down and you’re talking to people, as he has said that he wants to do, and try to bring everybody together, you cannot bring people together that have extremist ideology. […] You do not get into bed with people that want to destroy you and run you into the sea.

Watch it:

So it seems that Beck is taking his fear of “talking to our enemies” to a whole new level. Even President Bush and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) — both of whom have linked direct diplomacy with “appeasement” — haven’t gone that far. In fact, Bush and McCain have not only met with Abbas but they have also lavished him with praise for his efforts in the Israeli-Palestine peace process.

Bush has said Abbas is “a man of courage,” “a man of peace,” and a leader who is “willing to speak out and act on behalf of people who yearn for peace” while McCain has said Abbas is someone capable of settling “differences in a peaceful and amicable fashion.”

Further demonstrating his ignorance of the region, Beck later added that the Palestinians are “being run now by Hezbollah.” Actually it’s Hamas, not Hezbollah.

Apparently, as long as you’re Muslim, Beck considers you an “enemy.” In other words, Beck wouldn’t want the U.S. to talk to nearly 20 percent of the world’s population.

First: Beck said there is never going to be “peace in the Middle East until you wipe out radical Islam.”

Then: “You do not get into bed with people that want to destroy you and run you into the sea.”

    Dingleberry.

  3. Hussein McCain Says:

I can see why CNN turned to this resident expert on the Middle East. They gone batsh*t Fox crazee!

  4. Peter C Says:

Beck does not need to make a rational argument; all he needs to do is appeal to fear.

They have noting to offer but fear. They have no case to make. They are utterly worthless.

    He is a despicable human.

  5. daflash Says:

What would one expect from Glen Beck, or Hannity too. Their both college dropouts who are given simply way to much credit. All’s they are, are entertainers with about the same amount of knowledge as myself on government, the economy or foreign affairs.

  6. jb Says:

There will be no peace on earth until people like Beck are wiped out. How does an idiot get a job like his? I know some 5th graders with more sense.

  7. Zooey Says:

    Jeebus….

    What liberal media?

If the media were liberal, it would be smart. Or at least competent.

  8. Shayne Says:

I don’t know why other leader in the world would meet with the biggest terrorist of all, George Bush. How many innocent dead Iraqis are there now?

  9. jb Says:

You can not negotiate with extremists like Beck. Nobody should talk to him.

  10. SWBob Says:

It’s pretty clear that the repubs will be amping up the “fear card” for November. It’s all McLame has going for him. . . so we’ll hear lots about how everyone in the middle east is planning to invade your house and kill you unless the repubs maintain control and kill them “over there first.”

  11. jb Says:

Wouldn’t it be a bit of justice to see Beck’s house bulldozed?

    Glenn Beck.

    ‘Nuff said.

American citizenry needs to emulate Thomas Paine. Now.

  13. dbadass Says:

Isn’t there some sort of way that the talented musician Beck can get some sort of restraining order based on the damage to his good name?

You got that right. Let’s see…fear of Muslims, fear of blacks, fear of immigrants, fear of taxes, fear of government regulation, fear of PBS, fear of science, fear of accountability, fear of fear…what all am I leaving out?

  15. kasinca Says:

Why the hell is CNN giving this bigoted moron time on the tv? Good God Almighty!

  16. gummitch Says:

The Right is panicking and they’re willing to say anything at all to try and derail Obama’s campaign. It doesn’t matter to them if it’s ignorant, stupid and illogical because their core audience can’t make that distinction. But Beck? He’s just ignorant, stupid and illogical.

  17. Gregor Samsa Says:

  18. Chris L Says:

What does Beck think of the 4,500 American soldiers that are Muslim?

  19. Game of Life Says:

Apparently, as long as you’re Muslim, Beck considers you an “enemy.” In other words, Beck wouldn’t want the U.S. to talk to nearly 20 percent of the world’s population.

Yeap. And another 40% who believe his style is racist.

  21. tarazan Says:

Beck:”Palestinians are being run now by Hezbollah”.
    ———————————————
If Beck said Palestinians are being run now by UFOs, 40% or more of viewers might believe Beck’s statement.
    He doesn’t know anything himself,either
    No surpirse…
His show is just to create sensationalism, controversy and sell air time.

  22. Gregor Samsa Says:

As usual, Beck is wrong. Abbas belongs to what is considered the moderate wing of the PLO. Before becoming president, Abbas advocated for the recognition of the state of Israel to exist, and called for an open dialog with Olmert’s government.

Once president, Abbas asked Palestinian militias to stop their attacks on Israeli citizens. Even Olmert has met with Abbas at this point.

And Beck is supposed to be in the news business? Wow. I guess there is only so much information his tiny little head can handle beyond the teleprompt.

  23. Wayne A. Schneider Says:

But if you’re sitting down and you’re talking to people, as he has said that he wants to do, and try to bring everybody together, you cannot bring people together that have extremist ideology.

He’s talking about Bush’s “extremist ideology” here, right?

  24. Gregor Samsa Says:

The Palestinians are sitting here being run now by Hezbollah, which is actually Iran.

I was going to give Beck the benefit of the doubt -maybe he meant Hezbollah was running Hamas. But after reading the transcript, it’s clear he doesn’t know Lebanon from Palestine, or Hamas from Hezbollah.

You’d think that, in all these years as a talking head, something would have stuck to him. I wasn’t counting on the thick layer of Teflon that coats Beck’s brain.

  25. gitrdone Says:

Say no to right-wing propaganda, boycott CNN!

  26. had enough Says:

Beck is a coward… Ed Shultz was scheduled to be on and Beck canceled him at the last minute.
These people, along with a complicit fascist media, all walk in lock step together craving for more wars. How much blood do they need?

  27. Zooey Says:

I’d love to see Ed Schultz take down Beck — a light workout indeed.

  28. Game of Life Says:

    Dr. Hussein Matt @22

That was just awful. Stop it!

  29. christopher wiwi Says:

This guy is dangerous as any Reich wing talking head on tv.I can`t believ he is still on CNN, much less filling in for Larry King what a MORON.Ed Shultz would have this guy for a scooby snack………..

  30. scytherius Says:

What a sad, pathetic, dying little empire we have become.

  31. donmyers Says:

Who does this guy know? I can’t stand him - he’s on the wrong network - CNN suffers from his kind taking up time. I totally ignore him but occasionally try Headline News to get some info and there he is…he even was in for Larry King one night. If this continues CNN will be ignored just as Fox is

  32. Evil Spaniard Says:

Yes, is sooo radical to want to force out the invaders of your country…

Beck — nor other commentators on the Right– are not ignorant, stupid or illogical. However, they’re betting their viewers are. They’re saying these things because most viewers won’t know the difference between Hamas or Hezbollah. He’s playing the base’s fear of all things Islamic.

  34. DallasNE Says:

Why would CNN give Glen Beck, of all people, a gig as a replacement for Larry King? Are they really looking for a Bill O’Rielly light in their stable? He exposes his ignorance on a daily basis.

  35. Quizmos Says:

We are witnessing the Foxification of CNN! Beck wouldn’t amount to a pimple on the ass of Big Ed. That is why this blowhard-chickenshit-wannabe whimped out when he had the chance to face off with Big Ed. The guy can’t put two serious thoughts together that he can actually back up with any facts. How disappointing. I thought that CNN was looking for an intellectual link to the right as a way of presenting a thoughtful contrast to the otherwise mundane right of center reporting they offer in the name of news. Instead they give us this rhetorical idiot who’s art is to incite joe sixpack into hating whomever he points at. CNN has done nothing but a nose dive since the retirement of Bernie Ward. Beck is the perfect example of what you get when trolling for bottom fish.

  36. tokin librul Says:

I’d like to think that “fate” will somehow jelly Beck’s knuckles, and he’ll be forced to type forever with a stick tied to his forehead…

    Fuuking BINGO!!!
Their listeners are dumber than dog-shit, and they react like trained chipmunks.

  38. Chocolate Jesus Says:

    >Actually it’s Hamas, not Hezbollah.

Yep, and even if it was Hezbollah, ya know what? Ain’t the results of mideast democracy grand glenny boy? Its amazing this flaghumping inbred c#nt is so derivisive of one of the few arab democracies in existence and yet so insistent we must use our blood and treasure to make sure the iraqis have a safe haven to be as islamic as they wanna be, too.,

  39. jms225 Says:

I quit watching CNN shortly after they hired Beck. What a jerk! When did CNN become FNS South??

  40. SCfan2064 Says:

Glenn Beck is a dumb ass, bigot and Islamophobe. He has asked some dumb ass questions regarding Keith Ellison and Obama. This dude has said that he wouldn’t try unlawful combatants, just shoot them in the head. This dude must’ve fallen off the water wagon. I can’t understand why he’s on CNN. This dude’s show should be on Fox, where it belongs
