Actually, the people doing the survey made sure they had equal representation of conservatives to liberals as follows:

The nonscientific survey was administered online from April 21 to May 22, 2008. In the survey, respondents were asked to self-identify their ideological bias from choices across a spectrum: very conservative, conservative, somewhat conservative, moderate, somewhat liberal, liberal, and very liberal. Thirty-four people identified themselves as some level of conservative, 39 identified as moderate, and 44 identified as some level of liberal. In order to ensure balance, the survey was weighted according to ideology to make the number of weighted liberal respondents equal to the number of conservative respondents. Moderate and conservative respondents remained unweighted.

So, it’s looking like some conservative foreign policy experts are on-board with “let’s get the hell out of there”.

As I recall the stiffest resistance to the bushco disaster was the State Dept. There a number of resignations, and academic foreign policy types were at the forefront of vocal opposition.

Which we mostly learned about, as revelations in a book like Woodward’s, or other, insider tell-alls.

Not many profiles in courage, in that crowd.

It would still be informative to know which of these 69′ers initially endorsed invasion.

It’s why modern Republican presidents have ignored and distrusted the State Department: Too full of well educated intellectuals who know what they’re doing.
