Today on his radio show, conservative talker Rush Limbaugh addressed the recently raised possibility that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) could choose a pro-choice running mate. Limbaugh argued forcefully against the prospect, calling it “crap” and likening it to “committing suicide.” If McCain picks a pro-choice running mate, Limbaugh said, he “will have effectively destroyed the Republican party“:
LIMBAUGH: If he picks a pro-choice running mate, it’s not going to be pretty. [...]
How about some discussion from the McCain about a conservative that can be counted on across the board, who can help lead the country in the right direction, who can help rebuild the Republican party? This is crap, what is this about picking a liberal Democrat of a liberal Republican? [...]
Particularly pro-choice. If he does that. If the McCain camp does that, they will have effectively destroyed the Republican party and put the conservative movement in the bleachers. … We’re committing suicide in the midst of two events that could launch this party to sweeping victory in November. … One wrong selection as vice president can wipe all that out.
Listen here:
Regardless of who McCain picks, there is little doubt that his administration would be hostile to women’s rights. McCain recently declared that Roe v. Wade “should be overturned” and professes a desire to end “abortion at the state level” on his campaign website.
But McCain goes further than just attempting to deny women choice. He has “never cosponsored or supported legislation that would prevent unintended pregnancy or reduce the need for abortion.” He opposes government-funded condom distribution and voted to prohibit federally funded family-planning clinics from providing women with access to full information about their reproductive-health options. Instead, McCain is a strong supporter of abstinence-only education.
McCain and Limbaugh — while in agreement with each other — could not be further from the American people on women’s right to choose. Indeed, a recent Quinnipiac University poll found that 63 percent of Americans agree with the ruling in Roe v. Wade and just 14 percent of Americans believe that abortion should “always be illegal.”
.
... Because we all know in America, "CHOICE" is not an option.
.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:04 pmnothing would be better for the republican party at this point than moving towards the left. that is, if they want to win.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:05 pmMcDepends better listen to this high school graduate. He is the smartest guy in the room.
Heh Heh
August 19th, 2008 at 3:07 pmIf McCain picks a pro-choice running mate, Limbaugh said, he “will have effectively destroyed the Republican party“
I usually don't stick up for McStain (okay, never, actually) but I think that BushCo, Limpballs et al did that long before McStain stepped into the limelight.
PEACE
August 19th, 2008 at 3:09 pmI agree with Rush that McCain won't name anybody to be his running mate unless they are fervently anti-abortion, but then our views diverge. He considers it to be political "suicide" if he chooses a pro-choice candidate, and I just think McCain will move heaven and earth to pander to the evangelical right.
What appears to be lost on McCain is that he is expending all his energy going after a small segment of the voters, and in doing so he's alienating everybody else.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:10 pmBTW,
Did TP Photoshop that pic of the rusher? That is the biggest and ugliest head I have seen, this side of a Ripley's Believe it or Not museum.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:10 pmI wonder how many abortions Limbaugh had paid for?
August 19th, 2008 at 3:11 pmLimbaugh Calls Possibility Of Pro-Choice McCain Running Mate ‘Crap,’ Likens It To ‘Committing Suicide’
Promise????
(Please note: The above question was tongue in cheek. Before any of the antagonist trolls start sporting chub and declaring this is proof positive that liberals want harm done, I was joking. Get over it!)
August 19th, 2008 at 3:12 pmOh, D A R Y L L!!
We have a pro-choice/pro-life thread here.
Wanna come out and play?
August 19th, 2008 at 3:15 pma CONSERVATIVE that can be counted on across the board, who can help lead the country in the RIGHT direction....
....WHOA there, pervert druggy tard, the right can be counted to lead the country in the wrong direction, like they have for the last 7.5 years.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:18 pmThat is the biggest and ugliest head I have seen
Yeppers. And that is one half of his brain tied behind his back. Just imagine how big that noggin would be if Limpball's whole brain had to fit in it.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:18 pmforget Daryll. Can someone conjure up the partially consumed sandwich on this one?
August 19th, 2008 at 3:22 pmToo bad Drubaugh wouldn't make this planet a better place by committing suicide.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:24 pmJebus. Freaking medieval morons.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:26 pmSkrew you, goony. When you can get pregnant, then you can decide. Until then, STFU.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:28 pmAre we gonna go back to this fantasy about woman having recreational abortions? Get a clue by golly.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:29 pmOh dear gawd!
August 19th, 2008 at 3:29 pmWe try to conjure up Parodyll, and instead, we get good_goony3.0, spouting off the same $hit.
Been answered on previous threads.
Answered multiple times, I might add.
Unfortunately, she thinks she has a "gotcha" topic.
I think she needs to up her meds.

August 19th, 2008 at 3:33 pmHELLO,
August 19th, 2008 at 3:33 pmThe Bu$h administration is trying to redefine abortion to include birth control ! Seriously , no kidding .Totally and unbelievably TRUE !
"If McCain picks a pro-choice running mate, Limbaugh said, he “will have effectively destroyed the Republican party""
And here I thought Pres. Bush and the ultra-radical, right-whining neo-con's did that between 2000 & 2006!
August 19th, 2008 at 3:35 pmSlightly off topic, but what the hell.
If good_goony3.0 can do it, so can I.
Read what Cafferty has to say about McCain.
Feel free to archive it later.
McSame.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:35 pmMcSame, indeed.
The Bu$h administration is trying to redefine abortion to include birth control ! Seriously , no kidding .Totally and unbelievably TRUE !
Friendly amendment -- it is totally true but it is not unbelievably true.
There, does that fix that?
August 19th, 2008 at 3:36 pmIt really would be a shame for McCain to choose a pro-choice running mate. Regardless of where you stand on this issue, the pro-life folks out there deserve a voice and a party that represents their views on the issue.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:37 pmIs that wire coming out of Limpdick's head a KKKarl hotline?
Perhaps a self injecting catheter of Oxycontin?
Caribbean Boys radio for Right Wing Wacko's?
August 19th, 2008 at 3:39 pmAmerica would be committing suicide by electing McConehead.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:40 pmThan they should start a party dedicated to their single issue. When you only have two major parties it is not the job of either to cater to a few zealots who want to act as if their issue is the only one.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:40 pmIs it safe to assume that gone_goofy has been reincarnated as indyjones?
As long as the "pro-life" folks are pro-war and against caring for people in need they are not pro-life. They are just hypocritical loons.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:45 pmNo matter where you stand on the issue, the pro-fascist folks out there deserve a vooice and a party that represents their views on the issue... oh, that's right -- they have one. The Republican Party.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:46 pmYO! Limbaugh!
You've done a pretty damn good job of effectively destroying the Republican party with your hate filled drivel day in and day out.
People are sick of you. Take a long hike in a bear infested woods.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:47 pmJohn McCain '08
August 19th, 2008 at 3:48 pmFinish her off!
Is that wire coming out of Limpdick’s head a KKKarl hotline?
That's the wiring for his cochlear implant . . . seriously.
You know. The one that he had to have put in to compensate for the hearing loss he suffered as a result of his oxycontin addiction.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:49 pmSIgn move on's petion to keep birth control seperate from abortion .

Like they've been denied a place at the table, these past eight years. Yes, their views should be recognized, and given their proper weight in the political debate. No, they should not be followed by those who believe in a woman's right to choose.

Thanks, Tom. I didn't know he had to have his coch implanted, too. Was that because of a Viagra overdose?
August 19th, 2008 at 3:52 pmThis is pure posturing on McCain's part. He can look like he's seriously considering a pro-choice candidate, even though he isn't, so he can continue to appear moderate, which he isn't.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:52 pmDRxJ @#21
August 19th, 2008 at 3:52 pmMan, that's refreshing to hear/read/contemplate/spread/viral/yes.
Christ, Daryll I thought Huckabee was gonna be VP and then the big cheese was gonna off McCain. What gives?
August 19th, 2008 at 3:54 pmHe can pluck a bass like it’s nothing
darryl, is that plucking a bass anything like "screwing the pooch" or "gutting the trout"?
Please tell me. I really need to know. If you don't have an answer, could you please ask your "other brother, darryl" to get back to me on this?
Thanks, cupcake!
August 19th, 2008 at 3:58 pmIs it like "shaking the devil off"?
August 19th, 2008 at 3:59 pmOh, yes, and by the way -- is "daryll short for diarrheal, daryll?
Yup, I thought so!
August 19th, 2008 at 4:01 pmBut Daryll... I thought it was "President-elect Huckabee"?
If we can't trust your interpretation of what Jesus told you about the presidential race, why should we trust anything else you say regarding the Prince of Peace?
August 19th, 2008 at 4:02 pmI actually have to agree with Lush. The only way the GOP will remain a viable party is by locking up the hardcore 20%ers.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:03 pmIf Huckabee can pluck a bass like nothing, certainly Rush can pick his ass like everything.
Did Huckabee pluck Rush's ass cyst, Daryll?
August 19th, 2008 at 4:03 pmI get hopeful anytime I see "Rush" and "suicide" in a headline.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:04 pmHey Daryll,
Why not let the rusher be VP? He speaks your language. I think he would be a great choice, don't you?
He is such a christian and all, never had any trouble with drugs or women or any such thing, and has only been married and divorced 3 times.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:05 pmSo when Jesus told you Gov. Huckabee was ordained to be President-elect", Jeus was just messin' with your head?
And now, because you have "emailed Rick Davis and the McCain campaign numerous times on Governor Huckabee", this leads you to believe that he sold of making the Governor the VP?
I don't even know what that last sentence means.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:05 pmI couldn't disagree more with the Oxycotin head jackass. Tom Ridge will be McCain's choice, pro choice or not. What is Dobson going to do- vote for Obama? It is agianst every rascist bone in his body.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:06 pmI am pretty sure they just delete D's emails. I do the same with stuff I get from people I don't know and could care less about...
August 19th, 2008 at 4:06 pmSince when are Ohio and Michigan bible belt states, you dolt?
August 19th, 2008 at 4:07 pmParadyll says:
I have emailed Rick Davis and the McCain campaign numerous times on Governor Huckabee so I believe he sold of making the Governor the VP.
But, but, but you said "God" told you Huckabee would be president-elect. Did God lie to you Daryll or did you lie?
August 19th, 2008 at 4:07 pmDoes Jesus have email? Maybe Daryll could relay his message through his friend Jesus. Although if Jesus only has a Gmail account, it could look suspicious and they'd probably still delete it.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:08 pmBullsh*t, you liar. I grew up in Michigan and travel back there 3 times a year. Michigan is NOT a bible state. Fact.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:15 pmThat's fair enough, Daryll.
Now it's been established that your interpretation of his word (and BTW, shouldn't that be His Word?) is imperfect.
So what makes you so damn sure you've got all the rest of it right, to the point that you can lecture all of us "sinful libs" on our values?
I'm just curious. After all, if you were that wrong about "President-elect Huckabee", what else might you be wrong about?
August 19th, 2008 at 4:16 pmDude 500? They don't give a shit about you with their stupid trinketry and such. You are joking I presumb. Ohio is not a radical christian state. It is just a place where people worship the fruit of trees.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:17 pmHi John Kerry. Please don't be a pussy forever. We have much to talk of.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:17 pmFirst, no, they're not, and two, aren't "radical religious states" the kind of places we invade to institute regime change?
Well, come to think of it, since both Michigan and Ohio have Democratic governors, maybe that's the plan?
August 19th, 2008 at 4:18 pmTroll John Kerry, stick around! We'll get some Cheetos!
August 19th, 2008 at 4:19 pmDuh says:
I’m from the Midwest (Indiana), and I can tell you that Ohio and Michigan are radical christian states.
The Republics are a radical Christian Party, so we could agree on that, but MI & OH are NOT bible belt states, dipstick.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:21 pm"Plucking a bass"?
August 19th, 2008 at 4:23 pmI've heard of the olde Scottish expression of "plucking a rose" meaning to visit a prostitute. Is this some sort of Repug gay code for wanting a deep voiced male?
Ladies and Gentlemen.
I again give you...
PARODYLL!
Just a little hint for the next time, Parodyll.
When parodying a state, make sure the posters are not from that state.
For instance, I'm from Michigan. I've lived 42 years here.
It is far from a radical Christian state (please note the capital "C").
Just because the founder of Amway is from Grand Rapids does not make the entire state radical.
And just FYI. My state usually votes blue.
Now, dammit, get over here with your gangsta ghetto fly self and gimme some faux brown sugar luvin'.
Word!
August 19th, 2008 at 4:25 pmIsn't that cute? Daryll thinks he can buy influence in McSpin's campaign.
Leaving aside that selling his influence is unethical as all Hell, Daryll can't even imagine the wealth needed to compete with McSpin's current owners.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:28 pmPandering - that's the name of the McCain game an no one knows it better than Lush Lintball.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:28 pmBTW, did he not swear off being the water carrier for the repugs a year or two ago? I guess he looked at who it is that keeps him on the air and changed his mind.

I'm sure you will, Parodyll. I'm sure you will, as you go "tap, tap, tapping along in a Minnesota Mens restroom.
True dat!
August 19th, 2008 at 4:36 pmKnock yourself out Daryll. Send him your life savings. Somehow I don't think it will even register among the hundreds of millions of dollars he's collecting even if it were ethical to change policy based on donations. Plus the man, McSpin, himself admits he doesn't understand email.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:39 pmLet me know how much you're contributing St D, cause I'll double that amount to Obama.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:41 pmDaryll, do you think McDepends gives a rat's arse about you and your $500? He gets 100 times that much from an oil company or a defense contractor.
And, sorry to disillusion you, but Johnny Boy also doesn't give a shit about you Evangelical whack jobs either, other than to get their vote. He is no more of a christian than Joe Lieberman is, OK?
August 19th, 2008 at 4:43 pmAh, I see in #54 that St D has contributed over $500.
Looks like my vintage Rickenbacker 381-V69 with the incredible birds-eye figuring will be up on Ebay nex week...
August 19th, 2008 at 4:46 pmDaryll contributed over $500 and all he got was this crappy T-shirt that said,
Thanks, Sucker
Sincerely,

You are right as usual missmolly. It makes no sense to pander to 14% and offend 63%.
But I question that 63% of Americans who agree with Roe v Wade, because if that was a true number, assuming the polls are right, McBush would be way behind Obama.
August 19th, 2008 at 5:11 pmDaryll Says:
I will be donating much more before August the 31st.
Do you know what your maximum limit is? You better donate it quickly because after the convention you can't donate directly to McBush because he's taking public financing. So then you will have to donate to the RNC or even better, why don't you send you money to one of the 527's that are going to be doing smear jobs on Obama. That's right up your alley.
Oh, did you hear that Obama raised 51 million to McBush's 21 million? That's pretty sad that McCain can't raise any more money than that from "we the people". That's why McBush took public financing. He knew that he wouldn't be getting any donations from "we the people" so he took it in our taxpayer dollars.
August 19th, 2008 at 5:21 pmIsn't Rush due to give birth to the next spawn of Satan? Because his man-breasts do look like he wears at least a C-cup. I bet I'd be angry too if I was in my 49th trimester!
Maybe Daryll has been "blessed" like the Virgin Rush has.
August 19th, 2008 at 5:22 pmDaryll has confused the Rust Belt with the Bible Belt.
BUT, I think it would be a great idea for him to pick Huckabible as his running mate. It would send the Jewish vote running to Obama.
August 19th, 2008 at 5:25 pm#Daryll Says:
Rush is right. I hope he doesn’t choose Senator Lieberman. Sen. Lieberman is a great man, but he is not VP material. He is geared toward being a Foreign Advisor/Secretary of State. He needs to hit the evangelical base. This is how to win the election.
This ignorant troll thinks that appealing to 14% of the people in America is how to win elections. I guess math wasn't its strong suit in school.
August 19th, 2008 at 5:27 pmCindy McCain spent $700,000 on her credit cards in one month and Daryll thinks his campaign will be impressed with $500. Obama's campaign you don't even have to donate. All you have to do is give them your name and they keep you updated on the campaign. And while McCain is pandering to the oil companies for big donations Obama is asking people to just volunteer to talk to their neighbors and tell them the TRUTH about Obama.

___________________________________________________________
I suspect that 63% IS most likely a true number, but that abortion is not as important an issue with Americans as -- oh, say -- the economy and the price of gas, for example. Which means people will vote for McSame in spite of his position on abortion because he's trumpeting "drill here, drill now."
I also suspect that McBush would be way behind Obama in the polls if the media would do their job properly -- focus on McCain and his lies and flip-flops, quit calling him a maverick, stop obliging Rove and his smear band, and level with the public about how an oil industry land grab won't affect the pump price of gasoline.

I’ve received t-shirts, personal messages, invites for key donors only, etc. I know they listen. They have no choice because of my donation.
____________________________________________________________
Daryll, Daryll, Daryll -- sometimes your innocence is truly precious.
There's a BIG difference between sending t-shirts, messages, and invitations to donors and actually allowing them input on policy matters or choice of veep.
The t-shirts and trinkets you get are for you to wear or display -- that's advertising for them.
The messages you get mean you got on their mailing list. They are thanking you for your donation and encouraging you to donate more.
The "invites for key donors only" are invitations for you to attend events where check-writing will be the biggest activity -- or for you to attend a rally, where you will be encouraged to sign up to do volunteer work.
And all this is fine if you truly want to work to get your candidate elected. But don't delude yourself into thinking that they are consulting their $500 donors when it comes to making key decisions.
To put this into perspective -- Paris Hilton's parents contributed $4,600 to the McCain campaign ($2,300 each -- the maximum amount), and the McCain campaign STILL trashed their daughter in one of their ads.
August 19th, 2008 at 5:46 pmI'll bet Darryl has to bribe his wife to talk to him, too.

Ummmm, what's these "two events" that could launch the Rethuglicans to "sweeping victory"? Any idea what he thinks (and I use the term loosely) could be the 'big issues' they can capitalise on? Georgia, perchance? How's that a 'win' for Rethuglicans? Oil prices? How can they win with that, considering that it's their doing that has caused all the problems....

Hannity was also going ballistic about this today on his radio show.
August 20th, 2008 at 2:10 amHey Daryll,
I'm prepared to get you a role in a movie and we'll donate some of the proceeds to the McCain campaign. You just need to give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the phone number.
Are you game? Because all you have to do is play the role of a missionary. I believe you'd have to fly to Cleveland for this hot and steamy part. I hope you're not already tied up in something with parishioners at the church. Remember, the eager beaver waits for no man!

Well Daryll you really are world class stupid. Why do you parade your ignorance? Why would you be so proud to prove to everyone you are incapable of thinking for yourself? Why would any carbon based lifeform be so insidiously ignorant then be so proud of it? You are of the Limborg, you have been assmiliated and let morons do your thinking for you making you nothing but a cheap tape recorder spewing the stupidest talking points imaginable. That shows the world that you KNOW you are incredibly ignorant you KNOW you are far too stupid to think for yourself so you tune in to whatever righwing screechmonkey does your thinking for you and repeat the ignorance like referring to Barak as Hussien, as if it were clever. You are so desperate for someone, ANYONE to think you are clever you repeat the stupidity that people with normal IQs just roll their eyes at because you are not only so stupid you think its clever but because you think WE wont KNOW it came from someone else.
