The Fox & Friends team broadcasted live from a bar in downtown Denver today, the opening day of the Democratic National Convention — where they seemed to spend nearly as much time schmoozing with scantily-clad women as they did talking about politics. Segment after segment featured Broncos cheerleaders, Hooters waitresses, with Brian Kilmeade joking about joining the security team to “pat down” the cheerleaders; when Steve Doocy’s son Peter discussed Fox on Twitter, Steve joked that Kilmeade “just twittered the cheerleaders a minute ago!” Watch a compilation:
Last year, Brave New Films noted Fox News’s attack on decency while simultaneously promoting “family values.” As Gloria Steinem said,”Fox News shows more sexualized violence and humiliation than probably any other network.”
And so it goes… speaking to the lowest common denominator for the 23%ers…
August 25th, 2008 at 12:13 pmThis is the front stage material, used to divert people from the kajillions exchanging hands behind the blue curtain.
Fox is a major beneficiary of the money flow, so they must keep the masses diverted, I mean entertained.
August 25th, 2008 at 12:14 pmFAUX
Trying with all their might to be the new “Man Show”.
And unsuccessfully ………..
August 25th, 2008 at 12:15 pmWell, if it distracts them from trying to cause trouble among protesters, I’m all for it,
And an added bonus is that some Faux viewer, someday, may finally wake up and see that it’s not a news source to be taken seriously.
August 25th, 2008 at 12:16 pmEasy stories for TP to pick up on this fine day. No surprise at all. Just as the rich have become richer, the extreme have become more extreme.
August 25th, 2008 at 12:19 pmLast year, Brave New Films noted Fox News’s attack on decency while simultaneously promoting “family values.” As Gloria Steinem said,”Fox News shows more sexualized violence and humiliation than probably any other network.”
Because sex sells. And apparently, so does pretending to do something about it.

August 25th, 2008 at 12:20 pmMmmm, that’s some pretty sexist crap they are spewing there, my gaud, Faux is so sophomoric, grow up.
August 25th, 2008 at 12:20 pmThey probably feel like they are covering a minor league game while waiting for the major league game to start next week. In their mind, they feel they have to do something to keep their audience entertained, much like the minor league teams do, because no one is actually there for “the game”, but for the wet t-shirt contests, hot dog bowling or mud wrestling mascots.
August 25th, 2008 at 12:23 pmOf course, no self respecting faux news viewer would want to simply watch the main event, to become a more informed voter. They need something else, bright and shiny, to keep their attention.
Enjoy your fun, righties. We’ve got some great speakers, but I can’t wait for Biden rips into all of you when he takes the floor. We’re going to leave you crying for what you’ve done to our nation.
August 25th, 2008 at 12:23 pmJust so you know, I refuse from this point on to click on any story that has Fox News in the headline. Small protest of my own.
I don’t need to hear their faux-condescension, it isn’t going to sway my vote for Obama. I will watch C-SPAN, without the benefit of some moron talking about events I can plainly see for myself.
August 25th, 2008 at 12:23 pmFox News’s DNC coverage focuses on cheerleaders, Hooters girl.

this is what passes as repug journalism.
August 25th, 2008 at 12:39 pmIt’s ok, Republican’s usually don’t do the protest thing much. Unless, of course, a racist flag is in danger of being removed or a woman isn’t being forced to complete a pregnancy against her will.

I joined the PUMA forum, just to figure out what is wrong with those people. You are correct. They have one hard and fast rule; criticism of John McCain is not allowed. I was banned for posting unfavorable facts about McCain.
Another thing I found fascinating was that they could care less about anything Hillary Clinton says. They are Republicans.
August 25th, 2008 at 12:49 pmIt is quite apparent the Faux News is trying too hard to flex it’s “heterosexual muscle”.
Either they are afraid to lose their homophobic audience, or maybe they’re just the Larry Craig’s of the media.
Whichever. Doesn’t really matter.

Just who is mark_schism? Do I sound cynical when I sense that some posters are here to slow-churn their personalities as “true progressives,” only to go neurotic at the sight of Obama’s rise? Is this the point where they flip the switch and use their built credibility based on past comments as a cushion to turn around and insult our candidates?
At this tearing time in our history, how could people possibly waste their time as PUMAs, et al?

August 25th, 2008 at 1:19 pmDribblyhick, it’s sad when somebody doesn’t even have a knack for the obvious. As somebody who was in Springfield when Obama and Biden spoke together I can tell you that Obama supporters would have been livid if Hillary was on the ticket. And there were more white men and women there than any other demographic. But the folks that got the most rousing cheers were all the folks with Republicans for Obama shirts. You just keep worrying about those polls. The only thing they’re good for is making it easier for the Republicans to rig the Diebold machines and cage the votes to steal another election. But it would be very unwise to try that again this time. That might just be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
August 25th, 2008 at 1:22 pmThat’s a visual we could all live without.

If you actually believe your own tripe, then you’re either a coward for not openly revolting against an illegitimately stolen government, or you’re just a moron for actually thinking that the democratic process was usurped, twice even, by “BushCo and his cronies”. Pathetic.
Here in the real world, the facts are that current polling shows ~20% of hillary supports say they are not voting for Obama. Those are the numbers.

They are really your republican friends, up in arms over the SCARY BLACK DUDE, and you flip their labels as if to give argument meat.

August 25th, 2008 at 2:01 pmI’m missing something here. When did the DNC move their meeting from the convention hall to Hooters ?
Unless they did, all Faux is doing is a) advertising that there is a Hooters in Colorado (surprise ?) and/or b) saying the news is that Faux News’s control room is in a Hooters.
I don’t see a whole lot of merit here.

You need to educate yourself on the Obama supporters’ demographics. He chose Biden because he’s and old white guy, just like McCain.
August 25th, 2008 at 2:02 pmI say let’s allow trippledick to babble on. It’s going to be in a world of hurt on November 3 so we can afford to be charitable towards it now. The one thing that it and it’s ilk don’t understand is that the Democrats outvoted Republicans 4-1 in the primaries. That’s something that can’t be accounted for in the polls. And that’s what is going to cream them on election day.
Democrats – Vote absentee, that way they can’t steal your vote.

Nope, the search committee was always leaning in that direction. They didn’t consider Hillary because she didn’t want to be vetted unless she was selected.
It’s good to see that Biden competed with a diversity of candidates before achieving the spot. Your party? Same skin tone, same spoon-fed background. Competition is barely competition within your party, seeing that the same boring result is always produced.

As a vice president, Biden is not eligible for placement on any currency. The strengths of Biden are the ability to debate congenially and with the perfect level of arrogance to take on the extremists of our time, the far right, (b) his strong middle class roots and understanding, (c) his passion and humility for the issues, and (d) his ability to attract, yes, those older and white voters who are on the fence. Some people are too extremist and dogged by the talking points to be swayed to the party in their best economic interests. We’re not looking to appeal to them. When they suffer the job loss, they have “going out in style” on their mind. They’re intent on keeping that mentality.
Biden’s off to a great start, and it will only get better. Heck, he gave you a punch, in fact, during first day of the honeymoon in Ill. So everytime he makes an appearance, he will have you scrambling.
If Obama didn’t find the comment offensive, which he didn’t, then neither you nor I have any business taking issue. It’s not your business, because you didn’t care in the first place.
But I don’t want my relative politeness to paint you as a formidable debater. So, go f uck yourself.

The rage and hate of the violent protesters was clear. They despised the Fox News crew. They feel Fox is conservative, and therefore, I suppose, scum. So much for hearing all views.
Throughout the event, these men and women exercising their freedom of speech lamented, in dramatic and ominous terms, their lack of free speech. Then in the middle of the event they decided to silence the Fox News crew.
For a peace protest, these guys sure are ready to make war. Not with enemies abroad, but with conservatives at home, real or perceived. Stop war, they cry. Just not theirs, apparently.
Oh, boo hoo. Typical whiny FoxNews neoconservative crybabies. “Oooh, they hate us because we’re conservative. Ooooh, they want to silence us for our opinions.”
No, fools (and this includes the person posting this), people hate FoxNews because they’ve lied, distorted and propagandized for the Bush Administration for the last seven years — because they’re frickin’ weasels. It’s not their ideology but their reprehensible behavior that inspires hate, but just like four-year-olds, the neocons refuse to take any responsibility for their behavior.

August 25th, 2008 at 3:29 pmYou have no idea how little most of us care what Hillary’s wupporters feel. What was universal on Saturday is that die hard Obama supporters would have been extremely irate if Hillary had been named VP. If Hillary’s followers are silly enough to believe they will be better served by McCain either by voting for McCain or an independent then they have to do what they think is best. It doesn’t make a lot of sense but it is their right just as it is your right to vote against your own self interest and voting for Grampy.
August 25th, 2008 at 3:33 pmThat’s funny. Why would you have voted for Obama if somebody else was the vp pick. No you wouldn’t. And most Democrats, you know the ones that will actually vote, are thrilled with this pick. You think you know better who a good pick would be. You should worry about who McCain picks because if that’s the best candidate you could come up with what kind of moron will you have to settle for as VP.
August 25th, 2008 at 3:38 pmDon’t you little b*tches ever stop whining. Fox was imposing itself among a crowd where it was clearly not wanted. When somebody does that, expect the worst, wusses.
August 25th, 2008 at 3:47 pmShaynerd,
Psst, just so you know, outside of your little liberal cocoon, mainstream voters think Obama’s a lightweight and they don’t trust him. Choosing Biden was a last ditch effort to add that missing gravitas to his campaign.
Those Obamamania juveniles who are enamored with his empty hope/change slogans are likely not going to be a significant voting block, meanwhile the millions of old people who consistently vote will remember the endless agism jokes at McCain’s expense. Enjoy November.
August 25th, 2008 at 4:02 pmTripleKick acheives “Space Cowboy” status in John McCain’s “Frequent Lyer” program.
Your Buzz Lightyear doll will arrive in the mail before the RNC Convention opens. It’s signed by George W., Dick Cheney, and John McCain.
August 25th, 2008 at 4:09 pmGiven John McCain’s age, the phrase “To Infinity…and beyond” takes on new meaning.
August 25th, 2008 at 4:18 pmWTF does any of this have to do with cheerleaders and Hooter girls?
August 25th, 2008 at 4:26 pmJimAK needs to drink more stupid if he’s going to beat trippleK today. He’s fighting for bronze at the moment.
August 25th, 2008 at 4:28 pmJimAK Says:
Fine. Now that we’ve clarified Denver, please tell me where the other parts of the country are where the 1st Amendment doesn’t apply.
That’s rich. Every time a democrat exercised their right to free speech regarding the war, we were likened to America-hating traitors. Didn’t see you here, then, complaining about OUR rights to free speech.
August 25th, 2008 at 4:37 pm“Fox News’s DNC coverage focuses on cheerleaders, Hooters girl.”
The dumbing down of news and network. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a case of the invasion of the body snatchers and the real reporters on that network were abducted by aliens. Glad I don’t have cable to watch that garbage network.

Biden is just as much a corporate tool as Obama. His tech votes are especially worrisome. Then again, they are both fake progressives pandering to all the fake progressives who seem to read this blog
How true. Is there any leadership at all left in this dying country ? The two party system now threatens the very existence of a once proud country.
August 25th, 2008 at 11:13 pmThe commenters on this blog are blind supporters of the Democrat party. The same party that sues to keep third parties off the ballot. The same party who just selected a Zionist to be Veep. The same party that still doesn’t give us universal healthcare or get the military out of Iraq.
Obama will force us all to pay a corporation for health insurance. Obama won’t impeach Bush-Cheney. Biden wants to spend $1 billion a year on domestic spying of P2P networks. If you’re really progressive, you’d stop hero-worshipping this party, its crappy nominee, and its Congressional majority that still gets nothing done.
