Dan Bartlett, former Counselor to President Bush, “has joined CBS News as a political analyst,” TVNewser reports. Bartlett is expected to “provide on-air analysis on a variety of political issues, ‘including at the Democratic and Republican National Conventions and beyond.’” Bartlett — dubbed “Danny Boy” or “Dan the Man” by Bush — has spent “virtually his entire career working for Bush.” Last fall, he joined the influential PR firm, Public Strategies Inc. Explaining his departure from the Bush administration, he said, “I’ve had competing families. And, unfortunately, the Bush family has prevailed too many times, and it’s high time for the Bartlett family to prevail.”
“I’ve had competing families. And, unfortunately, the Bush family has prevailed too many times, and it’s high time for the Bartlett family to prevail.”
Translation: I want the War Crimes Tribunals to go easy on me.
August 18th, 2008 at 2:47 pmIf CBS wanted to hire a Bush ball licker, I’m sure Jeff Gannon is available.
August 18th, 2008 at 2:52 pmAnother nail in the lie of a liberal, or even a mainstream press.
August 18th, 2008 at 2:52 pmgood_golly2 Says:
It’s about time the Central Barack System started hiring people who aren’t cheerleaders for the ObamaNation.
Why do you support McCain?
August 18th, 2008 at 2:53 pmI sense something different going on. The Bush administration has been sending out its minions into safe and secure sinecures within the media. This accomplishes two goals: (1) Provides an economic award to those who have sold their soul to the Republican party; (2) Further infiltrates the media to battle the Democrats during the current election cycle and provide a long term fifth column within media.
Yes, there is a vast right wing conspiracy. They never hid it, they never denied it and if you look at enough Republican material, you will realize that this has been part of a well constructed plan to create a one party state.
August 18th, 2008 at 2:54 pmHey Gi-Gi,
They already have one of the most pro-Dubya Talking Head already on CBS; Katie ‘edit the McDepends interview’ Couric. I am sure you find her quite appealing, right?
August 18th, 2008 at 2:57 pmJust one more reason not to watch CBS.
August 18th, 2008 at 2:58 pmjb, CBS wouldn’t want somebody, like Gannon, who isn’t plug into corporate America like Danny Boy will be with Public Strategies. From their website:
“Public Strategies has helped many corporations involved in high-profile crises successfully weather the storm and better prepare for the possibility of future turbulence. From the ‘war room’ to the public hearing room, the courtroom and America’s living rooms, Public Strategies is many corporations’ first phone call for crisis response.”
August 18th, 2008 at 2:58 pmCBS is wasting both their money and what’s left of their reputation for journalism with this move. Because Bartlett has spent “virtually his entire career working for Bush,” nothing he says about politics can be considered valid or reliable. It’s not like he even worked for someone with a good reputation. What is wrong with CBS?
August 18th, 2008 at 3:03 pmBlow me GG.
August 18th, 2008 at 3:04 pmI’m sure these GOP thugs are more than willing to “plug into” corporate interests. Sick bunch of traitors that hate us for our freedoms.
August 18th, 2008 at 3:04 pmBartlett — dubbed “Danny Boy” or “Dan the Man” by Bush — has spent “virtually his entire career working for Bush.”
So I guess CBS has abandoned even trying to appear objective.

August 18th, 2008 at 3:09 pmGigi’s right. That was a disgrace the way CBS edited that gaffe out of an Obama interview…
…what?…
that was a McSame interview that they edited to make him look less ridiculous?
But why would the librul media do that? It doesn’t make sense.
August 18th, 2008 at 3:09 pmFull coverage is needed to get the puke into the whitehouse, so a short stint at cbs with high levels of pay will keep dan up late nights to spin a few webs while the machine rests for the next day’s garbage to go out over the people’s air waves.
August 18th, 2008 at 3:10 pm.
Because nothing says a free exchange of ideas like hiring NEOCLOWNS.
Because you can’t have an open media without a staff filled with NEOCLOWNS.
Because the Fourth Estate isn’t complete without full employment by the Fourth Reich.
.
August 18th, 2008 at 3:12 pmOn the plus side, with Bush-folk joining the print and television media, neocons can no longer lament the “librul media” bias.
Then again, they haven’t let the reality of the past two decades stop them from that mantra.
Guess when Obama wins, the neocons will have their mouthpieces already in place.
August 18th, 2008 at 3:13 pmIs there no end to this right wing welfare? Can’t any of these people do real work?
No wonder the free press is dead. It is bought and paid for.
August 18th, 2008 at 3:16 pmCBS = Cocks?cking Bush Sychophants
August 18th, 2008 at 3:24 pmI stopped watching CBS when Couric appeared.
August 18th, 2008 at 3:27 pmLooks like I have a very good reason to never return to CBS.
Why does the liberal biased news media keep hiring so many right-wing Republican neocons?
August 18th, 2008 at 3:39 pmSince he’s a supporter of the Iraq war and under the recruitment ceiling, I’m surprised that Mr. Bartlett didn’t enlist.
August 18th, 2008 at 3:40 pmCBS is making a huge gaffe hiring someone who advised a 20 something percent approval rating preznit.
August 18th, 2008 at 3:40 pmMaybe if Dan stuck to commenting on pears he’d add to the conversation.
One small correction, TP:
“And, unfortunately, the Bush CRIME Family has prevailed too many times, and it’s high time for the Bartlett family to prevail.”
There… all better!!!
August 18th, 2008 at 4:20 pmI guess they are front loading to go hunting for bear if Obama gets in.
August 18th, 2008 at 4:28 pmHey TP,
How come you can use the word ‘a nalyst’ in your headline but we can’t in any of our posts? PULEEZE fix this ridiculous edit, K?
August 18th, 2008 at 4:42 pmMore proof the MSM is in the pockets of the Bush Crime Family. I don’t watch freaking lying b@stards, especially those who scrubbed W’s miltary records.
August 18th, 2008 at 4:46 pmIt’ll be great for the Constant Bull Shiters to hear the click of stations being changed or shut off. It has been an easy thing to shut them down on Facade of the Nation.
August 18th, 2008 at 4:51 pmupside, it IS ridiculous, but I’ve found that getting around it is pretty easy if you just spell it “anlyst”.
It looks close enough so that a reader wouldn’t stumble over it, and it doesn’t set off the motion detectors.
August 18th, 2008 at 4:54 pmThe White House revolving door has allowed another toady to get a job in the media thereby allowing propaganda to proliferate.
August 18th, 2008 at 5:17 pmRove, Bartlett : I guess all the rats that jumped ship become paid pundits purveying BushCo. Propaganda…
yuck.
August 18th, 2008 at 5:40 pmCBS : Certified Bullsh_t Network.
August 18th, 2008 at 5:42 pmoops:
August 18th, 2008 at 5:43 pmI meant Certified Bullsh_t Station…
Correction: Unemployment is rising.
August 18th, 2008 at 7:43 pmThese guys should be in prison, not the clownon these game shows.
As if we hadn’t seen enough of them?
