While on vacation I did the following to see if there is any decency, honesty anywhere left:

I stopped at a small average restaurant in a small town. The tab came to $17… instead of paying with one $20 bill I slipped in 2 a total of $40 then quickly made it to the car.
The waitress made a mad dash out of the restaurant into the parking lot to give me back the $20 she felt I mistakenly gave her. I just smiled and told her to keep it. The look on her face was priceless.

To many this is insane, and the waitress probably thought so, but finding honesty somewhere was well worth $20.

I agree and it was a very selfish act to run for the presidency and not disclose this issue in the beginning. To too many, this is a huge issue and that said, it would have cost him and the dems the presidency.

It does make one wonder. What would have been the result if the two candidates were both adulterers? It would have been a sh!t fest of biblical proportions!

The news of Edwards cheating on his wife are met with outrage. The news of Bush shredding the Constitution are met with indifference.

I can already see the FauxNews line of attack: “What do we tell our children?” -but the killing and maiming of thousands in Iraq raises no moral questions or soul-searching.

It all seems like such a misplaced set of priorities to me.

Why is McCain’s behavior not getting attention?

He cheated and actually left his compromised wife, injured in an auto accident and children for a trophy one of wealth. He has publicly called this one a c*nt and recently offered her for a topless contest… buffalo chip contest.

I agree with Ralph…Edwards , by his infidelity and lack of Candor , ran the risk of derailing the Progressive efforts of millions of Americans.

I’m still mad at Bill Clinton, although I think he was a pretty good president. His “Weakness” gave us Bush, and just about destroyed this country.

I don’t agree that it’s “not a lie”, but I absolutely agree that it’s a private matter. Except that as a candidate, it was an absolute death sentence should it get out.

Edwards had no business running for the nomination and asking for the trust of the nation with that kind of baggage just begging to be uncovered and exploited.

And can you imagine if Edwards had been elected, and the child turned out to be his?

It would have made Clinton’s affairs look like a grade school romance. Democrats would have been stained for a generation. I know, that kind of “scandal” doesn’t mean much to thinking people, aside from trust issues, but it means a HUGE deal to LIVs, especially Christianists.

As I recall, the Funeral of the French Prime Minister (Mitterand I think) was attended by his wife, his mistress, and his out of wedlock child.

Edwards was running for a political position, not for Pope.

Politicians are not moral leaders -as if Bush hasn’t proved this point time and again.

Case in point: The Bush administration has made torture a matter of policy, stopping short of making it openly legal.

I find a little despairing that so much ink can go into “exposing” Edwards infidelity and so comparatively little into the latest revelations of the Bush administration’s many crimes. Maybe the American public wants to be lied to, after all…

If John Edwards ‘lands’ a spot in Obama’s administration, then I won’t vote for Obama a second time.

And just to keep the record straight: Edwards affair was current as little as three (3) weeks ago.

Thank you (sarcasm) John Edwards for perhaps helping us to lose in November.

Lose our election because of Edwards’ behavior… to what the behavior of the goppers? Edwards’ behavior does not look good, but still there is no comparison.

He not only didn’t do that, he also LIED when he was asked about it. That’s what I find unforgivable. That and the fact that they jeopardized the Democratic party by running with that kind of a skeleton in the closet.

I’ll tell you who I feel sorry for. All the people who worked so long and hard for Edwards campaign. He lied to them repeatedly and they believed him. They all feel betrayed and like they are a bunch of fools. But, even then, they still stand up for him by saying that he made a mistake but that doesn’t do away with all the good he has done.

I’m not so sure about that. She’s going to have a hard time answering questions about why she supported her husband running for President with this 500 pound gorilla in their closet. Did she (or Edwards) think that no one would ever find out. Did she give any thought to how bad it would be when this came out if Edwards was the Democratic nominee?

Personally I think that both the Edwards allowed their egos to get in the way of common sense and put this country in serious peril. If Edwards was the Democratic candidate today, it would be all over. We would have another 4 years of Republican rule. And all this despite the fact that John McCain is guilty of the same thing, and even worse, he left his wife for a bimbo.

She will ilkely emerge from this with more public credibility and stature.

About John Edwards… his behavior did not

* kill hundreds of thousands

* rob our treasury – transfer of wealth to the wealthy

* destroy the middle class

* add to out nation’s debt, sell off our land/icons

* create a loss of more jobs

* create a declining health care system

As far as I am concerned the above conditions out weigh Edwards personal behavior, a bad behavior that should only be the business of his family.
