Ari Fleischer drafted by Packers to broker deal with Favre.

After being “reinstated and restored” to the Green Bay Packers roster on Monday, Brett Favre and the Packers are in a “stalemate” about his future with the team. In an attempt to move forward, the Packers have hired former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer for “one month as a consultant.” Fleischer is currently President of Ari Fleischer Sports Communications.

Update ESPN's Matt Mosely writes, "What, was Scott McClellan not available?"

how’s about they both retire and just go away!
maybe start a catfish farming business down south – Farve & Fleischer’s Fish Farm

  8. help.me.jebus says:

I’m sure he’ll say something like

“In the post 9/11 world we can’t allow Brett to play for the vikings or the bears”.

  9. Leftside Annie says:

Uh-oh – Brett better hook him up to a lie detector right quick!!!

  10. help.me.jebus says:

Or maybe he’ll say that “if we allow Brett to play for the Vikings, the terrorists win”

My second favorite team of all time is the one currently playing the Packers!

Great, members of two of the worlds most corrupt and detrimental organizations make the news.

  16. RUCerious says:

Gotta wonder if Ari would like to take a hit from a 315 pound lineman rushing in at about 20 mph, helmet to groin.?

  17. krazeeinjun says:

Favre better have a team of lawyers at the ready to read all the fine print they’ll be stuffing in any contract they offer him. The packer management has hired a seasoned and adept liar in Ari “Pinocchio” Fleischer to represent their interests.

    Just saying . . .

  18. stateofthedivision says:

One of the founders of Freedom’s Watch takes on the case of Brett Farve? Brett’s ability to play in Minnesota stands head and shoulders above Burma, Pakistan and Tibet, countries abandoned by Ari’s 527 group.

  19. stateofthedivision says:

Oh, Ari’s working on behalf of the Packers. Watch out Brett!

  20. stateofthedivision says:

In football it’s called a spiral, in politics spin. Ari’s a master of the latter. Prepare to hear lots of spin from the Packers!

  21. Crusty Old Bastard says:

I would like to offer my insulting services on the matter and they are not expensive at all. It fact, if the Packers were to follow my advice they would save a lot of money. I am sure the stadium at Rambo Field has bunches and bunches of Men’s rooms. The Packers could sign Favor (either change the spelling or pronounce it right!) to the commodes and Ari to the urinals at minimum wage. I admit they both would be under-qualified but, what the hell, some sacrifices. Their bonus: Larry Craig may show up for a game. Let’s waste our time on McPain—at least he is laughable, old, and ugly just like me.

  22. TheRadicalRightisRadicallyWrong says:

    Had enough at 12…

I’m gonna need second source confirmation on that one, There is just no way McInsane could be that farkin stoopid, is there?

  23. Fred says:

Seems logical to me that ari would go to football after failing in politics. After all sports in America today is a corrupt organization that puts it’s own interests ahead of the good of America with thier win at any cost attitude(see steroids, bullying, rapes on campus, did I mention columbine, college grads who cannot read, etc. but the money is good……oh yeah thats how the republicans approach politics.

Seriously sports have contributed to the downfall of our public school system. I’m sure ari is on board for that.

  24. dixie blood says:

    PHUCK THAT!!!!!!

    HOW ABOUT PAT TILLMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  25. Crusty Old Bastard says:

Fred says: “Seriously sports have contributed to the downfall of our public school system.”

With all respect Fred, it is not the sport, per se, that as caused the downfall of our school system. Look instead to that one predominant human factor that is currently running amok—GREED— from the parents (who want their boy to be the next Bert Favor or their daughter to be cloned with a tennis racket in all four hands), the teachers, the coaches, the administrators, the entre manures vending hot dogs and beer from the tailgates of their pick-ups, the media that want to sell commercial time, and even to us that want our old Alma Mater to have a winning season so we can collect on our bet with the bookie. It is not the sport that is to blame, it is all the unsportsmanlike conduct of we peripheral folks that is to blame.

I’m sure the congenital liar will advise both sides to “watch what they say and watch what they do” in this post 9/11 period.

Sure, why not bring in a trusted, honest broker like him?

    Geez!

    So…all sports fans are Republicans?

Really TP? Seriously. This is no different than covering Brittany and Paris, even with a token appearance from Fleischer.

    Favre leaves Lambeau, maybe Packers
The Associated Press – 20 minutes ago
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – The bond between Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers appears to be broken beyond repair. Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Tuesday evening that after approximately six hours of what he called “brutally honest” conversations with …

    Ari is with the Packers?

I thought he would be with Karl at FOX for big money?

A strategistic spokes person for the GOP and McCain to continue the GOP GW rule. Ari was said to be all respect when he came out sliming Scotty and his book.

  37. Marie says:

So when did Ari Fleischer become president of a sports enterprise — I thought he was busy with Freedom Watch?
I didn’t realize he was such a sports aficionado – or maybe that is not a necessary qualification.

  38. Cheeseheadliberal says:

I’m a huge lifelong Packer fan and I love Brett Favre. My opinion on this is Ted Thompson and the Packers managment have royal screwed up this situation because Thompson has wanted to get rid of Favre since he took over the GM job. As a Packer fan I am very sad that they are treating one of the best things to ever happen to this franchise like a piece of dirt. Yes, Brett acted like a dumb jock, but isn’t he isn’t really supposed to be a P.R. genius is he? He’s just supposed to play football and that’s all he wanted to do again.

Anyways, with all of that being said, none of this is anywhere near as important as making sure we prevent a McCain presidency and further erosion of this country and what it should stand for by corrupt and mis-guided Republicans.

My one thought is that soon Ari will make an announcement that they finally have decisively found a Weapon of Mass Destruction and it’s name is Ted Thompson.

  39. sectionop92 says:

No…Brett Favre’s retirement antics and indecision for the past seemingly “umpteen” years led to him being the odd man out. Thompson and McCarthy gave Favre opportunities to come back and be the QB of the team. Brett just didn’t know what he wanted and thinks he is above the team because of his legacy and thus his legacy should grant him an instant pardon. He never considered that the team would move on without him. Plus Aaron Rodgers has stood by and earned his shot. The team’s playbook is now crafted to his style and strengths after months of work. Bringing Favre back now would inherently kill team chemistry and probably insure Rodgers leaves GB when his rookie contract is up.

Then again…to the comment earlier that sports have ruined the school system…no, that is what virtually every state legislature and failed federal education policies have done for decades. Some school districts can stay ahead of the curve, but many others fail because of petty bickering and tax groups who say, “nope…you aren’t taxing A-Z, 1-100,000,000 from us”. Sports does help give a school an identity and bring in a source of outside funding, that does help give many kids extra-curricular activities that can help with a college application. But I welcome reading the cliches about competitive parenting and how sports is corrupted. Sports is relatively mild when you compare it to politics and the world of celebrities.

  40. DieNowForPeace says:

    Another botched job Ari.

I hear “FArVE” ain’t going back to the Packers.

He even turned in his personal “cheesehead” – he’s done.
