O’Reilly Flips On Analyst He Once Called ‘A Truth-Teller’ After His Study Found Media Bias Against Obama

oreilly.jpgIn 2006, after the Center for Media and Public Affairs (CMPA) released a study showing that Democrats got more favorable coverage than Republicans, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly hailed the organization’s president, Dr. Robert Lichter, as “a truth-teller.” On his Fox News show, O’Reilly praised Lichter’s findings as definitive proof “that the media leans left” because “the stats are the stats.” [Fox News, 10/31/06]

But now that the CMPA has released a new study — using the same methodology — that found that ABC, NBC, and CBS have been tougher on Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) than Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) recently, O’Reilly has changed his tune about the validity of Lichter’s research.

In an Monday interview with Lichter on his radio show, O’Reilly called the new study “misleading” and “an enormous mistake” by Lichter. Lichter replied by telling O’Reilly, “you can take all my studies or none of my studies”:

O’REILLY: A study like yours gives the bad guys in the media, and they are legion now, protection, you know, they can hide behind it. You see what I’m talking about?

LICHTER: Well, I think the answer to that is: You can take all my studies or none of my studies. If you use a study, then you admit that the study is valid, and so if you say Obama’s getting bad press, we can quote this study. The same study, the same technique showed he was getting very good press before. And we’re going to be doing this all the way up to the election.

Listen here:

Despite O’Reilly’s claims that Lichter’s “technique” is no longer “valid,” there’s little doubt that he would tout his studies again if they found O’Reilly’s preferred narrative of “liberal bias” in the media.

You’re only right when you agree with me.

    Life is simple in Billoland

O’REILLY: A study like yours gives the bad guys in the media, and they are legion now, protection, you know, they can hide behind it. You see what I’m talking about?

Yeah, and you’re one of them BillO.

  4. rastaman says:

if O’reilly is worried and flipping out……then you know you’re on the right track.

  5. Shayne says:

It’s fun to hear Billo self destruct. How much longer can the complete collapse take and they haul him off in a straight jacket.

  6. RUCerious says:

O’Biley hates facts. Especially when they point out the true jackass he is.

  7. hussein toasterhead says:

TO PLAY US OUT?!?!! THERE ARE NO WORDS THERE!!!!!

  8. Shayne says:

And when the trolls get here and say why does TP post these threads, it’s because it’s working. Billo thinks we’re out to get him and it’s driving him even crazier than before. Ignoring him makes it seem like his platform is reasonable.

  9. citizen_pain says:

Dildo Lielly was, is, and always will be an untalented tabloid reporter, a la hard copy/inside edition caliber.

He’s a joke. I believe in karma, and sooner or later, he’ll get his.

  10. Aanya says:

It’s up to every single one of us, to make sure that the history books record the ethics practiced by every single member of the Bush administration, correctly! This is 8 years of the biggest crime against the U.S. Constitution ever!

  11. shoeless says:

The right-wing liars have been using the wrong numbers. They claim bias for Barack Obama by just using the amount of stories on him, while ignoring the fact that the overwhelming amount of that coverage has been negative.

Meanwhile, McCain has benefitted greatly from a lack of coverage, considering his daily gaffes, and his 71 (and counting) major flip-flops. The main reason the media isn’t covering McCain is that they are attempting to cover up his mendacity and incompetence.

  12. misshusseinmolly says:

I guess “the stats are the stats” only when the stats support your agenda.

  13. NoMoreBush says:

    So predictable.

  14. texaslady says:

Well o’reilly wants it both ways, pretty standard practice for republicans. It must be a republican trait to be able to lie out of both sides of the mouth.

  15. shoeless says:

Does Bill O’Reilly work for Keith Olberman? If not, Billo should start charging Keith for the daily material.

  16. tarazan says:

In O’Reilly’s world..he sets the rules of judging what’s good and what’s bad.
When things suits O’Reilly then they are good..and when they don’t suit him , then they ar not good at all.
When someone speaks good of O’Reilly, then he is the good guy,but when the same person criticses O’Reilly then he is the bad one,the liar and the liberal.
A good example of that is when he called McClellan a liar for exposing the degree of link between Fox netwrok and his show to the White House.
Here O’Reilly is not happy with the man who did this study, because he does not like the study, he liked studies earlier done by the same man that suited him…
    That’s how O’Reilly’s mind works..either you are with O’Reilly,or against O’Reilly.
O’Reilly is not looking for objectivity, he is looking to bully whoever disgrees with him.
His show is nothing but empty words made to make O’Reilly feels good, and generate money for Fox, and there is nothing that can be learned from O’Reilly show.
But alas ..he has viewers that like his bullying style on TV.

  17. texaslady says:

The scarey part is, so many viewers enjoy the hate baiting of o’reilly/rush/hannity so high ratings is job security.

  18. texaslady says:

And other than Keith O who is letting the public know how many times mccain has voted AGAINST anything for the military and our vets ? I want to see mccain’s record and the media ignores it. mccain is up bush’s backside so much he has a tan.

  19. belac says:

If you don’t think the media is biased, look no further than the Bush ‘warantless wiretap’ cover up. Had this been a democratic president who had authorized illegal spying on Americans pre-9/11 this would be all over the news, and he would have been dogged by everyone in the media wanting answers. His impeachment would be assured the second the story was announced… and yet?
See also- WMD, DoJ illegal hiring, no-bid contracts for former employers, record deficits, weakened dollar, ineffective troop armor, etc. etc…

  20. DwH says:

I give a rat’s a** what this fat bloviator thinks and hope he enjoys his remaining months in the spotlight. He is becoming irrelevant, although the left-leaning media on the web seems to be fascinated with every fart this idiot releases.

    Enough. Disempower him or disembowel.

  21. shoeless says:

    Quagmire,
Why do you and John McCain hate the troops?

  22. shoeless says:

Those stories were reported years late, and billions of dollars short.

  23. Leftside Annie says:

Yeah, Quaggie, anyone who speaks the truth is an idiot in your eyes.

I guess it takes one to know one, eh?

  24. shoeless says:

    Quagmire Says:

Had this been a republican vice president hopeful,

Do you mean someone is actually hopeful of being a republican vice president?

  25. belac says:

These are all stories that have been reported. What is your point?

As has Edwards alleged affair… you’re upset that the Enquirer is the only one to run with that nugget… I’m upset that these stories that actually qualify as news are buried in the back pages when the offenses are so egregious the reporters can no longer ignore them…

Which set of stories would you call more essetial to an informed electorate?

  26. Saint Augustine says:

Did anybody else notice when Billo said maybe he could get funding for a new study, if it was changed? It starts at 4:50

  27. texaslady says:

Q – The only difference between mccain and bush is that mccain actually served his country instead of awol bush. Do a little reading on what his own party write about him. mccain couldn’t even show up to vote on his party’s version of the GI Bill a watered down version of Jim Webb’s.
Go ahead hope that mccain gets in and watch your draft number show up. mccain will have to get cannon fodder somewhere, the young, poor are wising up and refusing the recruiters.

Blame it on the sad state of affairs in newrooms accross the country. If they would report stories without bias, we would all be better off.

Yes. For instance, if the newsrooms would have reported that George W. Bush and his administration was telling hundreds of lies to drag the country into war, instead of acting as White House cheerleaders in 2002, we would not now be in this quagmire, Quagmire.

  29. Shayne says:

    Quagmire Says:

If you don’t think the media is biased, look no further than the Edwards “baby momma” cover up. Had this been a republican vice president hopeful, this would be plastered all over the news, and he would be dogged by everyone in the media wanting answers. The story would have been posted here the second it was announced.

And if there was ANYTHING to this story it would be all over the media and we’d want it exposed. Everybody in LA knew that Edwards was in town working on a film. He didn’t “sneak” into town. Where are the pictures the Enquirer supposedly has?

AND, you’re off topic and FLAGGED.

  30. Leftside Annie says:

Quaggie, you ought to be ashamed of yourself for gossiping.

That story isn’t being reported by a single credible source.

National Enquirer?? Come on. Even a pathetic Chimpy leg-humper ought to be able to do better than *that*.

    Puh-lease.

    Fair and balanced cherry-picking.

  32. belac says:

If they would report stories without bias, we would all be better off.

I agree, but I fear you actually want ‘balanced’ and not ‘un-biased’ reporting… for while the truth would set us all free, the confusion caused by this ‘balance’ obsession is sooo much more profitable.

  33. Leftside Annie says:

Oh, and Quaggie? Is Chimpy still sleeping with Condoleeza Rice…?

    Enquiring minds want to know!!

  35. texaslady says:

Actually the Edwards story got as much attention as billo’s settlement with the phone sex with a former producer of his show. But what is the point ? mccain had an affair with his heiress before he was divorced from wife number 1. Who cares ? Quagmire, liberals don’t have to look into other people’s bedroom windows.

  36. gummitch says:

    Quagmire Says:

Edwards was on the short list for Obama’s VP. Edwards arrogance destroyed his chances to save the world. I’m thinking the electorate wants to know.

Prove that Edwards was on the short list — which has never been published.

  44. Daddy-O says:

O’Reilly? Refusing to accept the results of a study that show him to be wrong?

No one could have EVER predicted THAT!

And no one could have ever predicted that he would ‘trust George W. Bush again’, even after he vowed on his own show that he would never trust him if WMD were not found in Iraq.

How anyone trusts O’Reilly is the real puzzle.

  45. Daddy-O says:

Jealous of his success? YOU pity US?

    ha ha

Now that’s what a PROFESSIONAL troll would say. How much do they pay you to write comments? Enough to keep you in Dr. Pepper and Jalapeno Cheetos, no doubt.

    How pathetic. What a waste

Oh good. We agree about Bill O’Reilly.

  47. texaslady says:

Strange that I hear mccain reverse himself but never hear a follow up in the media, in CBS hid mccain’s blunders last week. But Obama is constantly pounded on every comment from religion to policy. Why is that ? And by the way religion should not even be an issue. Separation between Church and State remember ?
It would just be refreshing to have billo have an honest discussion once without his blowing and sneering.

Zim – don’t think a quarter will get that call, after all your minutes are up it is at least 35 cents. I try to check in during a commerical to billo’s rants and they are so far off the wall, again you would have to be high to listen to his whole show.

  59. gummitch says:

    Quagmire Says:

So what if it was written six weeks ago? It’s news! Second, he was mentioned, along with Hillary and others to be possible VP candidates. If you didn’t know he was a possible (logical) candidate, than you are not keeping up the “Times”.

First of all, you said “short list” which has a very specific definition. There were any number of “lists” in which people speculated on who might be a VP candidate, but none of them are a “short list” from Obama’s campaign.

And it’s been pointed out to you repeatedly that Edwards himself said he wasn’t running.

  60. osage says:

Today’s Republican Party, as exemplified by Mr. O’Reilly, is a freak show of hate-filled sociopaths, immoral religious and social extremists, insecure, overcompensating, irresponsible, dangerously incompetent, war-mongering imperialists and greedy, exploitive corporate anarchists. Just look at the odious and inadequate carnival barkers and snake oil salesmen the Republican Party had competing to be their presidential candidate. Republicans tacitly welcome homophobes, misogynists, racists, anti-Semites and messianic fundamentalist nut jobs into their party and inherently incorporate their values into their moral fabric and political objectives. Being a child of poverty raised with four younger siblings by a single mom, I’ve never agreed with social conservatives, but compared to Bush’s Republican Party, Eisenhower’s Republican Party was a liberal bastion of social and economic enlightenment and pluralism. Defending the actions of today’s Republican Party is advocating ignorance and evil over common sense and common decency. It would be hard to imagine that any presidential administration, Republican or Democrat, could have been as malicious, polarizing, undemocratic, corrupt or destructively pernicious to the founding causes and defining principles of our republic than George W. Bush’s. I am surprised that I am ashamed for the “good” Republicans, only because I could not have possibly imagined how “bad” some Americans were capable of being.

  61. texaslady says:

Ok I will bite what good points has billo made in the last 6 months ? Would that be when he was demeaning to the kidnaped boy ? Was that when he said there were no homeless vets but never allowed anyone to refute that ?

So we are back to the alledged “liberal media” crap again are we? Do I have to point out the magic of the invisible hand yet again? If the media is liberal it must be because the market demands it. Right? Why do these jackasses always wanna have shit both ways?

Explain again how the MSM’s failure to run with one irrelevant story from the ENQUIRER about a FORMER (yes, Edwards is now a private citizen)politicians ALLEGED affair proves that Bill O’ is right about a left wing bias in the media?

It’s been a long day already and I could use the chuckle…

  74. gummitch says:

    Quagmire Says:

John Edwards was on the list. How much more proof do you need?

You said “short list.” The “list” could have been 50 names for all you know and you have provided absolutely no evidence that Edwards was on a “short list”. Maybe you need to go figure out what that phrase means.

Just because some Congressman suggested a bunch of names does not make them “Obama’s short list.” Why is that so hard for you to understand?

  75. gummitch says:

And, really, why the heck am I wasting my time with this troll?

  76. texaslady says:

So what does Edwards maybe affair, have to do with actual, proved billo phone sex which his employers paid, paid paid off. The media is playing favorites to mccain, CBS proved that editing mccain’s blunders. Case proved.

  77. barfly says:

    Quagmire Says:

  80. texaslady says:

If the question was real, rush was excused from military service for a ass pimple. Guess that hindered him from walking or crawling. Hannity no, Coulter, doubt it. We all know Cheney had FIVE defferments, then married and reproduced quickly to keep from serving.

  81. texaslady says:

Military service would be nice, just to understand what you are sending others into, however, being a successful businessman would be an asset or even well traveled, none of which did bush qualify. mccain has NEVER had a job, went from wealthy family to wealthy wife.

  82. texaslady says:

Wonder if billo ever served have to look that up….probably had a cancer sore on his lip and couldn’t sneer.

  83. belac says:

    Quagmire~
See #102… I’m wondering how you intend to prove that Bill O’ is right and the actual researcher with actual factual research is wrong about the coverage…
Does the Enquirer’s Edwards story ‘prove’ the media is biased or does it just re-enforce your (and Bill O’s)preconceived notions about bias?
’cause all this he said/she said about short lists and whatnot doesn’t really change the results of this researchers study one bit, now does it?

  84. belac says:

If this was a republican VP hopeful, the MSM would have been all over this story.

I remember several sources mentioning Newt as a possible VP, no one mentioned his affair while his wife lay dying of cancer… (nor should they)
McCain is the actual candidate and he left a wife who waited for him while he was a POW and took up with a much younger heiress… (not relevant in my book, but you seem to disagree…)

How does any of this disprove (or even call into question)the results of the study conducted by Dr. Lichter?

It doesn’t… you and Bill O’ got nuthin’ but scandal and innuendo and that’s sad…

Sad for you and sadder for our country that this passes as ‘balance’

  85. dbadass says:

    I Quagmire:
Are you an ideologue? Wanna discuss the invisible hand? If we don’t put troops in harms way for no legitimate reason then you wouldn’t have to sweat it now would you?

  86. texaslady says:

So, CBS CNN NBC all hide mccain’s blunders but because Edwards supposed affair didn’t get the media attention, the media is Liberal ? Doesn’t equate.
Kind of like all bush’s lies not getting the attention they should makes the media liberal too I suppose.

  87. texaslady says:

Quaggie you must be a student of rover’s math.

  88. texaslady says:

Quaggie if you can stop reading the Enquirer could you please inform me of the good comments billo makes, one or two would be just fine. I have never heard anything out of his mouth worth remembering.

  89. barfly says:

No, they just state “We have lost this war.” like Harry Reid did while our troops are still in harms way! And they don’t call us patriotic for supporting the war either.

    Cry me a bloody river.

You guys have been using this “unpatriotic” rhetoric since the war started, and mixing in a little eliminationist fantasy, like Coulter’s “baseball bats” comment.

  90. pbg says:

    Jesus christ, Quagmire.
The John Edwards ‘baby daddy’ story was in the Enquirer. The same rag that told about Laura Bush filing papers for divorcing W.
Nobody picked up on it: not Fox News, not Glenn Beck, not the Washington Times, not theNational Review, not any conservative or right-wing news organization.
Which puts you in the position of condemning Fox News et. al. as liberal rags.

John Edwards was a competing candidate for President. He doesn’t want to run as Obama’s running mate.
And you know why that is? Do you know why hedidn’t drag his candidacy out as long as it could go?
Because his wife is dying of cancer.

Quagmire, you know why neither the RW media or the MSM are pursuing this?
Two reasons: 1) because it’s untrue
(yeah, that’s never stopped them before, I know)
and 2) Because of Michelle Malkin. She went after a crippled kid, stalked the family, spread lies–and the Republican Party had to correct her and apologize, but the damage was done. As with Michael J. Fox, as with Michael Savage on autism, the Right just lets their subhuman demon-face hang out in plain view.

So go on, insist that the media attack they guy whose wife is dying of cancer. Attack the guy who isn’t running for anything.
And while you’re at it, kick a few puppies into traffic and set a few kittens on fire.

    Keep up the good work.

  91. KingCranky says:

The best term for O’Reilly, Rush. Hannity, Savage, Coulter, etc, and their easily-debunked sheepletards is “bedwetting Tories”, as no doubt, they would have supported the Brits during the Revolution.

Oh, and Quagmire-perfect ID for someone parroting the party that’s bogged-down and sinking rapidly with the voters, the GOP-I’m sure that the vast majority of supposedly “undecided voters” at this point will, once they’re about to cast their Presidential ballot, decide that McCain gets their vote because Edwards might have been floated as a VP choice for Obama.

“Bedwetting Tory” certainly fits the blithering trolls here.

The FCC has admitted that 98% of the complaints of media bias they received originated with Bozell’s little group of cranks.

Try again. With a reputable source.

    http://www.mediaresearch.org/biasbasics/biasbasics1.asp

    Does that help any?

Yeah, boy, that looks like an objective organization. Maybe we should start with all the books of Ann Coulter.

Why don’t YOU start with a book?

The essential absurdity of the “liberal media” lie is this: all of the major media outlets in this country are part of huge corporations or are themselves huge corporations, all of whom are intrinsically conservative by their very nature. Why would they continue to tolerate “liberal” content? What they are really interested in are happy consumers, who will buy the products of their advertisers and the other divisions of their corporations.

And, as noted by people like Wayne, if liberal content does dominate the media, it’s obviously because that’s what the market has chosen — and “conservatives” worship the market.

  94. belac says:

    Quaggie~
    How about I link to http://www.mediamatters.org ?
    Doesn’t covince you, huh?
See, that’s the problem with he said/she said… you belive the one you already agree with…

Luckily, in this one instance, we have a researcher who has no stake in the outcome… just want’s to uncover the truth.
No when his results matched your and Bill O’s expectations there was no complaint…
but when his research shows a shift in attitudes you both cast Dr. Lichter aside and start whinining about an ENQUIRER story not recieving wider coverage… Was the Weekly World News too left wing to cover it, too? Is bat boy a cave-dwelling liberal?
Good Lord, your desperation is almost sweet.

  95. dbadass says:

Apparently Quagmire doesn’t believe in the powe of the invisible hand. Quagmire are you some sort of commie pinko? The market decides what is preferred. If the media is left it is because that is what the market wants. Come on man get with the program!

  96. gummitch says:

    Quagmire Says:

No, they just state “We have lost this war.” like Harry Reid did while our troops are still in harms way! And they don’t call us patriotic for supporting the war either.

Or unpatriotic for doing so. Nor do they call anti-war people patriotic. Is that it? Do you just need a pat on the back?

  97. dbadass says:

    Quagmire:
I myself have never served but as an educator I have had many learners who have gone on to serve. I have asked quite a few about this whole concept of “supporting the troops” and whether or not the home front has to wave the flag for whatever bullshit cause they have been placed in. Almost universally they have said that they feel that that is a canard and that it has zero impact on their ability to do their jobs no matter if they believe or do not believe in the political “justifications” for their efforts. Most of the kids I have spoken to who have been involved in Iraq don’t even think they should be there. They wanna be in Afghanistan

  98. barfly says:

His belief that MoveOn.org is taking over the democrat party is dead on.

Yup, those FISA votes sure showed how much control they have.

    Spot on…

  99. KingCranky says:

Gore DID serve over in Vietnam, as a military reporter, not on the front lines, but FAR closer to the action than any of the Vietnam/military-avoiding Chickenhawks Q seems so smitten with.

In spite of how much the trolls rail, wail and gnash their teeth, nothing will change the reality that the GOP, and McCain, are going to get CRUSHED at the ballot box come Election Day this year.

The trolls know this, know they’re absolutely helpless to stop this political Little Big Horn, and can’t stand it.

    Too bad, so sad.

  100. StratRat says:

    Some Idiot Troll Spewed:

Has Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Obama, Biden Edwards, Gore, Pelosi, Reid, ever worn the uniform?

Asshat, they are not advocating endless war with the planet. If you cheerlead a war – an illegal one, then get your ass over there and fight the good fight. What a putz!

  101. belac says:

His belief that MoveOn.org is taking over the democrat party is dead on.

Oh, got any research to back that up? Or is this just another self-evident truth that the ‘common sense’ crowd loves so much?

BTW what’s the democrat party? Is it a white-tie affair?

  102. upside99 says:

    Strat,

I heard Quag actually tried to sign up, but his permanently Cheeto-stained fingers kept him out. Would have FUBARed his M-16.

Kind of like all bush’s lies not getting the attention they should makes the media liberal too I suppose.

I already mentioned Bush’s HUNDREDS OF LIES that the media neglected to report as they were cheering Bush’s drive to war in 2002/2003.

Quagmire refused to acknowledge such an inconvenient fact. Just like his idol, Bill O’Reilly, he throws out major, earthshattering facts which do not fit his delusions.

  104. texaslady says:

Quaggie – MoveOn.Org is taking over the Democrat Party that is your great comment from billo ? That is an opinion not a fact , just as billo is an blathering idiot, my opinion. billo voices opinion, his own, and allows NO dissent. Gee, who does that sound like ?

  105. belac says:

If that’s not bias, then I don’t know what else is.

    No, that’s right, you don’t.

That’s why you should listen when a respected researcher tells you the results of his research into negative coverage… you might learn something that your ‘common sense’ didn’t already decide for you.

  106. texaslady says:

Quaggie your opinion that CBS, NBC, MSNBC (morning show) never critize mccain’s flipflopping or blunders still considers the media Liberal ? The worst I heard was mccain had a bad week last week. Bad would be the understatement of the year, totally out of touch would be closer to reality.

  107. shoeless says:

    Quagmire Says:

His belief that MoveOn.org is taking over the democrat party is dead on.

Where did you and Bill O’Reilly heard about this takeover, at a Democratic National Committee strategy meeting?

Quaggie – MoveOn.Org is taking over the Democrat Party that is your great comment from billo ?

Yes, and O’Reilly heard it from his dog.

    Strat,

I heard Quag actually tried to sign up, but his permanently Cheeto-stained fingers kept him out. Would have FUBARed his M-16.

I did too. I also heard that Quag was asked to be toilet trained as a condition for enlistment. Seems his Mom can’t follow him around during basic training to clean up after him. And they won’t let him wash is diapers out in the sink, like he does at home – right before dinnertime.

I am certain he would like to serve, aren’t you? He seems very gung ho about advocating war, just not participating in it.

  110. Leftside Annie says:

Poor Quaggie. Outgunned, outmanned, outflanked and outwitted.

Next he’ll be sputtering that the dog ate his homework.

  111. StratRat says:

    Quagmire Says:

Corporations do own the newsrooms and publications. The editors and managers that run the newsrooms are liberal. Just ask them.

I just asked them. They said you suck.

So using your immense business knowledge, if the OWNER of the newsroom wants a right side stance, the editor (the EMPLOYEE of the OWNER) can do simply what they want, regardless of what their EMPLOYERS say? Does that sound as crazy as I think it sounds? The employee telling the owner what will get published. I guess in bizarro world, it would work that way.

  112. gummitch says:

    Quagmire Says:

If you do not believe that that The New York Times is a liberal publication, you are not honest or unwilling to look at them objectively. The WSJ is conservative wouldn’t you say? When Bush1 was running for office in 88, The NYT printed a picture on the front page of him coming off a plane during the campaign. In the back ground on the fuselage, the words WARNING and DANGEROUS, which were waring signs for mechanics. But the photographer took a good shot of him with the words in the background. If that’s not bias, then I don’t know what else is.

That’s it? That’s your evidence of bias? Gawd, I have tears in my eyes from laughing.

  113. dbadass says:

Is it just me or is Quagmire unable or unwilling to acknowledge the power of the invisible hand”? Either you believe your bullshit rightwing free market small government or you don’t? You can’t have it both ways. If you wanna believe in a left media then you must assume it is the result of market forces. If not then explain the forces which have upset your fantasy apple cart

  114. pete says:

    Slightly OT:

Has Bill0 called anyone a pinhead for suggesting his hate filled book may have contributed to the recent church shooting?

  115. upside99 says:

    Hey Strat,

If we do go to a draft next year, will being a card-carrying NeoCon Chickenhawk get you a deferment?

I guess our favorite trolls here and most of the Repug Party would be quite relieved if if did.

  116. dbadass says:

Well shit. If Fox is kicking everyone’s ass and if fox leans right, then the whole premise of a left media is still bunk since now the claim is that the media source most dominating is right leaning. Damn some people just never know when to shut up…

  117. belac says:

Do you believe that the majority of Hollywood insiders(actors, directors, producers, etc.) are liberal, conservative, or neither?

Do you believe this relates to the toic a lot, a little, or not at all?

  118. dbadass says:

    157:
Not that I believe or disbelieve but let’s say Hollywood insiders lean left which is what you wanna hear, what market forces do you feel have caused this. Wanna go with the same idea as to labor unions and education?

  119. belac says:

    @ 159 toic = topic

Still haven’t heard why you and Bill O’ are so convinced that that Dr. Lichter, who was once so right, is now so wrong… other than you just ‘know’ it, of course.

  120. gummitch says:

    Quagmire Says:

Are you that obtuse? Why do you think Fox news is kicking everyones ass? Because they are the alternative to what the media was. It’s why you hate them. They lean to the right. The market wants fair media. Are they fair and balanced as the proclaim? I’d say half the time they are. The cable news race is an indicator of what viewers want. CBS, NBC, and ABC’s numbers are in the tank.

Tank? Nice tank if you can get it. NBC and ABC nightly news are over 7 MILLION. Even CBS is over 5 MILLION.

And FoxNoose? Well, here’s the ever-popular Bill O’Reilly’s numbers.

    Oops. 2 million?

  121. pete says:

Katie Couric is a liar, a plagiarist, and a disgrace to journalism. She’s a very good example of what is wrong in media. Namely, they aren’t held to any higher standards than the government.

However, her shortcomings in no way mitigate Bill0’s hateful presence. Labeling peaceful, respectful, people who happen to disagree, as “traitors”, “unamerican”, “pinheads”, “enemies” or “Nazis” is reckless and dangerous. We have no hope as a society if Bill0 and his ilk are allowed to continue poisoning the psyche of the ignorant and stupid.

PS. Print media is failing because it’s obsolete technology, not because of perceived bias. The web will soon replace papers and mags.

  122. barfly says:

If someone wishes to live in a fantasy world, who are we to burst his bubble? We know the media is overwhelmingly aligned with the Right. His programming will not allow him to ever acknowledge the truth. You might as well argue with an atm.

  123. pete says:

    belac,

Dr Licter implied Bill0 was wrong. Dr. Lichter is, therefore, an enemy of the state. Duh.

  124. belac says:

You might as well argue with an atm.

But the argument is not for his benefit… just like his posting here is not for ours. The right has ‘gamed the ref’ so successfully for all these years that reporting has disintegrated into exactly the type of he said/she said nonesense that Quaggie is pushing here…
It’s time to re-focus the argument and not allow the rightwing’s obssession with ‘bias’ and ‘balance’ cloud the truth any longer.

  125. Leftside Annie says:

So tell us, Quaggiepoo, what kind of dog do you have…?

  126. dbadass says:

I encourage you all to join me in me quest for a real dialogue with Quagmire at the Olbermann thread. No doubt Quagmire will be happy to entertain a logic based discussion free from blind ideology and full of subtance supported by high levels of logic and critical thinking

  127. saywhatyouwill says:

Do you lot ever stand back and look at the incestuous drivel you’re writing to each other? And all this while Rome burns? Why is Rome burning, you ask? Because you bloody lot, through your interventions, regime changes and profligacy in your life-style, have ignited it.Get back to the real issues and deflate your giganitic egos.

Obama and Biden’s moaning about all of this would be far easier to stomach if they, too, opposed the Bridge to Nowhere. Not so.

Obama and Biden had an excellent opportunity to do the right thing. Just seven weeks after Hurricane Katrina, Senator Tom Coburn (R., Okla.) proposed to transfer $125 million from the notorious Bridge’s budget and instead devote it to rebuilding the Interstate 10 Twin Spans Bridge between New Orleans and St. Tammany’s Parish. The storm chopped up the bridge.

“We have the largest natural catastrophe we have ever seen in our history,” Coburn said on the Senate floor on October 20, 2005. “It is time we reassess the priorities we utilize in this body as we think about our obligations at home.”

Coburn’s amendment failed 15-82. Obama and Biden were among the “nays.” They and 80 other senators preferred to protect the earmarking tradition than to assist Katrina’s tempest-tossed citizens.

Obama and Biden put pork first and people second. While the residents of New Orleans and southern Louisiana endured perhaps their greatest challenge since the Civil War, Obama and Biden both turned their backs on these embattled Americans.
