Rove Blasts Michelle Obama’s Patriotism: ‘I Don’t Think She Did Well On Saying I Love America’

In a speech last night at the Democratic convention, Michelle Obama “began a weeklong effort to present her husband — and his entire family — as embodiments of the American dream.” The Houston Chronicle writes, “Despite Republican attempts to paint her as a liberal elitist, she said in her speech that she knows from her family’s struggles and successes ‘that the American dream endures.’”

Totally disregarding Michelle Obama’s repeated efforts throughout her speech to spell out “why she loves her country,” Karl Rove — an informal adviser to John McCain — went on Fox News last night and proclaimed that Obama didn’t show “adequate enough” love for her country:

I don’t think she did too well on saying I love America. That wasn’t adequate enough because, look, people are gonna hear that, and then those that have paid attention to her earlier comments are gonna try and square those two off.

Watch it:

Clearly, Rove was prepared to degrade Michelle Obama as un-American regardless of what she said last night. But here’s what the rest of America heard in her speech:

I know firsthand from their lives — and mine — that the American dream endures. […]

I stand here today at the crosscurrents of that history — knowing that my piece of the American dream is a blessing hard won by those who came before me. […]

That is the thread that connects our hearts. That is the thread that runs through my journey and Barack’s journey and so many other improbable journeys that have brought us here tonight, where the current of history meets this new tide of hope. That is why I love this country.

At the end of the interview, Fox host Brit Hume said Rove will be arriving in Denver at the Democratic convention today. “We know that thousands of Democratic delegates are looking forward to your arrival, and they will cheer you on and welcome you as they have us,” Hume said.

Digg It!

There Karl, a little shift to reality for ya.

Maybe he’s helping to host the Big Oil reception. Surely KKKarl would have been welcome at the AT&T reception. Hanging out with his Blue Dog buds? Not one of them will do a citizen’s arrest on a fellow CorporaCrat. Karl is the pox on America’s house…

Will some real Democratic delegate, not drinking the AT&T punch, square off with Karl? Please…

I guess KKKarl has never discovered the virtues of confounding people’s expectations once in a while.

Nope, he just kkkeeps sticking with the playbook, even though it’s gotten ratty and dog-eared over the years. The thing of it is, a lot of people think he wrote it. Negative. Richard Nixon is the original author.

The Republic Party: great at getting elected, abysmal at governing.

    Dear TP,

I don’t care what KKKarl has to say unless he is doing so under oath in a courtroom or congressional hearing room. We all understand that he is nothing more than a Republican propaganda tool. Even the zombies watching Fox “News” probably realize this. Fortunately, he is an extremely unlikeable tool who has only succeeded when working behind the scenes. No need to keep bringing his inane comments to our attention. Hume making a funny however was cute.

Why is “Fair and Balanced” Faux news allowed to broadcast there anyway?? If Rove says BS like that, why not put Faux in a toilet stall for the rest of the convention. 21. livelongandprosper says:

    A bit OT:

I would like to see some of the ads Karl produced for Bush’s campaign against McCain in 2000. I would like to see them over and over again on TV. Don’t you think it would be a good idea? And just add a bit at the end of them showing McCain’s love for Bush in 2008. Priceless.

Where else but in the USA could a drug-addled bimbo be able to talk her convicted felon father to cut her siblings out of his will and business so that she could be wealthy by accident of birth and grow up to own her very own senator?

  25. arleang says:

Why is Karl Rove such an irritant? With all the slime he exudes how does he get under our skin so easily?

  26. spencers mom says:

Even after all these years, I am still amazed at the extreme nature of the spin.

Rove could step out of a limo in Denver and be pummeled with hundreds of clumps of cow shit. After cleaning himself up, he appears on FuxNews and they all crow about how cow shit it fertilizer, makes things grow, therefore the Democratic crowd wants even more Roves in the world.

In the end, Rove will probably slip in the bathtub and break his neck. A fitting end to a filthy life.

So of course they’re abysmal at governing — that’s not why they want to get elected, and governing only gets in the way of their real goal — the biggest diversion of public funds to private corporate bank accounts in the history of the world. And that, my friends, is why we can’t have Grampy McSame elected, to continue this raiding of the Treasury. But of course, the sheeple in this country won’t hear of it…

Ah yes, Democrats still trying to prove they love America. Why do Democrats try and prove they love America? Who are they trying to prove it too? Well the Republicans, that’s who. Because Republicans said Democrats don’t love America, and Democrats are always trying to appease Republicans. It just shows how lost the Democratic Party really is that they have to send out the wife of their nominee to keep trying to prove she loves America. It’s just like Obama going to that stupid church gathering with Rick Warren and try and prove his Christianity.

Stop playing the Republicans game already!!! What Michelle Obama should have said is anybody who questions my or my husbands patriotism can come see me and I’ll knock that thought out of their stupid head so fast they’ll never find it again, and if that sounds like I’m angry you better believe it.

Democrats should make sure that every time they mention Karl Rove’s name they should make sure it’s attached with the words “draft dodger”. Same thing goes with Cheney. It’s simple. “Vice President Dick Cheney, a draft dodger, will be speaking at the GOP convention.” Fox news pundit and McCain advisor Karl Rove, a draft dodger, will be in Colorado for the Democratic National convention. Democrats need to say this kind of stuff repeatedly. Put the pressure on Republicans to defend themselves. Stop allowing Republicans to define Democrats. Start defining them at every opportunity.

Agreed, Dogfather. Their strategy serves two purposes. One, as you pointed, they and their corporate cronies get rich on the fat of the land and, two, their mnatra of “government is not the answer” becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Do you remember “Town Hall Meetings” where not a Democrat was allowed in? Do you remember the Generals being told what to say about the situation in Iraq?

You have no argument here. Go back to your bible and read it backwards – I’m sure you’ll find something devilish to be worried about.

  83. RUCerious says:

Right,….coming from a smirking pig who hates America, is a treasonous slab of pork.

  84. ralph the wonder llama says:

    Daryll Says:

Hussein has officially lost the campaign.

Darryl doesn’t understand the meaning of the term “officially”, obviously.

In any case, this is from the doosh-bag who in February said it was time to start calling him “President-elect Huckabee”.

So D-bag doesn’t have the greatest track record on political predictions, folks.

Darryl, your game is tired and boring. Time for you to pack it in.

  85. ralph the wonder llama says:

    Putin Says:
    I watched the video

I am sorry to say that KKKarl was correct. Michelle could have done a better job. Hope she does not lose the election for us.

Oh good! A new Concern Troll. We haven’t had one of those show up in weeks.

Home schooled religious freaks – obviously.

  88. impeachcheneythenbush says:

As we all know, Rove’s nickname is “Turdblossom.” In honor of that, let’s decide which type of turd he is. I vote for either Type 1 or Type 2.

  89. A Patriot Acting says:

  90. tkdmike says:

Can Ya HATE this fat piece of crap ANYMORE????

  91. Doc Rock says:

Rove’s military record (or lack thereof) speaks volumes about his patriotism.

  92. DaTruth says:

Oh sure Rove maggott, you sure love Anerica, teaming up with the idiot DeceiverInChief, the greatest enemy of american prosperity, sure! Ignoring court citations, you should be in jail pudgy pillsbury dough boy! Geek!

  93. STILTON says:

I’m ecstatic to see Karl Rove in Denver! Please train the cameras on him at all times. This ought to be hilarious.

If he had any brains he would not make that trip out of his own safety and security. An angry electorate wants to claw his eyes out.

  94. Marnie says:

    This is typical Goebbels’ Gobble.
Patriotism should be a respect and desire to protect the freedoms and rights that we have endeavored to make our goals in this nation, since the Declaration of Independence.

Rove wants “love of America” not “Love of Equality and Freedoms.”

If the Repocons can succeed in redefining what “America” is, then our loyalty is to the Repocons not to the historical ideals of the, once respected, United States of America.

The military, police and many citizens have been propagandized to believe that their loyalty is to the Duhyba, and the Repocons for which he stands, rather than to the Constitution of the United States, which defines what this nation, ideally, is.

Every voice than can speak to the public should be calling out Rove et al for what they are, the NeoNazis Party of America.
These are the same people who, in Nixon’s first term, wanted to amend the Constitution so that Nixon could be elected President for life. No I am not making that up, I heard interviews with prominent Republican spokes persons, still active in DC, stating that intent.
These are the same people who in Bush’s first term were talking about a 1000 year Reich of Repocon control of the White House and both houses of Congress.
These are the same people who now control most of the so called Main Stream Media.

So everyone else who has access to the public’s ear must call out their lies and point out their Goebbels’ Games of mind control. And say as often as necessary that Neocon and NeoNazi are synonymous.

Still wanted to appear before the House Judiciary Committee…
    … Still missing.

    .

  96. impeachcheneythenbush says:

Marnie, there’s far more recent activity on amending the Constitution to repeal the 22nd Amendment, which limits the Presidency to a two-year term. The 2005 bill was introduced by one Republican and three Democrats, including Steny Hoyer!

    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=hj109-24

  97. Bluegene says:

Karl Rove is the poster boy for what is wrong with American politics. He committed an act of treason by outing a CIA agent and today he is a national commentator and “unoffical” advisor to Johnny McPow. Rove is lucky he wasn’t put over a trap door with a noose around his neck. His time will come and his fall will be long and hard. Few tears will be shed.

  98. Innocent Bystander says:

Why isn’t Karl Rove in jail awaiting trial for outing a CIA agent? Or for the political prosecution of a Governor of Alabama? Or for gaming our elections? Or politicizing the DoJ and turning it into the Republican’s private legal weapon?

This white color criminal has no standing for questioning anyone’s patriotism, especially Michelle Obama’s. He’s done more to destroy this country than anyone else I can think of.

For that matter, who the hell watches The Leno Show?

  100. karela says:

There is one thing that is undeniably true. Karl Rove does not love his country enough. Not by a long shot.

  101. MCMetal says:

Could someone please ask Turd Blossom and the entire garbage Chimpy administration what it is exactly that makes them believe they are in any way qualified to comment upon , discuss or judge who is or isn’t a patriot or who it is that loves America ?

  102. Leftside Annie says:

That doughy little traitor should drop dead.

  103. Musk says:

I thinks its important to keep Rove in the limelight. Out of sight . . . out of mind . . . and that SOB needs to be arrested and put on trial. For any Rove-haters out there, and there are plenty of us. If he comes to your town, go to where his is and LOUDLY call for his arrest!!!

  104. Buckie Boy says:

Well, just wait and see, since Michelle did such an excellent job on her speech last night, Cindy McCain is going to show her…

….by going Topless while stoned on meds, that should impress the knuckle-draggers.

  105. DieNowForPeace says:

John McCain’s campaign is reviving the most famous political commercial of the Democratic primary cycle, launching a new 30-second spot Tuesday that uses footage from Hillary Clinton’s original ad and declares “Hillary’s
    right.”

    LINK

The ad, set to run in key battleground states and specifically in Denver this week, also goes a step further than the New York senator’s original ad, explicitly detailing the national security threats America faces.

“Uncertainty. Dangerous aggression. Rogue nations. Radicalism,” the ad’s narrator states as images of tanks and launching missiles flash on screen.

The ad also includes Clinton’s attack on Barack Obama in March 2008 in which she declared “I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House. And, Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002.”

She was NEVER interested in party “unity”.

She’s a selfish, political whore who’d just as soon switch parties if it was in her best interests.

    I hate that b*tch.

  106. cathymoo3 says:

Where’s your flag lapel pin, Karl, or are you just another one of those unpatriotic SOBs you like to rant about?

  107. freeman88 says:

If Michelle had spent an hour saying over and over that she loved the country, and would die for it, the pig phuckers at faux noise would STILL have said she didn’t didn’t love America enough.

For the life of me, I cannot understand WHY rove is given a network from which he can bloviate!?! Besides the obvious partisan that he is, because of his treasonous actions in the Valarie Plame case, he should be trading cigarettes for his life in a Federal Prison somewhere without cameras.

The mere fact rove is on faux, is proof to the contrary of their claim of “Fair and Balanced.” They are little more than propaganda for the repuglican party.

  108. zuch says:

I don’t think that people who intentionally out CIA agents — that are working to protect this country by trying to prevent weapons proliferation — for partisan political purposes should be allowed on TV to talk about thers not “loving” their country enough…..

Karl Rove put party and power before country, and in many countries would have been tried as a traitor and hanged.

    Cheers,

  109. upside99 says:

It is looking more and more like the Repugs are running scared and know that the inevitable is about to happen. When the next 4 years tears open the puss-filled sack that is the BushCo regime, the stench will be smelled around the world. And the rover will be one of the stinkiest.

  110. yogisie says:

Why isn’t KKKarl in prison, trading cigarettes for his life?

For that matter, why is he still being allowed to breathe?

  111. techsong says:

Rove would not survive on any other network but Fox. He would be chewed up and spit out without the cover of the Fox news stooges. Every once and a while Colmes gets a shot in on Rove but that’s few and far between unfortunately. Michelle’s speech was fantastic and Rove’s response was the usual negetive result. I mean why even ask him about any Democrat event. He’s just preaching to the choir of Fox viewers giving them what they want to hear no matter what.

  112. deb11 says:

Obviously the oxygen has been cut off to Karl’s brain. Why is he getting air time, trying to still another election?

  113. Lusmu says:

    Arrest the bastard already!

  114. thrutheseasons says:

That is it. I can’t stand seeing this guy who should be in jail being paid for commentary. Could the link between Fox and the propaganda of the Bush administration be shown to be any stronger. Tell your friends. Tell them to find out what products are marketed on Fox and never to buy those products again until Rove and his group are in jail and we get a public apology for putting out propaganda, which is illegal by the way.

  115. tanglewood says:

God forgive me for what I am about to say, but to think that this criminal, lowlife, monster still is walking around free after all of the lives and families he has destroyed by his duplicity, scheming, and cowardice–that he draws breath makes me sick.

I don’t have any answers but when I think that this monster has a column with Newsweek, writes a weekly oped in the Wall Street Journal and has a speaking gig with Faux News….I just don’t get it.

There is an old Irish adage: Every dog has his day, and every cat her night, and by God, this guy is going to get it and get it badly but I just don’t know when. I hope I live long enough to see him suffer as so many others have.

  116. ucsbclassics53 says:

Michelle Obama could have walked on stage wearing a flag lapel pin and used every wingnut frame and Rove would have found fault with her. He is a partisan hack in addition to being a TRAITOR and reflects the network he appears on.

  117. SP Biloxi says:

And while he blasts Michelle Obama’s patriotism, I see no lapel flag pin no where on Tubby McTreason Rove.

  118. cjger says:

This is what right-wing Republicans do!
Say the opposite of what happened. Karl Rove was the President’s chief political adviser. Now those who didn’t hear the speech can claim that someone of notoriety has asserted she didn’t show enough patriotism. As a tactic for the under-informed it is very effective.

  119. southrnbelle says:

    She was gorgeous, he’s disgusting.

    Period.

  120. kwaayesnama says:

    Are you a democrat? test

Would a Democrat vote for a man who voted against raising the minimum wage in, 1989, 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2006?

Would a Democrat vote to kill our bravest young people for 100 years looking for weapons of mass destruction that do not exist?

Would a Democrat vote for a man who does not know that 9-11 was caused by Osama Bin Laden not Sedam Hussein?

Would a Democrat vote the man who does not know if the Sunnis or Sheits are our enemies?

Would a Democrat vote for the man who voted against increasing
benefits for the military that he sends in harm’s way?

Would a Democrat vote to keep putting our government on the China, Saudi Arabia credit card?

Would a Democrat vote for tax cuts only for the wealthy?

Would a Democrat vote for opposition to SCHIP?

Would a Democrat vote for tax credits for health care instead of a
    nation health care system?

Would a Democrat vote to overturn Roe v. Wade?

Would a Democrat vote for a right-wing Supreme Court?

Would a Democrat vote for a third Bush term?

Would a Democrat vote for a man who says the economic downturn is psychological?

Would a Democrat vote for a man who says you are better off under George Bush?

Would a Democrat vote for a man who says irresponsible, undeserving homeowners are losing their homes? But is fortunate to own 8 homes!

  121. BlueStarMomx2 says:

This from the bona fide traitor!? Yes… outing a covert agent is TREASON. How “Patriotic” is that?

I’ve had enough of these people and the stupidity of people who actually believe them… there has to be a willingness to believe what one of these idiots says versus what your own eyes and ears observe.

I am sad to say that I believe that that willingness to believe in this crap stems from deep-seated, irrational, purely emotional prejudices based on race, gender or sexual orientation. They will always hate Democrats and Liberals because we accept everyone – even the incredibly stupid!

I have never been prouder of my presidential candidate than I was last night. Barack Obama and his family have done absolutely nothing but validate my choice of them. This is the first election in which I have been able to vote (I’m 48) that I wasn’t settling for the lesser of two evils. Our candidate is CLEARLY superior based upon his character, his background, and his commitment to US!

  122. davidual says:

Well, well, I’m glad it was KKKarl himself that reopened the ‘Michelle O8ama doesn’t love America’ can of worms again because that is exactly what the O8ama campaign wanted.

People, except the extreme hard line self-servatives, are tired of this rhetoric. If the McCan’t campaign pushes this button too hard it will blow up in their faces.

KKKarl was thrown a beautiful curve, he swung at it, and left him self all wrapped up in his own spin.

    Nice job team O8ama!!

  123. Innocent Bystander says:

With any luck, we’ll be inviting Karl back to explain his crimes when we take back the WH and DoJ. If I’m Leahy and Conyers, I’d tell him….confess now or be prepared for the retribution of the American people in 2009.

  124. drago says:

    Hey Karl, EVERYBODY HATES YOU!

Suck on that for a while.

  125. jkd7854 says:
