The pedestrian Novak hit donated money to the Obama campaign. It sounds like a Karl Rove strategy though I’m not sure that running down supporters of the opposition is the best way to win an election.

That article doesn’t match with the report by Politico. They name Bono as the witness; the link you cite names Bono as the pedestrian. The Politico article says the pedestrian was an unidentified 66-year-old man.

All funniness aside, isn’t that hit and run, plain and simple? Shouldn’t that be considered a somewhat more serious offense than to warrant a mere $50 fine, regardless of the seriousness of the injuries to the victim?

I say victim, because I’m assuming this 66-year-old man didn’t leap in front of Mr. Novak’s convertible. The witness says “a black Corvette convertible with top closed plows into the guy. The guy is sort of splayed into the windshield.”

Another witness says he asked the first witness what the commotion is about, and he replied, “This guy hit somebody and he won’t stop so I’m going to stay here until the police come”.

And we are to believe Mr. Novak’s claim that he didn’t realize he had hit someone?
