Limbaugh marks 20 years on the air with call from the Bush family.

Conservative radio talker Rush Limbaugh marks twenty years on the air today. During his show this afternoon, Limbaugh received a call from the President George W. Bush, former President George H. W. Bush, and former Governor of Florida Jeb Bush. The Bush family congratulated their “pal” Limbaugh on his “twenty years of important and excellent broadcasting.” Later in their conversation, former President Bush — apparently not realizing he was on the air — asked about “our man [Roger] Ailes,” the president of Fox News:

rush.jpgH. W. BUSH: Do you see our man Ailes at all?

LIMBAUGH: Oh, yeah. I saw Roger at Tony Snow’s funeral…And a couple of times earlier this summer.

H. W. BUSH: Are we on the radio, are we? [...] I didn’t know that. I’ll clean up my act here. I’m glad they told me.

Listen here:

Yesterday, Vice President Dick Cheney sent Limbaugh a recorded message calling him “one of the great names in broadcasting history.”

Americans are sickened that the Bush family feels it necessary to congratulate the country’s leading Preacher of Hate.

The Republican Party is the Nazi Party. Pass the word.

Yup. Good old GDumbya was sitting around over lunch with Poppy and Jebby. I heard the call. Sure sounded like “the drinking lamp was lit at the White House”.

Well would rush be part of the “liberal” media that is so negative about bush/cheney’s war ? Wait, I thought rush said he was tired of being the waterboy for the repubs what happened to that ?

  6. Marie says:

Is Bush now on his month long vacation clearing brush on the ranch? I think he bought a pig in a poke when he bought that “ranch” it has so much brush on it that in 7 years he still hasn’t cleared it.
Hmmm, It could also speak to the Bush work-ethic.

  7. Angry McAngus says:

Heh. Runs in the family. Grandfather Prescott Bush was a Nazi symp and financial supporter of Third Reich. “Our man Ailes” is current minister of propaganda.

  11. iggy says:

If the Democrats had the political sense of the Republicans, they’d be on television citing some of Limbaugh’s most disgusting statements, and claiming that Bush supports those statements unless he specifically denounces them.

    Why don’t they?

Because if (say) Barack Obama went on the show of a drug addict who indulged in hate speech and praised him, the Republicans would be all over it like stink on shit.

  12. dasm says:

“twenty years of important and excellent broadcasting.” Obviously these people have a completely new meaning for ‘important’ & ‘excellent’. More proof the Bush clan are tasteless, hate-mongering goons. The faster they all just head out & clear brush for the rest of their lives, the better. Limbaugh represents everything that is the opposite of Jesus’ teachings & Christian beliefs– and these guys support him? How hollow their “family values’ mantra is.

  13. texaslady says:

Last night it came out that mccain’s staff were ready to hit Obama if he went to Landstuhl or if he didn’t. Obama couldn’t win. Why is it so hard to run a clean campaign on issues instead of personal attacks.

Karl Rove doesn’t know how to run a clean campaign and obviously he’s working on McCain’s. For free no doubt. After all who has more to lose than Rove if Obama is elected. With McCain as President Rove would never even have to face charges for all the crimes he’s committed.

  23. Gregor Samsa says:

Pres George Bush, calling to congratulate you on twenty years of important and excellent broadcasting.

More evidence that carrying water for the political, social, and economic elite can earn you a nice living.

That’s what all these reichwing hatemongers dream of: Making lots of money, golfing with the wealthy and powerful. It’s what keeps them spewing the same halftruths, spin, misdirections, and outright lies. What a sorry state of affairs.

Because the Repugs (and McDepends) are morally and politically bankrupt. They’ve got nothing else to go on. As soon as Obams eats Johnny Boy alive in a few debates, watch the hate machine go into full speed ahead. And much of our voting public are LIV; they want someone to regurgitate whatever they are supposed to know.

It will be a long and shit-slinging campaign season. Get out your Handi-Wipes and your disinfectant!

  35. CitizenGeek says:

Rush Limbaugh is a despicable human who breathes hatred and intolerance, on a large scale, into American society and the President of US actually calls to congratulate him on 20 years of his vitriol? Hah! It’d be funny if it wasn’t so sad.

Michelle Malkin (who, evidently, is also an absolute moron) had a post on her blog celebrating Rush Limbaugh as if he was some kind of idol. How sick is that?

  36. Robt says:

Rush on air for 20 years whipping retards into killers of the Christian liberal church going, to protect the country is valued by a President to call him?

Or was it Rush’s fax machine was down and Bush needed to get his daily talking points to Rush by phone..?

  37. helenahandbasket says:

It’s like celebrating the 20th anniversary of a tumor.

  38. Pernell says:

Craig Crawford was on Book TV re: his book Attack the Messenger: How Politicians Turn You Against the Media. He said the basis for part of his book was studying Dan Rather’s interview with Bush 41 when Rather tried to ask 41 about Bush about Iran Contra and Bush attacked him. Craig’s theory was that Bush went into the interview planning to attack Rather.

Craig went to CBS and interviewed people about it and ran into a cameraman who worked the interview. The cameraman told Crawford he knew the attack was planned because when it came time for the attack, Roger Ailles – who was there off camera – held up a big cue card telling Bush when to attack Rather. Anyway, the interview with the cameraman put the seal on what Craig thought, it was an organized planned attack. I would add an attack on a journalist to protect Bush’s keester and avert answering questions about a huge issue – treason on the part of Reagn/Bush.

  39. Peter C says:

It’s the Bush family that has been the tumor, Helena. Rush is just the fetid smell that accompanies it.

Why would any Jewish person vote repug? This should be a given.

  42. DanCaveman says:

I remember when Rush was considered a kook, way outside of the mainstream discussion. It is nice to see how mainstream he has become.

People like Rather who are real journalists get their career destroyed for speaking the truth, but having a false document (it didn’t seem intentional). People like Rush Limbaugh throw out lies and smears on a Regular basis and get rewarded for it.

We are living in Bizarro world. I want to get off this carnival ride.

  43. dporter says:

Ugh, so now that we have PROOF that FOX News’ sole goal is to tow the conservative line, can we please have the FCC force FOx to stop saying “Fair and Balanced” and require FOX to say “The most one-sided, opionated, conservatively slanted program that sometimes has a little bit of truthful reporting”

    Seriously.

    (4) Intellectual insufficiency that leads you to believe that foul language substitutes for brilliant repartee?

My FIRST two (2 for those of you who have trouble ‘reading’ numbers) degrees were in Broadcast Journalism & Political Science. My NEXT two (2) Master’s were in Special Education and Educational Psychology.

“El Rushmo” is truly legendary in his ability to attract (and HOLD) an audience as well as his longevity! Is it the rather awesome salary that he commands in the free-market system that has most of you with your panties in a wad from jealousy?

I spent 41 years teaching metally retarded & emotionally disturbed teen-agers. Why do I read most of your comments and feel that I’ve gone back into the classroom???
