Is John McCain in the pocket of oil companies? Is John McCain in the pocket of insurance companies? Is john McCain in the pocket of pharmaceutical companies? What countries is john McCain in the pocket of? Here is a list of lobbyists and employees of major companies working in major positions in the McCain campaign. It will answer any questions you might have about the people who are advising and influencing him.

Just an observation regarding "Freedom Fries" that I never hear anyone bring up.

It's a variation on "Liberty Cabbage", which became the popular replacement name for "Sauerkraut" during WWII.

It always struck me... not only that they stole the idea of renaming a food based upon "patriotism" in a time of war as if it were an original idea... but that it was yet another example of Republicans trying to conflate the Iraq war with WWII & Germany.

<i>sacopenapa Says:

Murder only???!!!!! Bush and his JUNTA should be held accountable for the crime of starting two WARs of Agression, the ultimate internatinal crime. If the Nuremberg Tribunal principals were to be used (and they Should!), these WAR CRIMINALS should be hanged!!! They are responsible for the deaths of two million iraqui civilians and god know how many afegahns! Bush senior should also be held accountable for the invasion of Panama! HAGUE 2009!

______

Bugliosi explains in the book why Bush can't legally be tried for war crimes - I forget the exact legal reason at the moment. However, he makes a compelling case as to why Bush and the others who knowingly lied to push the country to war can be tried for murder.

All it will take is one county or state prosecutor in a jurisdiction from which a service member was killed in Iraq, one grieving family willing to punish the man responsible for the death of their son or daughter. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell, and Rice could be put on trial for the murder of that service member.

It may seem anticlimactic to prosecute a mass murderer on just one count, the way it was anticlimactic to prosecute Al Capone for tax evasion. But a conviction is a conviction. Whatever it takes to put these people behind bars is fine by me.

Slightly OT...

Please email this to every progressive you know!
http://kucinich.us/

Rep. Dennis Kucinich's homepage. Here's the letter he recently sent out.
Please read and go to the link above to sign the petition!

September 10th: The day before our world changed,
a day to change the world!
Dear Friends,
On August 1st, I delivered to Speaker Nancy Pelosi; a petition bearing the
names of over 100,000 Americans that, like us, feel that the President
must be held accountable for abusing executive power and disregarding his
Constitutional obligations.

Your voices have been heard and your support continues to send a powerful
message to lawmakers. That is why I call on you again to help us in a new
effort to deliver 1 Million signatures to Speaker Pelosi on September 10,
2008.

Together we can:
•Urge real Congressional action to hold President Bush accountable now
•Reinstate the authority of our Constitution
•Document crimes committed by President Bush for historical account
•Facilitate post-Administration law enforcement and prosecution
•Reset the standard for the incoming and future administrations
•Demand justice for the over 3,000 who died on 9/11and whose deaths were
tragically exploited to take us into an illegal war in Iraq
•Demand justice for the estimated 30,324 U.S. military personnel who have
been injured/wounded
•Demand justice for the estimated 4,138 U.S. military personnel who have
been killed or died
•Demand justice for the 1 Million innocent Iraqis who have died*
•Avert another illegitimate looming war – this time against Iran

We need your active participation to deliver 1 Million signatures to
Congress by September 10, 2008.
Please give at least ten of your friends the opportunity to stand up for
our country - the way you and I have, by inviting them to sign the
impeachment petition online at http://www.Kucinich.us. Send your friends
an email invitation to sign the petition by clicking here.

Together we can make September 10, the day before the world changed, a day
we change the world!

Thank you for your active and ongoing citizenship.

Dennis Kucinich

Suskind says that Dearlove (British intelligence) said Bush basically turned over the powers of the presidency to Cheney. Not that there was any difference between the two in what they wanted, but Cheney did not have to go through Bush---even for something like forging intelligence.

Cong. Conyers is heading an investigation into the forgery linking Atta to Iraq. Suskind has been on 'Democracy Now' Wed and Thur. The forgery comes from "The White House'. Speculation is it was Cheney.

To be accurate, Congressman Jones did not coin the term 'freedom fries'. It was coined by the owner of a small chain of restaurants in Jones' district. I used to live there, and imagine my horror when I moved to France and the only way people knew my former hometown was that it was where 'freedom fries' started. Sigh.

Spying without a warrant to such an extent that our legislators feel compelled to write laws inorder to cover the law breakers spying on millions of Americans private lives emails , telephone calls and reading habits !
No accountability whatsoever and officially sanctioned by the very elected representatives that are sworn to uphold our constitutional rights against all enemies "foreign and domestic".
Of course Harry Reid was against the bill although he previously tried to get practically the same bill through the senate himself as it was going into recess with the big names out campaigning away from Washington and was well aware that the bill he was supposedly against would pass .However, his new stand would offer the democratic leadership political cover.

<em>The congressman, according to Bugliosi, replied, "It's better that my name not come out at this point. But I promise you that after the election I'll be standing there by your side."</em>

"Yeah, I'll be standing there by your side, <em>after</em> I'm reelected. My constituents are a bunch of rubes, and after I get their votes, I'll turn around, and support something they would never have approved.

A real profile in political courage.

My dad actually bought on to the "freedom fries" thing. So embarrassing. And not because we disagree on every last thing politically, but because the idea was just so moronic on any level. It'd be stupid regardless of the reason.

I sit here wondering where he even gets this news from. I've never saw him watch news programs or really read the paper. I suppose it just gets funneled down through random people he knows.

Oh well.

It's pretty bad when someone from your own party wants to try you for murder. It's even worse when the opposition party gives you a free pass.
