OK guys, I don't like Fox, and I'm not voting for McCain. I'm middle of the road. I don't see the issue here. This Fox video says that he fought the bill and says why. McCain has a history of saying no to various increases in funding that would help military personnel. I know this because I'm military and a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association. However, I don't really blame him. He clearly tries to keep costs down.
Personally, I'm happy enough with what I'm making currently, the raises for inflation have given me what I needed. I'm one of the members of AFSA who thinks sometimes you should stop asking for more. When stuff goes wrong with my airmen's dorms, etc, I can run fund raisers to help them out, or get Civil Engineering's help with repairs. We don't always need more financially.
I can say that the 100% tuition assistance has been the biggest reason for gaining the best people we've gotten. McCain's logic here makes sense. Sometimes the people who come in do so only for the education benefits. The first term airmen are most effective toward the end of their term because of all the training they have to get. The end of the second term and the first half of the second are probably the most productive times for a career airman. If we get an influx of people who come in only for the GI Bill, then leave, you've just added a huge expense in both first term training and in longer term education, without giving the branch itself a fair trade, reducing the effectiveness of the money spent.
Now, if you want to make the military a driving force for the country in getting people education, it makes sense. However, the Veteran Administration (VA) is vastly underfunded, and actually getting the benefits is like pulling teeth, or worse. I've done that too. I had to write my congressman because they had turned their national phone line off and claims were backed up five months and counting. If the bill does not specifically add money to the VA's budget, then the bill was a BAD idea.

Pray for yourself. Pray for some braincells you moron. It is fair though you disgust me with virtually every post. To call you a moron is an insult to morons everywhere. What was said was TRUE. Being a war hero does not exempt anyone for having the TRUTH told about them. Veterans groups saw the McCain amendment as what it was a poison pill. Pray for the ability to perform higher brain function fool then you can think for yourself. You are not just disgusting but as ignorant as any carbon based bipedal lifeform in existance. You are one of the three organic creatures that would INCREASE your IQ by filling your head with rocks

I just saw it today and realized that if the situation would be reversed, that video would be viral by now. So I am just trying to post in on a few liberal blogs hoping it helps it to catch on.

TP, there you go supporting the criticism of a war hero. Sometimes, you guys disgust me. I will pray for you.
___________________________________________________________

Are you suggesting that once someone has been branded a "war hero", this entitles him to immunity from criticism for life? On any issue? Including issues having absolutely nothing to do with the war they were "heroic" in? If so, you are granting McCain license to lie, to pander, to do favors for lobbyists representing rich special interests as the expense of ordinary Americans, to cheat on his wife, and basically do anything he wants without fear of criticism for it.

OK, fine. Let's pretend that McCain's military experience entitles him to this. Now, in order to be consistent, you would also defend John Kerry (the presidential candidate, not the troll), Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, Max Cleland, Tammy Duckworth, and all others who have worn a uniform and served our country from criticism. Right?

This is coming from a guy who suports a party that MOCKED those of us who had the nerve to get Purple Hearts and not only LIVE, but havr the audacity to have all of our limbs intact. Yes I am speaking on the Repuppetcan Convention of 2004. I still get irate when I think of those Purple Heart Band-Aids being worn by the most chicken hearted of all human species, Repuppetcans. I have served with many who were awarded (I have two) this award and by looking at us you could never tell, but its the point that WE were in a situation to be even more seriously hurt or worst that pisses me the hell off. What you (daryll and your fellow Repuppetcans) did to Kerry (wuss), Max Cleland, Tammy Duckworth, and ALL of US who have been in harms way in the support of a LIE of a war, was/is despicable and shows your real support of THE TROOPS (whoever the hell that is).

So what that John McCain WAS a POW,if that were a qualification for POTUS then Lynch/Johnson 2012 would be a winning ticket (look the names up yourself and dont look on FOX they dont do news) he is now a dishonorable man that at one time wore an honorable uniform. Did you know that the military is full of murderers, rapist, child/spouse abusers, alchohol/drug users, thieves, embezzlers, in other words criminals that to keep talking about John McCains prior service means NOTHING to how he would govern NOW.

This man OPPOSED the new G.I. Bill period, end of story. The fact that he WAS a POW is irrelevant.

Marie,

Thanks for posting that YouTube clip. I am a member of the VVAMcCain and am glad to see others are starting to watch that.

You will notice that almost all the politicians on there were REPUBLICANS! They volunteered to be on this, a very telling point, indeed!

"Duke" Cunningham is 1,000 times more a "hero" than Mcpin can even imagine. "Duke" is in prison. So, it would appear, military service doesn't preclude one from committing crimes. Tell me. Why does McSpin's service give him a pass on anything?

<em>Daryll Says:

TP, there you go supporting the criticism of a war hero. Sometimes, you guys disgust me. I will pray for you.</em>

You will pray for what? I have come to the conclusion even you have to know faux news spews crap so your guy, the guy you think will save the babies, will win.

The <em>'end justifies the means'</em> to the frenzied right and corporatist criminals... but for you to pray for the 'means' is weird and hypocritical.

Hey Daryll-Your nomine, "war hero" John McCain is a devisive, lying coniving dishonest pile of Satan turd who would have done a greater service to this Country by staying strapped into the cockpit of one of the planes that he rammed into the ground! If you think that what I said is unpatriotic you can go suck Dick Cheney's nutsack!

When a self-professed "hero" sells out his honor for a crack at power? You're damn right I'll criticize.

Flippy McSpin is a disgrace to every real hero who's ever honorably worn the uniform of our country.

Daryll Says:
"TP, there you go supporting the criticism of a war hero."

You're so cute in your ignorance, Daryll. So let me get this straight. You blindly support and defend John McCain soley due to the fact that he crashed his plane and was taken prisoner over 35 years ago? Despite the fact that the lie, cheat and flip-flop at all costs McCain in 2008 is miles apart from the maverick McCain of even 2000? I'm curious as to what justifies your blind support for a President and Vice President who were "too busy" or too high to be bothered suiting up for combat during the war in Vietnam? One served, two did not. All three are lying pieces of the same Republican shit pile. And don't bother praying for me you sicophantic hypocrite. Your kind of religion, the kind that justifies lying, corruption and murder in the name of political gain has no place in honest discourse.
