No public political function should EVER be "sponsored" by those corporate interests which it is the Body Politic's function and purpose to supervise and regulate in the public interest. There is no practical difference between impropriety in public office and the appearance of impropriety in public office. Because it is not the impropriety itself which damages the public weal, it is the damage to trust in the fairness of institutions which is the real social ill. We need to bring back 'stocks.'
