Plame and Wilson on Novak’s hit and run: ‘Take away the keys to his Corvette.’

ThinkProgress received a statement from Amb. Joseph Wilson and Valerie Plame Wilson on Robert Novak’s collision today, in which he “was cited by police after he hit a pedestrian with his black Corvette in downtown Washington, D.C., Wednesday morning.” From their statement:

Statement from Joe and Valerie Wilson on Novak’s hit and run:

picture-1.gifOur sympathies go out to the victim of Novak’s action. Once again Novak has demonstrated his callous disregard for the rights of others, as well as his chronic inability to accept responsibility for his actions.

We have long argued that responsible adults should take Novak’s typewriter away. The time has arrived for them to also take away the keys to his Corvette.

Five years ago, Novak outed the identity of Wilson’s wife, undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson.

They take away his keyboard and his microphone.

  2. wijg says:

This story is bizarre. A $50 citation? There were witnesses to him driving away! Why wasn’t he given a breathalyzer?

  3. StratRat says:

    How about his breathing privileges.

  4. Buckie Boy says:

Just the fact that he didn’t stop to check the damage to his paint job speaks volumes, take away his keys. (humor) But really any corvette owner would have done just that.

Undeads don’t breath. But a wooden stake would do the trick.

  6. skippybkroo says:

considering how the mccain campaign used novak earlier this week to float the false rumor about picking a veep, and considering how the victim was an old guy, maybe novak just thought he was plowing into mccain.

  7. Zooey says:

Seriously, take away the callous old bastid’s keys.

Take out a pedestrian — you don’t get to drive anymore.

That should be true of anyone.

  8. Hussein McCain says:

    Robert Novak = Simon Barsinister

  9. Kahoneez says:

How sad such a classy car like a Corvette , has one of the most low life characters in DC driving it and the Vette is so low you can see an ant in front of you, so the idea of him saying he didn’t see anybody, goes on the list of all the lies this clown has told .

  10. OKGA says:

Classic ultra “conservative” attitude: invincibility; release of responsibility….”I can do anything I want. It’s someone else’s problem…”
Why is this entire party of lunatics given a mental illness pass?!
TRIPLE TAXES FOR REPUBLICANS IN 2010!

  11. shaun says:

    # 2 wig – i agree with you – where i come from a breath test is mandatory for any driving offense – but a 50 buck ticket??!!?? – for a hit and run??!!?? – the prick should have been arrested on the spot and handed a summons for a court date – how do these people get away with shit like this?

  12. Keith H. says:

Any self respecting Corvette would flat refuse to start with him behind the wheel.

  13. Shayne says:

And did they check his cell phone to see if he was on the phone when it happened or if he called his attorney while driving away? No of course not because the only police who do that kind of legwork are on television.

  14. Badmoodman says:

Gosh, if only there was a Beach Boys song that McCain could apply here….

  15. enough says:

Let the Prince of Darkness keep the keys. Take the Corvette and have new keys made.

I hope his victims will sue him down to his underwear.

    - – Maybe Novak has the same lawyer as Laura (nee Welch) Bush.

All this negative attention and opporbrium couldn’t be directed at one more deserving, unless it was rove.

  18. Keith says:

In the transcript, Novak tells the reporters first:

ABC 7 News: Was it a male or female pedestrian?

    RN: I don’t know.

And then a little later says:

RN: He’s not dead, that’s the main thing. So, I, ah.. He’s in the hospital.

    That’s contradictory!

Also, how can he not be cited for hit and run? Police just take your word for anything with all evidence to the contrary? Not any police I ever met.

And thirdly, aren’t those cars phallic!

And fourthly, why hasn’t there been a troll mentioning Ted Kennedy and 1969?

  19. Zooey says:

    Hi, Keith.

The citation is hopefully only the first step. I’m sure this high-profile case will be either moved the line and hushed-up, or moved up the line and investigated. They’ll probably want to talk to the victim, to see if he’s seriously hurt and if he’s inclined to press harder. Novak is clearly a bald-faced liar in this case, and every other facet of his life.

    This stuff moves very slowly.

The men used to call those types of cars “PNS cars.” :-D

    You had to mention Kennedy….

  20. Doc Rock says:

Raise the hue and cry! Nasty Novak should be charged with hit and run! There is a credible witness–a partner in a Pennsylvania & DC law firm

  21. CitiDC says:

Corvette: A fast, lightly armed warship, smaller than a destroyer, often armed for antisubmarine operations.

    Synonym – “swift boat”

    Just sayin….

  22. vat694848 says:

78 rpm record, rotary-dial phone, 8-track tape player, beta-tapes, piston engine, Corvette, and Novack, all obsolete.

  23. marlow says:

Maybe the pedestrian was just to “fat and whiny” for Novak’s taste. It was just a “mental” hit-and-run, after all. Hopefully Phil Gramm has a driver. But seriously, Novak in a corvette?? LMAO

  24. Keith says:

Hey Zooster, four hours later. And then there was the Kennedy with the ambien excuse. But seriously folks, if someone was splayed across my windshield inches in front of me—-I think I would notice. I would probably be able to tell you their sex, too. Novak said he had no idea of the gender and then twice referred to him as “he”!

  25. donmyers says:

He’s lost it. WaPo better wake up.

  26. ctcadguy says:

I wonder if I would have received just a $50 fine?
    Doubt it.

  27. flavorino says:

Is this what that great American, Drugs Limpballs is refering to with his constant use of the term “drive by media”?
