“The U.S. military suffered its 101st death of the year in Afghanistan last week when Sgt. 1st Class David J. Todd Jr….died of gunfire wounds while helping train Afghan police in the northwest,” the AP reports. The 111 U.S. troops killed last year in Afghanistan “was a record itself and is likely to be surpassed.” “The U.S. is now losing the war against the Taliban,” Anthony Cordesman of the Center for Strategic and International Studies wrote in a report Thursday. In Iraq, 239 U.S. soldiers have died this year, despite reductions in violence.
Nothing a little troop surge won’t fix, right McCain?
August 25th, 2008 at 9:52 amLatest McLiar attack ad barely this side of physical assination…links Obama with a ’suspect? concilman’ in Chicago. This would be an illegal ad in most countries.
August 25th, 2008 at 9:56 amOf course, the Taliban was on their heels for much of the first 3 years of the initial invasion, but there just wasn’t enough oil to interest BushCo in completing the mission. More fun to be had in Iraq. Now we have a whole new ballgame in Afghanistan and Obama will be left to wipe up the NeoCon shitstains.
Wankers!
August 25th, 2008 at 9:57 amSo….the McCan’t ’surge’ has killed at least 239 soldiers this year. The surge is working for who?…people that want to kill US troops?
August 25th, 2008 at 9:58 amBRING EM ALL HOME THEN DECIDE IF AND WHERE REDEPLOYMENT WOULD BE NECESSARY.
August 25th, 2008 at 9:58 amIn nearly 8 years, bush has screwed up EVERYTHING he’s touched. EVERYTHING.
August 25th, 2008 at 10:03 amI worry about our involvement in Afghanistan – I understand the priority, but it wasn’t a national army that attacked us. Forty years ago, the Viet Nam war was expanded to include Cambodia and Laos.
August 25th, 2008 at 10:09 amI don’t know (or remember) everything about that era, but I do remember my reaction of horror at that time.
And do not forget the 4,146 US soldiers killed in Bush’s debacle of a War and Occupation of Iraq, since July 19,2008 – 21 more killed. The news media does not seem to think it politically correct to report these deaths, minor headlines. We are still losing soldiers daily in Iraq and Afghanistan, and this Administration continues to ignore REALITY, the lies, deceit, arrogance, and total incompetence continue unbated……Change in November ……. Yes Indeed…………………

I’m sure this won’t surprise you – I’ve been thinking the same thing.
August 25th, 2008 at 10:20 amIt is a sad shame that the Cheney-Bush-Rumsfeld gang of three pulled assets away from our rightful and key Afghanistan effort and Usama bin Laden to run their preemptive fiction in Iraq and so many good people have suffered since for the machinations of those three.
August 25th, 2008 at 10:34 amTo be fair:
August 25th, 2008 at 11:50 amConsidering in 2007 at this time we were losing 110 soldiers a month. I would say comparatively we have improved somewhere.
unbelievable:
August 25th, 2008 at 1:00 pmNo, I am not surprised – it has happened many times before!

August 25th, 2008 at 4:42 pmJust like the cold war when everyone who didn’t agree with the U.S. was either a communist or a communist sympathizer. toki This poor crazy guy spent half a decade being tortured because a bunch
