Phil Gramm returns to McCain’s side.

Phil Gramm returns to McCain’s side.

Phil Gramm, who stepped down from the McCain campaign after revealing that he believed America had become a “nation of whiners,” is “back with the campaign’s top advisers this weekend.” Gramm was seated in the front row during a McCain event in Aspen, Colorado today. “I am a supporter of John McCain,” said Gramm. “I am helping him with fundraising. We have a fundraiser today and I will be with him today and tomorrow.” Gramm has been rumored to be a possible candidate for Treasury Secretary if McCain wins.

Digg It!

Update At dinner in Aspen last night, McCain personally praised Gramm, saying "Phil Gramm and I and Wendy (Gramm) and Cindy and I go back many, many years, and I’m always grateful to see my friend, Phil Gramm. Thank you, Phil, for all your friendship and support.”

Of course McCain is out front calling for Gramm’s UBS tax cheating clients to be prosecuted. It might turn out like all those stock option backdating executives.

White collar crime is low risk as Bush and Republicans guard their base. McCain wants to carry that same mantle, evidenced by Gramm’s close association.

  2. McWars says:

    3 easy steps:

    1) Dig the hole a little deeper.

    2) Drop in the McCain campaign.

    3) Mix several bags of concrete, pour into large crater until filled.

just what this country needs, someone in charge of the treasury during a depression that he fails to acknowlege is going on. woo-hoo, turn the printing presses on full bore, boys, we got some printing to do!

Wonderful. A McCain loser who may work for the treasury, but thinks all Americans are whiners. Anyone who isn’t filthy rich– remember this guy hates you all! And the treasury??? Even more opportunity for this Repub elitist to manipulate your lack of income. Truly frightening. A rich elitist who cares nothing about ordinary Americans, in charge of the treasury. But an obvious choice for McCain, with his how many houses- 12? – his private jet? – his millionaire adulterer spouse? How is McCain even in the running?

The financial deregulator Phil Gramm? The Phil Gramm that helped create the sub-prime mortgage mess by deregulating federal controls of mortgage lending? The Phil Gramm, who created the Enron loophole that allowed unregulated electronic oil futures market speculation, which has resulted in the doubling of the price of gasoline in the past year? That Phil Gramm?

O/T: On Thursday, 14 August 2008, Fox News showed a clip of two of their newsmen that were reporting live from the Republic of Georgia running for their lives from some Georgian army members that were firing pistol shots at them. They ran for their lives (very fast). Those two guys got a very tiny taste of the terror experienced by South Ossetians in the massive Georgian military assault that began a week ago. See the Russia Today website at http://www.russiatoday.com for more details on the atrocities perpetrated by the Georgian military against the residents of South Ossetia.

Run your mouth off Phil!! Keep talking moron!!!

You help the Democrats register new voters everyday you just show the phuck up to be useless again!!!!

The USA does not need Phil Graham(cracker) or his opinions!!

  14. pete says:

I wouldn’t say that this is a big shock. At this point it appears that the GOP, even while McSpin tries to pander to everybody, is just concerned with keeping the hardcore 20%ers in the fold through this fall’s debacle. It’s just damage control. Soon it will begin to include more “stalwarts” of the Reich in “advisory positions”.

Which is especially ironic because McSpin appears to be unable to stay “on message” for more than a sentence or two. God Himself could advise Flippy and he would still sound like an idiot every time he goes off script.

  15. Daddy-O says:

Phil Gramm? Who called Americans whiners for not appreciating the Bush Economic Miracle? Who was ‘fired’ for that remark? That Phil Gramm?

Now he’s back by McCain’s side? No one could have predicted THAT flip-flop. Among the dozens and dozens so far by McAncient.

  16. Daddy-O says:

I’m so old, I remember a silly little late-’60s Disney movie called “Who’s Minding The Mint?”

Seems we have a remake on our hands here.

  17. pete says:

    Kinda off topic:

Local radio is reporting that, if food and energy are included, inflation has run between 16% and 19% since Katrina.

Isn’t Phil one of the guys who redefined the “core inflation rate” to exclude “volatile” costs?

  18. pete says:

    Meanwhile…

Flippy McSpin says: “My friends. I’d like you to welcome back my wisecracking friend Phil. Any friend of mine is a friend of yours”.

  19. Marie says:

Time and time again, McCain shows his true colors — he will say anything, do anything if it could be politically expedient for him — from Gramm to Falwell to Bush and everyone in between — he is not to be believed. He has no integrity.

  20. Imichael says:

I am tired of these old muther fu*kers running this country. Can they please just die. Is a wooden stake needed?

  21. tarazan says:

Electing or appointing the same old politicians that have been in Washington for so many years and made career out of politics is not what America needs now.
The country is not in good shape as a result of these politicians services.
In simple English, the American Taxpayer return on dollars collected from him or her is very low because of these people.
McCain,Gramm,Lieberman they all have been in Washington for so many years, they all even ran to be presidents ..they are what America should stay away from these days.

  22. LibertyLover says:

Well, that didn’t take too long… and people say that McCain isn’t like a repeat of Bush. Haven’t we had enough of the non-accountability of this current administration, where these vampires are just recycled over and over again?

  23. ForTruth says:

Grammy never left. It was just a show to divert attention as he quietly returned to work.

  24. A Patriot Acting says:

I guess McCan’t figured nobody would notice if Gramm slithers back quietly. Gramm should at least be required to change his name whenever this kind of thing happens like the ever-returning trolls around here. Some people just can’t take a hint that they are not wanted.

  25. nigeldh says:

As I e-mailed the Editors of the Spectator on 8/8/8 (their lucky day??)
Ben Stein says “And we especially don’t like being told how to vote by porn stars. If this is the best the Hollywood pals of Barack Obama can do, maybe John McCain has more of a shot than I thought he did.”

Then why do Republicans continue to allow a porn producer like former Senator Phil Gramm to tell them how to vote?

Jul 15, 2008 … Phil Gramm attempted to invest $15000 in “Truck Stop Women. … Like the rest of Gramm’s endeavors, his soft-core porn career was a complete …

  26. MapleStreet says:

Well, we’ve seen how McCain handles a moral crisis – just hide it for a few months till everyone forgets.

  27. ChingarraSan says:

Phil Gramm! Back by McLame’s side? Why isn’t this crooked scum bag being investigated? In fact, why isn’t McLame being investigated for his part in the Keating 5 scandal, and being surrounded by crooked lobbyists who run his campaign? Some system of justice we have in Amerika!
