Glenn Beck Encourages Listeners To Use More Energy To ‘Wipe Out Any Potential Energy Savings’ At The DNC
In April, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) promised that the Democratic National Convention this week will be the “greenest, most sustainable” convention in history. The Democrats greening efforts include the use of biodegradable balloons and signage, an army of volunteers for recycling, and a calculation of the convention’s carbon footprint.
Responding to the Democrats’ efforts, conservative global warming denier Glenn Beck is mockingly calling on his listeners to participate in a “carbon ONset program” aimed at counteracting progressive efforts to offset the environmental impact of the convention. On his website, Beck is encouraging Americans to “use more energy for mother nature“:
What can you to help? Take part in our carbon ONset program. We are asking you to make just a few small sacrifices to completely wipe out any potential energy savings the Democrats claim credit for. (By ‘energy savings’, we mean buying their way out of the energy they’ll use by flying in tens of thousands of people to a city so they can announce Barack Obama as their candidate. Seems like most people already knew that, but I digress).
Sign up for our carbon ONset program. Use more energy for mother nature. Do it for the earth (or more accurately, the people living on it.)
Beck posted a survey on his website (see graphic on the right-hand side) where listeners can say what they’ll do to “use more energy.” On his radio show today, he also offered suggestions for how his listeners can help “raise 70 million pounds of carbon.” Beck repeatedly kept claiming it needed to be done “for the children“:
What I’m just, I’m asking you to participate because it’s for the children. You go to the website. Now, how many, how many extra miles can you pledge? Can you drive five extra miles a day? Can you take the long way home, the long way to work? Can you just warm up your car? I know it’s August. Can you cool down your car? Can you get up like you do in the winter and just start your car?

1. He has no credentials in an academic field, in a scientific field, in journalism, or in anything else that I can tell.
2. He is not an outstanding speaker or even commentator.
3. His show is regularly the lowest rated in whatever time-slot them put him.
4. He causes a lot of problems by making statements that are inflammatory/racist/etc and likely has cost CNN some ad bucks.
Why is this person on the air at CNN? Are they afraid FOX will grab him up if he is released from his contract?
(Perhaps he has a non-cut contract he got someone at CNN to sign while they were in a drunken stupor.)
It's a mystery to me....

If future President Obama improves the economy, Beck can call for people to stop spending their money, or better yet, just flush their money down the toilet. That should offset those economic gains. If a future President Obama creates more jobs in America, Beck can call for Republican employers to fire workers to offset those gains. If Obama reduces the trade deficit, Beck can call for his viewers/listeners to offset that reduction by buying more products made overseas. He can start his "buy Chinese" campaign to buy more Chinese-made goods. If Democrats reduce crime, Beck can call on his listeners to commit more crime to offset those reductions. If Democrats get the world to like us more, Beck can call on people to insult other countries so the world can continue to hate us at Bush-Presidency levels.

CNN has 2 reasons.
1) They've been called "librul media" so many times without defending themselves, that they will hire any right winger in hopes that they'll stop being seen as librul. They will hire half the Bush admin when they leave too. Also, they hired that "values voter" reporters. They are fools in this, they will still be the enemy of the extreme right.

I'm neither, conservative, liberal, nor progressive. I'm an old fashioned moderate. I couldn't begin to name the times I've voted for a candidate despite the party platform. This election will be the first time I've voted a "straight ticket".
Federal, state and local, I will vote Dem or leave blank. And it would take completely immoral idiots from both parties to make me leave it blank.
I haven't "moved left". I merely recognize the fact that our federal government has been seized by a gang of criminals and the Dems are the only tool available to try and stop the rot.
Do I wish that there was a way to reclaim our government with third parties and outsiders? Of course. But this is a brute force struggle and the little fish, for the foreseeable future, will need to be content to follow the school.
The way I see it, the only way to answer our national emergencies is to give a Democratic President a "super-majority" and a mandate to act, even if the actions are not ideal.
There is really only one issue in this election.
Accountability.
The GOP, for whatever reason, has placed the party's elite above the country, the Constitution, and the Law. And, for that reason alone, I would be delighted to vote for every, half-way respectable, Democrat in the country.
That's how I've decided to view the upcoming election. I don't expect, or want, fundamental changes in how our government is constructed. I merely expect our next generation of elected and appointed officials to punish criminals, respect the Constitution, and acknowledge the fact that THEY are accountable to US!
And Glenn Beck is a miserable buffoon with the wit of a dead puppy.

You are correct. In 1978 I was a buyer working for a machine tool manufacturer. I remember buying big motors (20-50HP) from GE. Suddenly leadtimes went out to 16-18 weeks. When I asked about it, I was told that GE moved their motor building operation to Mexico to say money. I remember thinking back then...well, if all of the stuff gets outsourced, who'll have the money here to buy anything? Guess we're seeing the endgame play out.

I think it may be due to Ratings??? But i could be wrong as most networks just give jobs to the first individual to show up for work. They don't really care if anybody is watching or not as the Government picks up the tab for it all anyway.
