In a new Fox News/Opinion Dynamics Corp poll, just 27 percent of the country approves of President Bush’s job performance, which is his lowest approval rating yet in that poll:

TPM’s Eric Kleefeld points out that the Fox poll also contained “some rather loaded questions,” such as starting a question by stating that “some people believe Barack Obama, despite his professed Christianity, is secretly a Muslim.”

It’s a Fox poll, so it must be WAY lower.
**happy happy joy joy**
July 24th, 2008 at 9:41 pmHere are a couple of the other questions:
Have you heard any of your friends and neighbors say there is something about Barack Obama that scares them?
Yes 49%
No 50%
Have you heard any of your friends and neighbors say there is something about John McCain that scares them?
Yes 36%
No 62%
See—fair and balanced!
Wait, did they ask if you’ve heard any of your friends and neighbors say that McCain is old and confused?
July 24th, 2008 at 9:45 pmThat is scary…that means there is still something like 80 million people who think Bush is doing a good job:O
July 24th, 2008 at 9:51 pmI LIKE this one…
John McCain was held captive for five years in a North Vietnamese prisoner of war camp. Do you think that experience would make McCain a better president or a worse president?
Better 49%
Worse 11%
No Difference (voluntary) 33%
Because it begs some follow-ups like…
Do you think that a GITMO detainee kept as an enemy combatant for 5 years by the US would make as good a president as McCain, but for their own country?
July 24th, 2008 at 9:53 pm“’some rather loaded questions,’ such as starting a question by stating that “some people believe Barack Obama, despite his professed Christianity, is secretly a Muslim.”
Sounds to me like FoxSnooze conducted a push-poll — not an opinion survey. That’s about par for the course . . . “fair and balanced” my arse!
July 24th, 2008 at 9:53 pmor….
If George Bush had been held as a prisoner for the last five years, would that have made him a better President?
July 24th, 2008 at 9:54 pmYa got nothin’, John Kerry troll. As usual.

July 24th, 2008 at 9:56 pmWhat strikes me as sad and funny at the same time is that 7% (Don’t know). What are they not sure about?
1. We have been losing jobs in this country for almost 8 years.
2. Now we have record numbers in foreclosures for two years.
3. We have 50 million people without healthcare coverage.
4. We are being wiretapped and put on lists.
5. The whole world dislikes Bush.
6. Bush wants to bomb Iran.
7. He started an illegal war.
8. He gave Libby a get out of jail free card.
9. He authorized torture.
After just going through part of the list how can you possible not have an opinion one way or another.

July 24th, 2008 at 9:57 pmActually, it’s a new HIGH, 66% for a Disapproval Rating! But those 27% deadenders that Cheney speaks of will still support the shrub even if he ripped babys from their mothers arms and cut their throats and drank their blood.
July 24th, 2008 at 9:58 pmWorst….President…..Ever
Fact.
July 24th, 2008 at 10:01 pmJust FLAG the troll who has stolen the name of the honorable senator who served and was awarded a purple heart in Viet Nam because he’s OFF TOPIC and a total a$$hole.
July 24th, 2008 at 10:01 pmFolks, Flag, ignore, carry on
July 24th, 2008 at 10:03 pmhere’s an interesting one—good evening, Zooey—by the way:
When you really think about it, would you say your decision about which presidential candidate to support is based more on economic issues, national security issues or appointments to the U.S. Supreme Court?
Noe THAT’S fishing for an issue!
Any bets we’ll see a campaign linking SCOTUS and Gitmo “trials” about the end of August?
“If you vote for Obama he’ll appoint judges that will let the terrorists go free! “
July 24th, 2008 at 10:10 pmThey don’t mention the question that said, “Have you heard any of your friends and neighbors say that John McCain is black?”
July 24th, 2008 at 10:14 pmFreedom Rebel: After just going through part of the list how can you possibly not have an opinion one way or another.
Quite. But did you notice that apparently 1% of respondents had NEVER HEARD OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!?
Were some of the respondents just winding Fox up? :D
( btw in response to your Q. per a previous thread–I’m not homesick, I’m just jealous :D )
July 24th, 2008 at 10:18 pmchimpy’s approval rating is high for an imbecile.

July 24th, 2008 at 10:27 pmGood evening, 5th Estate. You’re on fire today!

I suspect that trolls who use our honorable names, as their nics, get some sort of sick sexual pleasure when we are telling their stupidasses off using one of our finest names.
This is why JK is really JK’s bytch.
July 24th, 2008 at 10:34 pmJesus, and this was a Fox News Poll, so you know it was padded by at least 10% to help convince the mouth-breathers that they were still on a potentially “Winning” team!
July 24th, 2008 at 10:36 pmSome polls matter like if US citizens want to impeach the current adminstration.
July 24th, 2008 at 10:37 pmmcchimpy’s left eye looks as if its falling asleep. Even half his body finds him a bore.

July 24th, 2008 at 10:42 pmI have a passion for polls and stats and especially comparative studies especially–concerting Aardvarks into jumping Chinese stretching to the moon and back isn;t as popular as it once was. .
And thanks for noticing my flammability. You’re on fire all the time in my estimation–me, I’m more like a Kingsford briquette. :D
Oh, good. I got here before the first troll brought up the “approval of the democrat congress” gambit.
I love it when they’re so desperate that they have to pull that one out.
July 24th, 2008 at 10:46 pmralph: Oh, good. I got here before the first troll brought up the “approval of the democrat congress” gambit.
From what I saw the Congress rating was 22%. Some other polls a while back had it at 11%.
So… there’s that I guess though it;s impossible to tell what lies behind the figures, though I;m guessing the R’s think the GOP is doing a great job whilst the D’s think it’s doing a lousy job ( and IMHO the GOP is doing great at doing lousy and the Dems are doing great at doing lousy but the Dema lousy is still way better than the GOPs great–which is of course lousy….ummm… it’s too damn late for this line of logic!) .

July 24th, 2008 at 10:59 pmThere will always be stupid people — like Jim Wilke.
July 24th, 2008 at 11:18 pmDid they have a question like:
Is Fox News slanted to the right, or favoring the creation of a fascist state?
Do Fox News hosts lack critical thinking skills, or just imitating lower primates for your entertainment?
July 24th, 2008 at 11:26 pm98.4% of the posters on this site believe Jim Wilke is irrelevant.
July 24th, 2008 at 11:27 pmFAUX = Unbelievable! or phoney.
July 24th, 2008 at 11:38 pmJim:
Even if Obama was a Muslim, who the hell cares? What are you, a bigot? Are you afraid the big mean old “rag-heads” are gonna steal your cookie?
July 24th, 2008 at 11:43 pmI think Faux Spews is the inventor of the “Some people” news source. They never identify these “some people”. The public does not know that “some people” are Rupert Murdoch and the top leadership of the American Nazi-Republican-Zionist Party.
Some people, meaning me and millions of Americans, think Rupert Murdoch is a ten dollar whore.
July 25th, 2008 at 12:39 amA FOX News poll? With leading questions? Loaded questions? Obama is secretly a Muslim, some people ‘believe’?
No one could have predicted!
July 25th, 2008 at 12:40 amIs Jim celebrating the ignorance of the American public?
July 25th, 2008 at 12:41 amWow. I’m surprised it took this long for a Bush apologist to bring up the “democrat congress”.
Kudos for using the properly uninformed construction “democrat” as an adjective, TrickleDick.
July 25th, 2008 at 12:43 amI figure the problem that people are having with the Democratic-controlled Congress must be that Congress hasn’t been doing enough to keep Bush under control.
July 25th, 2008 at 1:23 amBoy will we be in trouble when it hit`s the Shrubs I.Q……
:)
July 25th, 2008 at 1:34 amI hereby nominate Jim Wilke’s comment to the “Most Irrelevant Post In The Thread” award.
As for Bush’s approval rating, 27% still seems a little high. But then, as idiots like Tanqueray, Wilke, Mr. P, and Trajan show, that figure might simply reflect the number of knuckle draggers that still live among us.

July 25th, 2008 at 2:58 amway better than congress’s rate.
July 25th, 2008 at 7:52 amCongress low approval rating is because voters are frustrated and disappointed. In 2006 they voted for change but nothing happened. As it turned out, despite majority in both the House and Senate, Democrats dont actually control Congress. Bush and the Republican minority controls Congress

More accurate to say “The Minority Republi-wont’s successfully BLOCK congress from doing their job.”
If only the Democrats were as disruptive to the Republican Majority of the 109th congress. I’m sure their “approval” rating would be even lower than is the 110th!
Once the 111th Congress rolls around, with higher Democratic majorities, and a Democratic President, their approva rating will sky-rocket as the Republic’s won’t be able to cause as much disruption as they have recently.
July 25th, 2008 at 8:50 amThis may be a record for the Fox poll, but the lowest rating for this summer belongs to an L.A. Times/Bloomberg poll conducted June 16 - 23, 2008. That had a 23% approval rating for Bush and a 73% disapproval rating.
We have reached the point where about about two thirds of the country isn’t thrilled with our president and the job he has done, and about one quarter or so will support Bush no matter what. The polls continue to mirror this, fluctuating by only a few points.
I think the bigger story here is that Bush hasn’t had a positive approval rating by ANY POLL since 2005. Even Carter and Truman, who had low approval ratings of their own, can’t boast a losing streak that long.
July 25th, 2008 at 9:14 amVA_Voom loses points in #45 because he didn’t refer to it as the “democrat congress” as mandated by the RNC Style Manual.
July 25th, 2008 at 9:43 amCongress does have a low approval rating, this is true.
But how is this low approval reflecting in the congressional races across the country?
How many incumbent Democrats are going to lose their seats this November? Will the House and Senate once again turn back over to the Republicans?
July 25th, 2008 at 11:30 am“some people believe Barack Obama, despite his professed Christianity, is secretly a Muslim.”
Barack is a Hebrew name. Did the Fox News poll ask if people thought Barack is secretly a Jew?
July 25th, 2008 at 1:51 pmBarak is a Hebrew word. Barack is an Arabic word, but let’s stop posting off topic.
