Bush has ‘no plans’ to see Oliver Stone’s ‘W.’

White House spokeswoman Emily Lawrimore told the Los Angeles Times today that President Bush has “no plans” to see Oliver Stone’s upcoming biopic “W.” Lawrimore took the opportunity to pre-emptively attack Stone’s credibility, saying that “Oliver Stone is an accurate historian like Gilligan was an accurate navigator.” Watch the trailer:

    Duh.

    He lives it…

  2. robert verdi says:

who does, the 8 people who watched redacted on bootleg?

  3. mark_scism says:

He’ll have his cabinet advisors and department heads watch it and give him reports, only those reports will have negative parts re-written to be glowing. Then Bush will talk about the film hailing him as a savior. When it all goes wrong, he’ll blame it on his advisors’ faulty intelligence. Hey, everyone bought it the first time …

  4. PeaceMonkey says:

Curious George doesn’t need a second opinion, thank you very much. His failures are for little people.

Finally, something that the President and the vast majority of the public agree on!

  6. Zooey says:

    Keltoi,

I can agree with that. Who would want to watch that?

  7. dbadass says:

I think he is just miffed about that pretzel scene. You know how he gets when he feels like he is being treated like a little boy…

  8. dottoreholliday says:

Actually, Zooey, maybe he’s reliving it someone posted some candid snaps from the Potus’s visit to Beijing.

I’m no expert on Photoshop fakes and I thought the Security Service cleaners were more thorough, but make up your own mind.

P.S. Is your handle in honor of the J.D. Salinger novel? The Glass family is a favorite of mine even though I nevered choked on a cherrystone clam.

  9. Laszlo Panaflex says:

    Bush cites Gilligan. How appropo.

    There, that’s better.

Ugh, no kidding. The frat boy lives. We had a couple caption contests at The Zoo for Boy Kind Olympic pics.

Actually, “Zooey” is a shortened version of “Zookeeper,” given to me by a friend.

  13. Shayne says:

And Gilligan was an accurate navigator like Bush is a competent president.

  14. dbadass says:

With only a two man crew and five passngers, I suspect that the captian would handle navigation. Gilligan would have already had his hands full looking after the passengers, monitoring the decks, handling lines and much more. Why do they always blame shit on the mates?

  15. Shayne says:

Because db it’s the Republican way to blame the little guy.

OMG, that pic doesn’t look fake to me, either. It would be interesting to see if anyone else has pics with Bush (aka Frat Boy Gone Wild) in that same shirt with the same people in the same clothes around him.

I can just hear him: “I’ll see your lame duck, and raise you a Wild Turkey… hic…”

    PEACE

“Oliver Stone is an accurate historian like Gilligan was an accurate navigator.”

Actually, the Skipper was the navigator of the doomed HS Minnow. But don’t let syndicated reality get in the way of your imaginary straw men!

  18. conniptionfit says:

dbadass- because in the Repuglican world, Captains don’t go down with the ship?

  19. dbadass says:

I have always had a hard time calling any captain I have known “skipper” just because of this show. Now does anyone remember why Martanne was onboard? Was she like the professor’s grad student or something?

  20. ralph the wonder llama says:

I know that conservatives have a difficult time distinguishing between dramatic narrative and reality, but I suspect Oliver Stone is a talented enough filmmaker to know that historical accuracy doesn’t make entertaining movies. I doubt if he’s really trying to be an “accurate historian”.

Still, Keltoi has it about right. Who wants to sit in a theater and spend two-and-a-half hours in the company of that man? Bushbots are already convinced it’s a hatchet job, and everyone else is sick of the dude.

  21. Shayne says:

If this movie was historically accurate Oliver Stone would get himself “renditioned”.

  22. ozma10 says:

No matter how bad it is, it’s still too complimentary to W. What would do this guy justice, can’t be put in films shown to the public.

  23. BlueProteus says:

“Oliver Stone is an accurate historian like Gilligan was an accurate navigator.”

Should have been “George Bush is a good president like fecal matter is good toothpaste.”

  24. Count Istvan says:

    Coincidently enough…neither do I.

  25. jkd7854 says:

What’s really scary is that we have had a President for the last eight years who doesn’t need or want to know the truth. See the movie, heck, he doesn’t even read newspapers and probably still doesn’t know much about the ‘internets’.

  26. Max-1 says:

  27. DaTruth says:

The idiot and his Zionist droogs cronies are planning a blockade against Iran followed by war!

  28. 5150 says:

Victor Ashe was “Bulldog” before Jeff Gannon-Guckert stole his role.

  29. Keith says:

I heard W and Colin Powell got arrested in a bar fight and MI:II hottie Thandie Newton is Condi Rice.

  30. barfly says:

The surge is in danger of failure:

    http://www.mcclatchydc.com/227/story/49538.html

The story mentions a Nov. 1 deadline for Sunni disarmament, which seems timed just right to throw the US elections into turmoil.

Is this the October surprise? Have the deliberations between US officials and the Iraqi government been about securing a republican victory in November? Is this a repeat of Reagan’s Iranian hostage perfidy?

  31. Game of Life says:

All these years I thought the Minnow was stranded on an isle because of a storm.

Gillian is like a poopdeck cleaner or something.

  32. nofltwlt says:

This would make more sense if it was a book and not a movie. It would make even more sense if it was a cartoon and not a movie. Imagine that, a cartoon character watching a cartoon of himself.

  33. spencers mom says:

    Max-1 Says:

Sorry, don’t mean to be “O/T” but the morning thread comes too morning for me…

Conyers issues some stern letters. His request to “please respond as soon as possible” is laughable… AT BEST!

Geez, thanks Max. Conyers has “become very concerned…” What a crock! We The People have been far more than concerned for years!

Can you imagine how these letters would read if the roles were reversed? What am I saying? There wouldn’t have been “letters” there would have been immediate investigations.

The tone of these letters would be more appropriate for questioning the quality of the most recent delivery of ballpoint pens from an office supplier, not actions that, if true, are no less than criminal actions and treason that have resulted in the deaths of millions of people and the waste of trillions of dollars.

Perhaps I should write a strongly worded letter telling Congressman Conyers that I am “disappointed in his behavior”.

    PEACE

The last thing the smirking chimp wants it to see a representation of his life during his blackout, alcoholic/cocaine addicted youth, when daddy was constantly bailing him out from business failures, drunk driving arrests, and the like.

Especially cuz he is not sober now!

  36. Fred says:

    good_golly4 Says:
…. and they all lived happily ever after.

    Well, much happier than now.

  37. McWars says:

I wonder if he is planning an “M” in the likely event that golly’s head explodes on November 4. McMetal can tell you what that stands for.

  38. Fred says:

What’s the matter gg, don’t want to talk about bush’s cocain and alcolhol problems?

The thread is about the movie W. Please stay on topic.

Do you think bush is still drinking?

  39. stewarjt says:

No one knows better than President Dinkledorf what a complete disaster his life and presidency have been!

  40. Alecto says:

    The movie should be called:
    “Precedent Dinkledoofus”

  41. bentley1 says:

Ofa course bushbaby isn’t going to watch a movie, he doesn’t have the attentions span to view a two hour movie.

  43. bluebird22 says:

I don’t believe White House spokesmen. They probably haven’t even talked to him about it. I believe he’ll watch it and love it. It’s his kinda movie. I can see him now saying, Who’s W? That’s cool, he has a wife named Laura too.

  44. Sambadaddy says:

“Warning! This cinematic presentated has been rated for mature audiences”

  45. EugeneDebs says:

Doesnt really matter he surely wouldnt understand it if he DID see it
