Washington Times joins conservative media in publishing McCain’s error-filled op-ed.

Following the lead of many other conservative outlets, the Washington Times today published Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) error-filled op-ed that the New York Times recently rejected. In an editor’s note, the Washington Times explains its decision:

EDITOR’S NOTE: The New York Times declined to run this op-ed. The New York Post ran a shorter version. We are running the op-ed in its entirety, as has the Drudge Report and some other media.

Indeed, many of the “other media” who have published the op-ed are conservative outlets, including foxnews.com and Rupert Murdoch’s The New York Post.

Since when are facts and reality required by the reich-wing?

    Thank God for retarded Trolls.

It's no wonder the Republic Party is taking a nose dive.

Being published in the Washington Times, the New York Post AND the Drudge Report? Wow, that's a trifecta of journalistic excellence.

That's your standard, the Drudge report? Why don't you try making truthfulness your standard? You'd serve the people better that way, though possibly not yourselves.

  8. Bobwurst Says:

I read somewhere that the op-ed will also be pubished in Mad Magizine next month. The cover will be a close-up of Mcain with a gap-toothed smile saying "What....Really, I don't remember...What?"

  9. McWars Says:

God doesn't want to be thanked for putting the idiot behind 'Tiberius' on Earth. It's a mistake he'd rather not talk about.

That task has been assigned to Tiberius this morning, apparently. They're letting Daryll sleep in. He had a hard night cruising male prostitutes. Er, trying to save their souls, of course.

  11. ralph the wonder llama Says:

I'm surprised it took this long to land in the Moonie Times. I'd have thought they'd be the "go-to" paper for right-wing hit pieces.

What's this about Katie Couric editing out McCain's stupid remarks, anyway? Link, please?

Daryll is a liberal sock puppet — not a real conservative.

Wrong. Daryll is a sophisticated performance artist whose work is informed with a rare insight into the mind and attitudes of the contemporary evangelical conservative.

Some consider him a comedian, some consider him a dramatist. It all depends on whether you see conservative ignorance as funny or tragic.

And of course "librul" CBS is guilty of the most egregious journalistic affirmative action in this whole campaign, editing an interview with McSame to make it look like he's not totally ignorant of the situation in Iraq.

Where's the mainstream coverage of that?

If some of you think McCain’s policies are so horrible, why wouldn’t you want his op-ed posted in the NYT as well as everywhere else? Are you worried people will read John’s views and agree with him rather than Barry?

Umm... not sure how to explain this to you, but... it's not really up to us.

Most of the criticism of McSame's op-ed has been its failure to state an opinion other than "Obama is bad". Seems that the NYT, which regularly publishes op-eds from right-wing pundits like Bill Kristol (and frequently have to issue corrections for them) has a fairly low bar to clear for right-leaning voices, and McSame still smacked into it with his forehead.

  27. McWars Says:

  28. Uncle Ho Says:

Give McPutz enough rope to hang himself-with his OWN words. The more he bloviates, the more people will see him as a demented, senile, old fool with absolutely NO idea of what he talks about.

  29. StratRat Says:

For any of our trolls, the fact that the NYT listed the Drudge Report as a reason to publish the op/ed, says it all.

That is the defense they came up with: Other outlets have also published this garbage, so we will too. Whatever happened to true journalism? Can you answer that question Katie Couric?

ralph, it only helps McCain when liberal rags like NYT flex their bias against McCain. Once again, NYT has become the story rather than reporting it. Now there is much more interest in John’s op-ed and it it got far more coverage than it may otherwise would have. NYT=0 McCain=1

  34. ralph the wonder llama Says:

    TripleKick 2 Says:
ralph, it only helps McCain when liberal rags like NYT flex their bias against McCain.

Could you provide examples of this bias? Because I've seen examples of a conservative bias in the NYT (Judy Miller's war reporting, holding the warrantless wiretap story until after the election, hiring Bill Kristol), but all I've ever heard from the Right is that the NYT is "leftist", almost as if, by saying it, it makes it true.

Now, if your argument is that by enforcing reasonable editorial standards and asking conservatives to meet them shows "bias", I don't think you'll be painting too flattering a picture of the conservative movement.

The NYT is the story because McStupid's Op/Ed had absolutely zero value and even less merit ; no one is interested in McDepends' opinion , and rightfully so ...........

What "coverage" ha McStupid's Op/Ed really gotten ?

Has anyone lauded it for being so concise ?

Stop praying in the dark , d-bag ; you are in for a colossal beating , come November...........

Do you really think you will get those examples? The liberal media concept is crucial to their worldview as righteous warriors battling the forces of evil. Oh, man, the howls from the reichwing about *gasp* FAIRNESS!! It's killing me.

The following occurred to me on my way in to work while I was listening (on Stephanie Miller's show) to all the reichwingers *whining* about how unfair the press is being to poor wittle picked-on John McCain:

That it's like GOLIATH whining that David had an unfair advantage because he had a slingshot...

Or GOLIATH whining that because David was so much smaller than he, he had an unfair advantage because he could run faster.

Jebus. I've never heard such a bunch of whining bawlbabies in my whole freaking LIFE!!

  39. ralph the wonder llama Says:

You're right dbadass; I keep making the mistake of thinking they play by the same rules of evidence-based judgment as we do.

It probably does make them feel manly. I'll give you that.

    http://hotair.com/ archives/ 2008/ 07/ 19/ maliki-obamas-16-month-timetable-sounds-good/

This is the edited Spiegal version on the magazine’s web site:

“Maliki: As soon as possible, as far as we’re concerned. U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama talks about 16 months. That, we think, would be the right timeframe for a withdrawal, with the possibility of slight changes.”

    The actual quote is here:

“SPIEGEL: Would you hazard a prediction as to when most of the US troops will finally leave Iraq?

Maliki: As soon as possible, as far as we’re concerned. US presidential candidate Barack Obama is right when he talks about 16 months. Assuming that positive developments continue, this is about the same time period that corresponds to our wishes.”

    July 23rd, 2008 at 12:33 pm

McCain: That was a bad translation. What Maliki really said was, "As late as possible, as far as we’re concerned. US presidential candidate John McCain is right when he talks about 100, 10,000, or 1,000,000 years."

  49. Art Says:

Now that the McCain letter is part of the public record, there is really nothing to prevent other people with differing opinions, to write to these orgainizations and express their opinions and to point out the errors in the McCain letter.
Happens all time in OP-ED pages all over the country.

The question here is, will the rebuttals be published?

"The libs were funny and pathetic though. deadbeatass (dbadass) asked me a question. They then promptly deleted Tiberius and deadbeatass posted: “see, he couldn’t answer it,” a few moments later. They can’t handle the truth."

  51. ralph the wonder llama Says:

    dbadass, where's that quote from?

I seem to recall a comment from Tiberius, briefly flashed before he got deleted, that said he didn't have to answer any questions, which prompted your "couldn't answer it" remark.

    Do I have that right?

  59. curious Says:

The Washington Times is owned by Rev.Sun Yung Moon. He bought this newspaper to advance the neoconservative agenda. This idiot man has the ear of the right. Of course he printed it.

This is the man who in a ceremony in a Congessional office was literally crowned king of religion in America. He was attended by and crowned by some famous congressman. He wore a robe, his wife was there. This is the man that claims he is the reincarnation of Jesus.

He has great influence with the right wing. There is a book about him written this year. It's called BAD MOON RISING. It details his grasp in this country and who the right wing players are who support him. And in return he gives them money and publicity in his newspaper. It makes the whole idea of him with his influence on the right even more frightening.

Bush's father is a great friend of his. He supports him totally. The right are crazy. If you have any doubt of that then read this book.

  60. Marie Says:

Not even presidents always get their op-eds published in the newspaper. The NYT often rejected op-eds from Clinton as well. I don't know if they ever rejected one from Bush - because I am not sure he is even capable fo writing one.
McCain was actually rescued from being hoisted by his own petard - his op-ed was full of mischarcterizations of Obama, offered no new policy information or opinion, and would have been an embarrassment to McCain - now the right wing has taken it up as "proof" that the media is liberal. So the NYT not only saved McCain, it gave the rightwingers a new "cause." The plan from the start?
