Obama and Biden’s moaning about all of this would be far easier to stomach if they, too, opposed the Bridge to Nowhere. Not so.

Obama and Biden had an excellent opportunity to do the right thing. Just seven weeks after Hurricane Katrina, Senator Tom Coburn (R., Okla.) proposed to transfer $125 million from the notorious Bridge’s budget and instead devote it to rebuilding the Interstate 10 Twin Spans Bridge between New Orleans and St. Tammany’s Parish. The storm chopped up the bridge.

“We have the largest natural catastrophe we have ever seen in our history,” Coburn said on the Senate floor on October 20, 2005. “It is time we reassess the priorities we utilize in this body as we think about our obligations at home.”

Coburn’s amendment failed 15-82. Obama and Biden were among the “nays.” They and 80 other senators preferred to protect the earmarking tradition than to assist Katrina’s tempest-tossed citizens.

Obama and Biden put pork first and people second. While the residents of New Orleans and southern Louisiana endured perhaps their greatest challenge since the Civil War, Obama and Biden both turned their backs on these embattled Americans.

But the argument is not for his benefit… just like his posting here is not for ours. The right has ‘gamed the ref’ so successfully for all these years that reporting has disintegrated into exactly the type of he said/she said nonesense that Quaggie is pushing here…
It’s time to re-focus the argument and not allow the rightwing’s obssession with ‘bias’ and ‘balance’ cloud the truth any longer.

Dr Licter implied Bill0 was wrong. Dr. Lichter is, therefore, an enemy of the state. Duh.

However, her shortcomings in no way mitigate Bill0’s hateful presence. Labeling peaceful, respectful, people who happen to disagree, as “traitors”, “unamerican”, “pinheads”, “enemies” or “Nazis” is reckless and dangerous. We have no hope as a society if Bill0 and his ilk are allowed to continue poisoning the psyche of the ignorant and stupid.

PS. Print media is failing because it’s obsolete technology, not because of perceived bias. The web will soon replace papers and mags.

Are you that obtuse? Why do you think Fox news is kicking everyones ass? Because they are the alternative to what the media was. It’s why you hate them. They lean to the right. The market wants fair media. Are they fair and balanced as the proclaim? I’d say half the time they are. The cable news race is an indicator of what viewers want. CBS, NBC, and ABC’s numbers are in the tank.

Tank? Nice tank if you can get it. NBC and ABC nightly news are over 7 MILLION. Even CBS is over 5 MILLION.

If you do not believe that that The New York Times is a liberal publication, you are not honest or unwilling to look at them objectively. The WSJ is conservative wouldn’t you say? When Bush1 was running for office in 88, The NYT printed a picture on the front page of him coming off a plane during the campaign. In the back ground on the fuselage, the words WARNING and DANGEROUS, which were waring signs for mechanics. But the photographer took a good shot of him with the words in the background. If that’s not bias, then I don’t know what else is.

Corporations do own the newsrooms and publications. The editors and managers that run the newsrooms are liberal. Just ask them.

So using your immense business knowledge, if the OWNER of the newsroom wants a right side stance, the editor (the EMPLOYEE of the OWNER) can do simply what they want, regardless of what their EMPLOYERS say? Does that sound as crazy as I think it sounds? The employee telling the owner what will get published. I guess in bizarro world, it would work that way.

I heard Quag actually tried to sign up, but his permanently Cheeto-stained fingers kept him out. Would have FUBARed his M-16.

I did too. I also heard that Quag was asked to be toilet trained as a condition for enlistment. Seems his Mom can’t follow him around during basic training to clean up after him. And they won’t let him wash is diapers out in the sink, like he does at home – right before dinnertime.

I am certain he would like to serve, aren’t you? He seems very gung ho about advocating war, just not participating in it.
